Gigi Hadid Lost Weight Because of Thyroid Disease

While the topic of Gigi Hadid weight loss is still hot, here’s a new twist – the model’s significant weight loss was not intentional, but caused by a thyroid disease. On the fact that she never wanted to lose weight and her skinnier figure is the result of a thyroid disease: “My metabolism actually changed like crazy this year. I have Hashimoto’s disease. It’s a thyroid disease, and it’s now been two years since taking the medication for it, so for the VS show I didn’t want to lose any more weight, I just want to have muscles in the right place, and if my butt can get a little perkier, then that’s good.” … says Gigi. After Gigi made the revelation about her illness, various media sources started to do a little research and pointed out that Hashimoto’s disease causes weight gain, not weight loss – in addition, others said that patients do not experience symptoms major once they get the right treatment, like Gigi has for the past 2 years. Gigi Hadid Was ‘Not Thin Enough, Not Tall Enough’ for Tommy Hilfiger

In the past year and a half, Gigi Hadid has lost a significant amount of weight, fact which we’ve documented in our previous posts. Turns out that around one and a half year ago, Gigi was considered too short (she is 5’10” / 179 cm) and too fat to model anything else than an oversized poncho for Tommy Hilfiger. Here are more details from People: Gigi Hadid seems to have it all: more magazine covers than any other model this year, every major catwalk under her belt, a standing invitation to walk the Victoria’s Secret runway and pose for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, a killer squad of fellow models, a cute boyfriend who lets her wear his shoes … we could go on. She’s even moved into the role of muse for Tommy Hilfilger, collaborating with him on a clothing line and serving as the face of his fragrance. But things weren’t always so golden for the model and the designer. For Hadid’s first turn down the runway for Hilfiger in February 2015, Hilfiger recalls a casting dilemma. “Our casting director said, ‘She doesn’t really fit because you know she’s not quite as tall as the other girls, she’s not quite as thin. So they put a red, white and blue poncho on her, it covered a lot of her body unfortunately, but it received millions of hits,” he told Yahoo Style’s Joe Zee. “So I said, you know, why don’t we ask her to design a line with us. So I said, Gigi come design this with me, we’ll do a Gigi x Tommy couture line.” Although Gigi was considered too fat to model regular clothes, the brand chose her to rock bikinis: It’s worth noting that, though Hadid was deemed “not quite thin” enough for any non-poncho apparel in February, by September, Hilfiger had her in a crochet bikini leading a cabal of models down a beach-inspired runway. And a few months after that, their clothing collaboration was announced. And though it may serve as small comfort for being publicly poncho-shamed by your design partner, Hilfiger did deliver her a compliment, saying she’s an “All-American girl next door with an exotic twist to her look.” Gigi these days: See more recent pictures of Gigi next! Victoria’s Secret Model Jasmine Tookes Will Wear the Fantasy Bra This Year

25 year-old Victoria’s Secret beauty Jasmine Tookes will be the very happy wearer of the brand’s $3 million Fantasy Bra at their runway show in December. Her thoughts on being selected to wear the Fantasy Bra: I had no idea that I was going to be chosen to wear the Bright Night Fantasy Bra. It was such a surprise to me. I don’t know how they chose, but I am so honored to have this opportunity, and be able to walk down the runway with this beautiful thing. I have known for five months, and I literally had to keep my mouth taped shut. I mean the only girls that knew were Taylor [Hill], Romee [Strijd], and Josephine Skriver because they were there the day of the surprise. I think it was the hardest for Taylor to keep her mouth shut because she is like a wild child. … says Jasmine. Check out her reaction at finding the news! Gigi Hadid on Her Runway Walk: “Obviously I’m not the best”

Gigi Hadid has transformed herself in the past years from a bubbly and more athletic-looking model that mostly did sexy photo-shoots to a high-fashion, much skinnier model. And this week, the blonde beauty opened up about her runway walk and how it definitely needs work. On her career as a runway model: Before I started modeling, I was more into photographers. I studied a lot how models made pictures in the sense that you have to be a positive part of a picture and make it better. And that’s what is really important for me on set. There’s some people that are bad at looking at monitors and some people that are good looking at monitors. And monitors really help me because I’m able to look at a picture and see where I fit into it, see what I can add to the picture instead of just being a person that’s on the page. “But the runway thing, it’s funny because obviously I’m not the best on the runway. But what do you do? When you’re the face of a brand you show up to the show. My first show people were already expecting a lot more from me than I [was capable of at the time]. I never was taught how to walk on the runway. And maybe that’s because it moved really quickly for me, that people just assumed that that was something I knew. So, you know, a year and a half later, I’m still learning. I got some compliments on my Tom Ford show, so I’m getting better. I’m working on it, but I’m human. I still get insecure on the runway, but it’s really exciting for me because I want to get better. I love being on the runway. … says Gigi. People’s response? Kendall Jenner Is Really Excited About Her “Tits Being Out”

Kendall Jenner is often seen walking out and about with her sisters or friends… while wearing risque outfits, as in see-through tops. Why? Turns out that Kendall gets excited for her ‘tits being out’. On her 2014 Marc Jacobs show, where she left nothing to the imagination: My biggest concern was definitely falling. And then my tits were out. I don’t know why I wasn’t nervous about that. I was really excited about my tits being out, actually. I’m weird. I love my tits being out. It’s like one of my things, I guess. On whether she would pose naked: There’s a line. But I’m young. When I’m older, I want to be able to look at it and be, like, I looked good. … says Kendall in W Magazine. Throwback – her 2014 Marc Jacobs show: See more of Kendall and her recent outfits inside! Tim Gunn: “Have you shopped retail for size 14-plus clothing? It’s a horribly insulting and demoralizing experience”

On how fashion doesn’t love plus-sized women: “I love the American fashion industry, but it has a lot of problems, and one of them is the baffling way it has turned its back on plus-size women. It’s a puzzling conundrum. The average American woman now wears between a size 16 and a size 18, according to new research from Washington State University. There are 100 million plus-size women in America, and, for the past three years, they have increased their spending on clothes faster than their straight-size counterparts. There is money to be made here ($20.4 billion, up 17 percent from 2013). But many designers — dripping with disdain, lacking imagination or simply too cowardly to take a risk — still refuse to make clothes for them.” On what designers think: “I’ve spoken to many designers and merchandisers about this. The overwhelming response is, “I’m not interested in her.” Why? “I don’t want her wearing my clothes.” Why? “She won’t look the way that I want her to look.” They say the plus-size woman is complicated, different and difficult, that no two size 16s are alike. Some haven’t bothered to hide their contempt. “No one wants to see curvy women” on the runway, Karl Lagerfeld, head designer of Chanel, said in 2009. Plenty of mass retailers are no more enlightened: Under the tenure of chief executive Mike Jeffries, Abercrombie & Fitch sold nothing larger than a size 10, with Jeffries explaining that “we go after the attractive, all-American kid. This a design failure and not a customer issue. There is no reason larger women can’t look just as fabulous as all other women. The key is the harmonious balance of silhouette, proportion and fit, regardless of size or shape. Designs need to be reconceived, not just sized up; it’s a matter of adjusting proportions. The textile changes, every seam changes. Done right, our clothing can create an optical illusion that helps us look taller and slimmer. Done wrong, and we look worse than if we were naked.” On the fact that it is depressing to shop while plus-sized: “Have you shopped retail for size 14-plus clothing? Based on my experience shopping with plus-size women, it’s a horribly insulting and demoralizing experience. Half the items make the body look larger, with features like ruching, box pleats and shoulder pads. Pastels and large-scale prints and crazy pattern-mixing abound, all guaranteed to make you look infantile or like a float in a parade. Adding to this travesty is a major department-store chain that makes you walk under a marquee that reads “WOMAN.” What does that even imply? That a “woman” is anyone larger than a 12, and everyone else is a girl? It’s mind-boggling.” On how plus-size collections are all dated: “Despite the huge financial potential of this market, many designers don’t want to address it. It’s not in their vocabulary. Today’s designers operate within paradigms that were established decades ago, including anachronistic sizing. (Consider the fashion show: It hasn’t changed in more than a century.) But this is now the shape of women in this nation, and designers need to wrap their minds around it. I profoundly believe that women of every size can look good. But they must be given choices. Separates — tops, bottoms — rather than single items like dresses or jumpsuits always work best for the purpose of fit. Larger women look great in clothes skimming the body, rather than hugging or cascading. There’s an art to doing this. Designers, make it work.” … says Tim.
