Jennifer Lawrence drew a mustache & unibrow on herself for the paps

Jennifer Lawrence

Here are some new photos of Jennifer Lawrence in NYC where she’s been looking for an apartment. She’s reportedly holding herself to a $10,000 per month budget, which sounds like a lot of money. It IS a lot, but it won’t get her a penthouse in Manhattan. The sure thing about JLaw setting up a secondary home base (in addition to her enviable LA digs) in the Big Apple is that she’ll get papped more often. Photogs are harder to avoid without a gated residence and long driveway in a private neighborhood.

Jennifer has definitely been papped a lot lately. We saw her imitating a goofy walrus with chopsticks. Now there are even stranger photos that show JLaw walking around with a scribbled mustache and unibrow. You can see the pictures here. She knew these pictures would end up splashed all over the internet, which is why she pulled an 8th grade move.

Now I’m scratching my head over this behavior. With the chopsticks, I figured she was sloshed and slipped into goofball mode. This face-drawing seems like a beg for attention. Such playfulness is probably her usual behavior behind closed doors, but JLaw has always kept a poker face around the paparazzi. She’ll flip them off (literally and figuratively). Why is she suddenly willing to attract attention from the cameras? Some people think she’s deflecting from the Chris Martin photos where he’s walking arm-in-arm with Kylie Minogue. I’m starting to believe this may be the case.

Benedict Cumberbatch covers Time Mag’s ‘Genius Issue’: otter realness?

bendy time

I’m sure there are twenty million new Benedict Cumberbatch interviews I’m ignoring, but what can I say? After a relative Cumberdearth for most of the year, we are being gifted with an Excess Batching. And the rumors were true – Benedict and an original Enigma machine cover the new issue of Time Magazine this week. It’s “The Genius Issue.” Time really loves Benedict, right? This is the second time he’s made the cover. Time hasn’t released their cover story online for non-subscribers, but if you do subscribe, go here to read the piece. I’m including one of the Time videos at the end of the post. I do like this cover – it’s not as OTTERFACE REALNESS as some of his other mag covers.

What else… the New York Times had a little write-up about Benedict, Harvey Weinstein, Charles Dance and Keira Knightley at the post-premiere party. Benedict is drinking, Keira is abstaining (probably because she’s totes preggo, at least in my mind), and Charles Dance was comparing her TIG character to Tywin Lannister. Harvey says that his wife, Georgina Chapman (of Marchesa!) thinks Benedict is “the hottest thing in the world.” Cough. Please God, do not let Benedict or Sophie wear any Marchesa.

And there’s this too – Us Weekly got an “exclusive” statement from Bendy about his wedding plans:

Sherlock may keep his wedding a complete secret! Benedict Cumberbatch briefly opened up about his impending nuptials to fiancee Sophie Hunter during the CNN Heroes event in NYC on Tuesday, Nov. 18.

“I think I’ll be having a very private wedding,” the 38-year-old told Us Weekly on the red carpet.

The soon-to-be spouses stepped out following the news for Cumberbatch’s Imitation Game NYC premiere on Nov. 17. There, Hunter showed off her eye-catching halo set diamond ring.

[From Us Weekly]

Well… yeah. I mean, what’s the alternative? A big, splashy public wedding? Otters do like to splash things… but no, he’s not going to, like, sell his wedding photos to People Magazine. But if they do marry, I bet it will be in London and I bet some paparazzi do get some shots.

You can see the behind-the-scenes Time Magazine videos here. Here’s a video of Bendy talking about TIG:

Lena Dunham wasn’t going to pay any of the other artists on her book tour

wenn21692367

Lena Dunham’s book tour begins today. She wrote the memoir/advice book Not That Kind of Girl, which she’s been promoting all over the place for the past few weeks. She’s had glowing write-ups in the New York Times and People Magazine already, and I imagine there’s more to come. The NYT also wrote a preview of Lena’s 11-city book tour a few days ago, and they made it sound less like a book tour and more like a concentrated “festival” with other kinds of entertainment featured at each stop. Except the other entertainers wouldn’t be getting paid?

Last month, the writer, actor and producer Lena Dunham started an ambitious project. Nearly 600 people responded to an open call for video auditions on her website, including a sand artist, a ukulele player, a cappella singers, gymnasts, performance artists and stand-up comics, even some exceptionally charismatic babies. The seven who made the final cut won’t be making cameos in “Girls,” Ms. Dunham’s HBO show about Brooklyn 20-somethings. Instead, they’ll be the warm-up acts — performing free of charge — on an elaborately produced, 11-city tour to promote Ms. Dunham’s new book, “Not That Kind of Girl.”

“Three of the videos were disturbing, but the rest were super awesome,” Ms. Dunham said, adding that she spent several hours screening the auditions in bed.

In an era when author tours and splashy book parties have grown increasingly rare, Ms. Dunham has organized a traveling circus of sorts that seems more like a roving Burning Man festival than a sober, meet-the-author literary event. Prominent comedians and writers, such as the “Portlandia” star Carrie Brownstein and the novelist Zadie Smith, have thrown their weight behind Ms. Dunham and will appear on her tour as part of a carefully curated cast of artists, along with live music, poetry readings and, naturally, food trucks.

“I found the idea of a traditional author tour, where you go and stand behind the lectern and talk about yourself, I found it a little bit embarrassing, a little blatantly self-promotional and a little boring,” Ms. Dunham said. “I wanted it to have an arts festival feel, which is why we now have all these remarkable, special weirdos who I found on the Internet.”

Ms. Dunham’s critics are likely to see these highly produced spectacles as an over-the-top marketing stunt or yet another example of her inflated sense of self as an artist. Her fans are lining up, though. In less than a week, the tour sold around 8,000 tickets, which are selling for $38 at most locations. Tickets include a $28 signed hardcover of “Not That Kind of Girl,” which Random House is releasing on Tuesday.

[From The NYT]

Gawker pointed out that it’s a douche move to not pay the other performers at all, especially considering Special Snowflake Dunham got a $3.5 million advance for the book, plus she’ll get royalties and such. And this whole festival atmosphere was her idea. So after Gawker pointed out Lena’s douche move, she got on Twitter to explain:

As an artist raised by artists, no one believes more than I do that creators should be fairly compensated for their work.

This feature of the tour was meant to be a way to showcase local talent and I could not be more excited about it.

Some good points were raised and I’ve ensured that all opening acts will be compensated for their time, their labor and their talents.

The fact that Gawker pointed this out really proves Judd Apatow’s saying that “a good note can come from anywhere.”

[From Lena’s Twitter]

“The fact that Gawker pointed this out really proves Judd Apatow’s saying that ‘a good note can come from anywhere’”??? Brilliant save, Lena. You can’t tell me she didn’t know that the artists weren’t being paid and she only “ensured” their pay after Gawker pointed it out. And Lena still acts like she has the moral high ground, like she’s deigning to listen to advice from the peasants at Gawker.

Kim Kardashian’s Wedding Dress

So it happened. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West got married in Florence this weekend and it didn’t involve all of the world’s communication systems being appropriated to broadcast the couple’s vows, or any planets being forcibly re-aligned to spell out KIMYE 4 EVA. Whew.

It was still pretty elaborate though.  The menu sounded insanely yummy, and Elton John, Andrea Bocelli, John Legend and Lana del Rey all performed — though of course Kanye himself took the mic to rap at the end of the first dance. Also, his toast was more of a rant because, well, it’s Kanye.

Kim‘s brother Rob missed the ceremony because of some family drama, while Beyonce was also a no-show (though she did offer her congrats on Instagram).

The only glimpses of Kim’s Givenchy wedding dress we seem to be getting are from Instagram shots, which means they’ve undoubtedly signed a lucrative deal to splash the photos across the pages of some glossy, so don’t expect this story to go away anytime soon.
