Cincinnati Zoo Parents May Be Charged in Connection to Gorilla Shooting

The fallout from this weekend’s tragic shooting at the Cincinnati Zoo continues. As previously documented, and as depicted in the video below, a four-year old boy fell into the gorilla enclosure at this famous facility on Saturday, May 28. After the gigantic animals grabbed hold of the boy and started thrashing him about, officials were left with no choice but to have an employee fatally shoot the gorilla, who was 17 years old and named Harambe. Was the animal protecting the toddler? Hurting him? About to cause him real harm? Debate has raged all over the Internet in regard to the incident, with critics wondering why the zoo could not simply use a tranquilizer on the gorilla. The zoo has responded by saying the tranquilizer would have taken too long to go into effect. Others have placed the blame squarely at the feet of the boy’s parents, specifically his mother, Michelle Gregg. In response to the criticism she has received online, Gregg posted (and then deleted) a Facebook message that referred to the situation as an “accident” and which thanked God for keeping her son safe. Celebrities from all walks of entertainment life have also weighed in on the death of Harambe: View Slideshow: Harambe Mourned, Celebrated by Celebrities Everywhere Now, sources have confirmed that Cincinnati police are looking into Gregg and Deonne Dickerson, the boy’s father, even though the latter was not at the zoo when his son fell into the gorilla pit.  Authorities are reportedly reviewing “the actions of the parents/family that led up to the incident,” according to TMZ, implying they may be charged with the crime of negligence. Do you think they ought to be? Or was this just a very unfortunate accident that has taken on a life of its own due to the Internet? An insider also says the Zoo is NOT under investigation of any kind. It falls under the jurisdiction of the United States Department of Agriculture.

Rihanna’s street style: are you feeling her ’70s-style Dolce & Gabbana caftan?

Here are some street-style photos of Rihanna out and about in NYC on Sunday. She was apparently running some errands or doing some shopping. This is how Rihanna “runs errands.” She wears a bright Dolce & Gabbana caftan, Stella McCartney platform shoes and no Dior sunglasses! Incidentally, that sunglasses-story last Friday has made me review my previous opinions on cheap sunglasses. Maybe I will try an expensive pair of sunglasses one day, just to see what they’re like. As for Rihanna’s D&G caftan… it’s summery, it’s beachy, it’s glam and like most of what Rihanna wears, it probably only looks good on Rihanna and no one else. Don’t get me wrong, I long for the day when “caftans-as-outerwear” makes a triumphant return. People always roll their eyes at ‘70s style, but I love the ‘70s look of caftans and prints. What I hate here is Rihanna’s shoe choice. Those Stella McCartney shoes are just THE WORST. Speaking of shoes, Rihanna’s collaboration with Puma is still going strong. Puma released their third collection with Rihanna a few days ago and the sneakers sold out in just 35 minutes online. I’m telling you, Rihanna has the Midas touch when it comes to style/accessories and more designers should pursue her for collaborations. Julia Roberts laughed at ‘image-obsessed’ Amal Clooney: ‘She’s so absurd’

As previewed yesterday, this week’s tabloids are full of interesting/funny/untrue speculation about George and Amal Clooney’s marriage, based solely on their appearance at the Cannes Film Festival last week. For the record (since we’re on the record!), I kind of think George and Amal are fine. Their first year of marriage was a whirlwind of craziness, but they seem to have “settled down” quite a bit in 2016. Still, I always enjoy some good Amal gossip. In Touch Weekly had the longer story full of deliciously bitchy details. Some highlights: Amal’s posing. An insider says: “Cannes has strict rules about a non-movie member posing for obligatory cast photos – it’s a big deal and very rare for a spouse to join. But Amal, with George’s blessing of course, barged right in. Amal wore a look-at-me bright yellow gown amid the cast’s sea of black, she had trouble adjusting her long train in the wind so she also held up the entire process, which meant all eyes were on her.” Julia was pissed. “Julia was stunned that Amal tried to steal her show and her thunder, and that George actually let her.” So in retaliation, Julia flirted with George, and the source says, “Amal felt like Julia was flirting with George and she was seething!” Amal hates Julia. Amal hated how friendly George and Julia were on the set of Money Monster and “Amal can’t stand how Julia monopolizes her husband’s time.” After the Cannes red carpet, Amal pulled George aside and told him that Julia was being “disrespectful.” Julia “was so mad that she had a mini-meltdown about it and was overheard complaining about Amal’s rude move and George should have known better.” Julia hates Amal too. After spending some time with Amal and George in Como, Italy last summer, “Julia left with a very bad taste in her mouth.” Julia would “mock image-obsessed Amal behind her back after seeing how Amal constantly had her hair and makeup touched up and wore glamorous gowns during a casual weekend.” A source says: “Julia laughed at her because she thinks she’s so absurd.” [From In Touch Weekly, print edition] While I think this whole thing is being overblown, I do believe that there’s some shade and gossip going on at the core. Like, Julia was pissed that Amal was being so showy and look-at-me. And Amal was pissed because Julia was goose-honking all over George. I also sort of believe that Amal is severely image-obsessed? That’s just my gut-level reaction to seeing her pap strolls and red carpet posing. Meanwhile, Star Magazine claims that Amal and George looked like they were having serious problems at Cannes. A Cannes tipster reveals that after George and Amal walked the Cannes carpet together, they stopped pretending to be all lovey-dovey. “Once inside, it was obvious to everyone there that George and Amal had been fighting all day. I don’t think either one of them wanted to be there.” Arms crossed and scowl fixed, it was clear the human rights lawyer wasn’t happy with her husband. In fact, eyewitnesses say the two barely said a word to each other during dinner that night at Le Michelangelo in Antibes and cast a frosty chill over the afterparty at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc. “It looked like George truly regretted bringing Amal out. Angelina Jolie will be a visiting professor at the London School of Economics

Angelina Jolie’s film career has been sidelined largely by her own choice for a while now, especially in the past year. After the terrible reviews of By the Sea, Angelina has spent months focusing on her humanitarian work. Brad is currently filming a movie with Marion Cotillard in England and all over Europe, and so Angelina and the kids have been calling London home for months. It’s been a good phase for Angelina, mostly because I think she really has just been focusing completely on humanitarian work. She’s set up a new advocacy partnership focusing on sexual crimes in conflict and war. She also gave an amazing speech at the BBC last week. And now this… Dame Saint Angelina is now Professor Dame Saint Angelina. Angelina Jolie Pitt is taking her passion for women’s rights and gender equality to the classroom. The actress, 40, is set to join the London School of Economics as a visiting professor for the new masters course on women, peace and security for the 2016-2017 school year. As a visiting professor, Jolie Pitt will deliver guest lectures, participate in workshop and public events, and continue research on projects. “I am very encouraged by the creation of this master’s programme. I hope other academic institutions will follow this example, as it is vital that we broaden the discussion on how to advance women’s rights and end impunity for crimes that disproportionately affect women, such as sexual violence in conflict,” Jolie Pitt said in a statement. “I am looking forward to teaching and to learning from the students as well as to sharing my own experiences of working alongside governments and the United Nations.” The course, which is the first of its kind internationally, was launched last year by Jolie Pitt and Britain’s former foreign secretary, William Hauge – who will also serve as a visiting professor. The Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security Ambassador Melanne Verveer said they, too, are looking forward to bringing the program to the stateside campus. “I was pleased to meet with Angelina Jolie during my recent trip to London on ways we at Georgetown University can continue the collaboration between our sister programs on both sides of the Atlantic,” said Verveer. “We look forward to welcoming Angelina and former foreign secretary Hague to Georgetown in the future.” [From People] I would have loved to take a class with a Professor Jolie. The class seems tailored to her expertise too, and the LSE is also where Jolie and William Hague founded the Centre on Women, Peace and Security last year. My guess is that Jolie’s professorship will be part of the new center/program. Can you even imagine being a masters student and having Angelina Jolie walk into the classroom? Leah Messer: Daughter Losing Too Much Weight?

This season alone, fans have slammed Leah Messer a multitude of times for bad parenting. And we're feeling another strike coming on. In a preview clip for Teen Mom 2, Corey Simms brings up concerns about six-year-old Ali, the daughter he shares with Leah. Ali, who suffers from muscular dystrophy, is losing too much weight, Corey believes. "Next time we go to Columbus, if I can't go, you might want to mention about her diet," Corey tells Leah as she drops off their daughter. Leah appears perplexed. "Diet?" she asks, quizzically. "How she's not eating," Corey explains. "It takes everything I got to get her to eat." Leah tells her ex that Ali eats when she's with her, but Corey doesn't think it's sufficient. "She eats, but she doesn't eat enough," he says. "She's been not eating for a while." "We weighed her and now she's 34 pounds," he continues. "I think she's lost weight because she was almost 40 pounds." Leah looks concerned, confused and tired, then argues that she thinks Ali hasn't gained or lost weight, but is just staying the same. Still, she agrees to make a doctor's appointment for their daughter to appease Corey. Earlier this week, Leah was criticized for allowing her other daughter, Adalynn, to eat frosting straight out of the container. Back in March, she came under fire for failing to feed her kids breakfast before school. Is it possible Leah doesn't understand the concept of proper nourishment for children? Or is she really just the victim of unfair editing, like she has been asserting for the past few months? You be the judge:

Chloë Grace Moretz and Brooklyn Beckham make red carpet debut: cute?

With the dress’ frayed, open knit and saloon girl fringe draped over the arm combined with an exposed sheer black lace bra, I don’t think she needed the tussled locks for the just-rolled-out-of-bed look. In Chloë’s defense, she is wearing the look as it was shown on the runway, I’m just not sure she should have. Anyway, Chloë, 19, walked with OFFICIAL boyfriend, Brooklyn Beckman, 17, on their first red carpet! The couple started dating about two years ago but were cagey about their status for some time. Well, no longer: Social Media Posting? Check. Official Confirmation? Check. Red Carpet Appearance? Check – folks, this relationship has lift-off. Brooklyn, looking a great deal like Blane from Pretty in Pink, happy posed with his girlfriend on her big night and the two shared the same amount of PDA as they did while dining with their families last month. Chloe Grace Moretz and Brooklyn Beckham just took a major step in their relationship. The two hit their first red carpet together earlier tonight at the Hollywood premiere of Moretz’s new comedy Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising. “Now, it’s out. It’s done,” Moretz, 19, told me. “Get over it. It’s real. We’re together and that’s it!” Beckham, 17, actually surprised Moretz by flying in for the premiere from London. “He’s very sweet,” Moretz said, adding, “He’s a very very genuine man. He’s a gentle man.” The two took some photos before Moretz made her way down the carpets to do interviews. Beckham was spotted hanging out behind the step and repeat before heading into the theater. Moretz also gushed about Brooklyn’s mom Victoria Beckham. Yes, they talk about fashion. “She’s a sweetie,” said Moretz, who was wearing a black ensemble from Alexander McQueen. “I love everything she does. We definitely give each other compliments, that’s for sure.” The raunchy Neighbors sequel is something different for Moretz. In fact, she even shot a sex scene with Efron. While it didn’t make the final cut of the movie, Moretz said, “We’re going to release it online pretty soon. It’s pretty wild.” [From E! News] Okay, it’s kind of sweet that he flew in to surprise her for the premiere – but that is as generous as I am going to get. Is it just me or is Chloë reading a little more importance into her relationship than, say, the rest of the world? “Get over it”? Well, gosh, give me a minute to… oh, wait – I am over it. Moreham (Chlooklyn?) does want us to know that they have only recently reunited. This may be due to the fact that Brooklyn’s relationship with Sonia Ben Ammar just ended in March. However, reminding the world she had him first, Chloë told Entertainment Tonight that they met, “a long time ago, years ago.” She also says Brooklyn’s, “… a sweetie. He’s a good boy!” (ruff!) In the excerpt above, she calls Victoria Beckham “a sweetie” as well. So I guess all the Beckhams are just a big bunch of sweeties. I may pass on the sex scene between Chloë and Zac Efron, though. Chloe may be 19 but she doesn’t quite look it to me. The good news for Chloë is Neighbors 2, which opens this Friday, is – so far – getting semi-decent reviews as a comedy. Ingrid Seward: Duchess Kate ‘is absolutely terrified of not doing it right’

Ingrid Seward is a prominent editor, writer and royal biographer in the UK. She’s the editor for Majesty Magazine, but she writes for other publications and provides quotes and explanatory interviews for American publications. The last time we mentioned Seward, it was last month. She wrote a SCATHING piece for the Daily Mail following several high-profile misfires and PR bungles from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Seward attacked them openly, calling them “a rich, increasingly spoiled couple growing surprisingly distant.” She attacked their privilege, their tone-deaf PR strategies, their entitlement. It was pretty amazing. But now Will and Kate’s fifth anniversary is coming up (tomorrow) and Seward has been called in to offer analysis of how Kate has fared in her first five years within The Firm. How Kate has done in five years: “I think she’s integrated extremely well. It’s not easy – not a lot of guidance – but of course she has the best teacher in William. I think that’s made a massive difference – having his hand on her hand. She hasn’t made any mistakes which is extraordinary when you think of how difficult it is for her. I suppose the only mistake she’s made is that she’s probably seen not always as particularly interesting but I think she’s absolutely terrified of not doing it right. I think she feels a great responsibility on her slender shoulders to do the right thing and be seen to be doing the right thing.” Whether Kate needs to step up & have a larger voice: “She’s got so long to be there that I don’t think there’s any need for her to be passing her own opinions yet because she’s got years to do it. If she wanted to do, she would, but she obviously doesn’t want to.” Will & Kate are BFFs: “I think she’s probably his best friend and vice versa. You get pretty isolated up there in that ivory tower of royalty.” The “workshy” and “dolittle” criticisms: “The timing was right for a couple of blips to happen. They were so much on top of the pedestal there was only one way and that was down.” [From The Daily Mirror] Well, somebody is back in the good graces of Poor Jason. Even though other outlets are running with the “Kate is terrified” quote like it’s some kind of shade, that quote actually reads as a compliment. As in, Seward thinks Kate has barely made any mistakes in the past five years. Which… really? And here’s the thing: last month, I thought the workshy/dolittle thing was going to blow over too. But the British-media reaction to Will and Kate’s India-Bhutan tour made it clear that the gloves are off with the Cambridges and that (to mix metaphors) a page has been turned. So it will be interesting to see if Poor Jason can work his magic and create some positive headlines around this anniversary… which I assume Will and Kate will be spending “privately.” Probably with Carole.
