Calvin Harris to Taylor Swift: ‘You need someone new to try & bury like Katy’

I updated yesterday’s post as news kept coming in, but it’s worth discussing all of the crap that happened after TMZ reported – based off of what they were being told from sources close to Taylor Swift – that Swifty was the one who wrote Calvin Harris’s hit song “This Is What You Came For,” which features vocals by Rihanna. As it turns out, the conspiracy theory/rumor was and is absolutely true. Taylor’s rep confirmed it to People Magazine yesterday, saying: “Taylor Swift wrote ‘This Is What You Came For’ under the pseudonym Nils Sjoberg.” People Mag also ran what amounted to a confirmation of TMZ’s earlier reporting, that Taylor was very hurt when Calvin said he didn’t want to collaborate with her after they had already collaborated. So what was Calvin’s reaction to Team Swifty running to the press to correct the record? He got on Twitter and dragged her. Here’s what he wrote: And she sings on a little bit of it too ?Amazing lyric writer and she smashed it as usual https://t.co/vW3yGOIJit — Calvin Harris (@CalvinHarris) July 13, 2016 I wrote the music, produced the song, arranged it and cut the vocals though. And initially she wanted it kept secret, hence the pseudonym — Calvin Harris (@CalvinHarris) July 13, 2016 Hurtful to me at this point that her and her team would go so far out of their way to try and make ME look bad at this stage though ? — Calvin Harris (@CalvinHarris) July 13, 2016 I figure if you're happy in your new relationship you should focus on that instead of trying to tear your ex bf down for something to do — Calvin Harris (@CalvinHarris) July 13, 2016 I know you're off tour and you need someone new to try and bury like Katy ETC but I'm not that guy, sorry. I won't allow it — Calvin Harris (@CalvinHarris) July 13, 2016 Please focus on the positive aspects of YOUR life because you've earned a great one — Calvin Harris (@CalvinHarris) July 13, 2016 I know I’ve criticized Calvin Harris before for his pettiness and inability to simply let go of the drama. But really… how amazing is this? This is Calvin Harris being a bitchy schoolgirl which is TOTALLY TAYLOR SWIFT’S LEVEL. He’s all, “Why do you keep leaking stories about me, aren’t you with the new love of your life?” And “Don’t try to ‘Bad Blood’ me, chica.” Once again, Calvin and Taylor were so perfect for each other. They are both equally petty and juvenile. And it is glorious. Oh, and Taylor couldn’t let Calvin’s tweets just sit there, she responded via TMZ, insisting that Calvin is trying to downplay her involvement in the song, that she not only wrote the lyrics but also created the melody. “Calvin sources” concede that Taylor did create the melody, but insist that Calvin did everything else. And those Calvin sources say Taylor is “acting like he’s only got one hit song. LOL.” But my favorite part is that since Calvin name-checked Katy Perry – Taylor’s #1 Nemesis!!! – Katy felt the need to chime in too. The Hillary GIF came first, then the retweet from 2015. Bless her. pic.twitter.com/m6ebYV8D1r — KATY PERRY (@katyperry) July 13, 2016 Time, the ultimate truth teller. — KATY PERRY (@katyperry) May 9, 2015 Photos courtesy of Calvin and Taylor’s social media, Fame/Flynet.

Bradley Cooper & Irina Shayk got into a public tiff at Wimbledon on Sunday

Several of you guys wanted to talk about this, so you better click & comment! Because when I saw this story earlier this morning, I didn’t give a crap. Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk were in London for a week to attend Wimbledon games. They were spotted nearly every day, mostly at the men’s matches. They attended Andy Murray’s final on Sunday, and Bradley and Irina were seated just next to Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter. Suddenly, everything seemed to go wrong for B-Coop and Irina. She turned stone-faced at one point, even though Bradley was trying to make her laugh. She ignored him when he spoke to her. Some even thought she was crying at one point. What was this all about? Did Bradley say something rude to her? Was Bradley’s ex-girlfriend Suki Waterhouse – who was also in attendance – an issue in the fight? Was there some kind of breakdown in (alleged!) contractual negotiations? So…? Whatever happened between them, everything’s fine now. Until we learn two weeks from now that they actually broke up and suddenly Bradley is with some new swimwear/lingerie model. Zachary Quinto hopes George Takei changes his mind about Sulu being gay

Embed from Getty Images Australian outlet Pedestrian.TV asked Star Trek: Beyond star and openly gay actor Zachary Quinto (Spock) to respond to George Takei’s negative take on the fact that the character he played in the original TV series, Sulu, was going to be made gay in the upcoming prequel. As you may recall, Takei said that while he was “delighted that there’s a gay character” that he found it to be a “twisting of [creator] Gene [Rodenberry’s] creation, to which he put in so much thought.” and that he thought it was “really unfortunate.” Takei had explained to both John Cho, who plays him in the reboot, and director Justin Lin why he didn’t want Sulu to be gay and how it was unrealistic for the character that he be closeted throughout his life essentially. They went ahead with that direction for the character despite Takei’s objections. So Quinto has a response for Takei and while the headlines make it seem like he’s going hard against Takei’s statement, in the actual video he’s more measured and makes it about the broader point on inclusion. As a member of the LGBT community myself I was disappointed by the fact that George was disappointed. I think any member of the LGBT community that takes issue with the normalized and positive portrayal of members of our community in Hollywood and in mainstream blockbuster cinema… I get it that he has his own personal journey and his own personal relationship with this character but, you know, as we’ve established in the first Star Trek Film in 2009 we’ve created an alternate universe and my hope is that eventually George can be strengthened by the enormously positive response especially from young people who are heartened by and inspired by this really tasteful and beautiful portrayal of something that I think is gaining acceptance and inclusion in our societies across the world and should be. [From Video on Facebook] So Quinto kind of gets why Takei would object to his character having an entirely different backstory but doesn’t think it matters in the long run, which kind of goes to show how Takei got ignored in the first place. Of course it’s nice to have a gay character in Star Trek but I think they should have listened to Takei and respected his wishes instead of assuming they were doing homage to him. Takei made it clear ahead of time that wasn’t the case and it’s like they expected him to come around, that’s basically what Quino is saying. Also, I tried to go to George Takei’s twitter account to see if he’s responded to Quinto and I just got lost in all the excellent links he shares. (I searched on “Zachary” and “Quinto” on his account and there’s nothing recent.) While searching on Twitter I found that Simon Pegg issued a lengthy response to Takei as well. Pegg defended their decision to make Sulu gay and wrote that they never suggest in the film that Sulu was ever closeted, that it’s an “alternate timeline” with “alternate details” and that “We could have introduced a new gay character, but he or she would have been primarily defined by their sexuality, seen as the ‘gay character’, rather than simply for who they are, and isn’t that tokenism?” Ok, so when Takei said he objected to his character being gay because it wasn’t right for Sulu, did they consider making a different core character gay, like Scotty? 13 Most Toxic Relationships in Reality TV History

Reality TV shows feature a lot of couples. They make up the bulk of the action that comes from these programs, on a typical basis. Some of the relationships are just plain toxic, making us question why they even tried in the first place. We've compiled a gallery of some of the most toxic reality TV relationships below: 1. Sammi and Ronnie – Jersey Shore These two were constantly fighting. Their relationship has been on and off like a light switch, but there’s word that the two of them are back together… AGAIN! 2. Spencer and Heidi – The Hills Remember when Heidi was a great character on The Hills before Spencer Pratt came around? He turned her against her BFF and made it clear that she would abide by everything he said. They constantly bickered, but they’re still together. 3. Rachel and Brendan – Big Brother It was love at first sight for these two, but things changed out of the house when Brendan sent pics of his nether regions to another chick. They’re now married, but we don’t know just how toxic they still are. 4. Kailyn and Javi – Teen Mom 2 These two just always seemed to be arguing about something, so it came as no surprise that they finally parted ways. 5. Dustin and Heather – The Real World Dustin and Heather seemed like the perfect couple on The Real World, but things took a crazy turn when Dustin just couldn’t stop lying to Heather. They reunited shortly after the show concluded, but they’re apart right now. 6. Marcus and Lacy – Bachelor In Paradise Marcus and Lacy seemed like the perfect couple, but that was far from the case and it came out that their relationship turned toxic shortly after the cameras stopped rolling. They are no longer a thing. View Slideshow

Pippa Middleton steps out with her boyfriend James Matthews at Wimbledon

Finally! Pippa Middleton has been dating James Matthews – who is terribly rich, btw – since November-ish of last year. I strongly suspect that there was overlap between “the start of James Matthews” and “the end of Nico Jackson,” the British tabloids really want to marry off Pippa, so they’re not making a big deal about it. No one wants to scare this one off! So Pippa hasn’t been doing pap strolls with James Matthews, and he has not been her plus-one at any charity events. But I asked/hoped for some coupled-up photos of James and Pippa at Wimbledon and here we are! Pippa and James Matthews came out to Wimbledon on Wednesday for Roger Federer’s quarter-final match against Marin Cilic (Federer won). This really is their first official-ish public appearance together. There’s also a rumor going around that James is going to propose to Pippa in the coming months, although that story sounds like it came from Carole Middleton, so… you know, it might not happen. What do we think of James? I think… he doesn’t really look like Pippa’s type? Her previous boyfriends seemed like buff, athletic types and pretty boys. James Matthews seems sort of small and not that athletic. Maybe he has a really great personality. Pippa’s dress in these photos is Tabitha Webb. I strongly suspect that many of you Middleton-watchers are correct and Pippa is being paid to wear certain designers, or she’s getting these dresses free on the condition that she wears them to Wimbledon. I don’t really care for this look, but at least she didn’t flash anyone. Embed from Getty Images Embed from Getty Images Photos courtesy of Pacific Coast News, Getty.

Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston prove the sparks are still flying this holiday weekend: https://t.co/NqiM32MNvL pic.twitter.com/lpRq28WR6b — E! News (@enews) July 4, 2016 As everyone predicted, Tom Hiddleston magically appeared in Rhode Island this weekend for Taylor Swift’s annual Fourth of July bash. This year’s attendees included Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Ruby Rose, Karlie Kloss, Gigi Hadid and Uzo Aduba. No Selena Gomez? Hm. But whatever girl drama Swifty might have with her squad isn’t the story. No, the story is that even after a days-long “breather” from each other, Taylor and Tom are still in love. TIDDLES IS FOR REAL. The Daily Mail has the best/clearest photos of the beach party here. Tom Hiddleston declares his love for Taylor Swift with 'tattoo' and a t-shirt https://t.co/gC5gXzeoXu pic.twitter.com/AGjXzEL1EL — Daily Mail Celebrity (@DailyMailCeleb) July 4, 2016 Tom wore a “I HEART T.S.” t-shirt. Taylor wore an “America” bikini from Forever 21. They also had temporary tattoos with each other’s names/initials. I can already feel the Bump Watch happening with those photos of Taylor too. For what it’s worth, I examined her bump-area closely too. But I don’t think she’s knocked up. My gut says that she’s put on a few pounds (just a few, literally) because she’s not touring and she’s just on vacation. I will say this though: Taylor redid her boob job. She got a boob job several years back, but I’m now positive that she went and got them redone, with bigger, rounder implants. She has absolutely gone up a cup size at least. Meanwhile, there were some assorted tabloid/whatever stories this holiday weekend. *The Daily Mail ran a breakdown of Tom’s ancestral line, because why not? The DM did the same thing with Benedict Cumberbatch a while back, and you can see the DM’s Hiddles story here. *Tom wants to ignore all of the criticism TIDDLES has been getting. A source told Reveal Mag that “Tom’s been incredibly supportive. When this backlash started, she was worried he’d cut and run, but it’s been the opposite. He’s done wonders to cheer Taylor up, when this is exactly the sort of thing that would normally really upset her. He even made a joke about how they’re moving too fast, and he mock-proposed to her with one of those plastic kiddie rings you get from a bubblegum machine. She thought it was hilarious.” Jesus, are they BOTH 13 years old? *E! News has been running critical stories about Tiddles for more than a week. Critical as in “is this entire mess a showmance?” Well, E! spoke to Famously Single “dating coach” Laurel House to analyze the Tiddles romance. House thinks Swifty “finally broke her bad boy addiction. ‘Bad’ and ‘boy’ both being operative words. With Calvin, he was a good guy which prepared her for Tom, who is her man. Is it too fast? Is she flaunting it? Maybe! Maybe she’s not going about it the right way, but I do feel like this is authentic. She finally found what she needs: safe, sexy and seen.” I’ll say. People Mag writer calls out celebrities & publicists in a hilarious resignation letter

Sara Hammel may be my new hero. Hammel was, up until recently, an award-winning entertainment journalist working for People Magazine. Hammel had been working for People Mag for 14 years as a freelance writer, and she had covered some really big entertainment stories, like Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ Rome wedding. Well, after 14 years, she had enough. Enough of the celebrities, enough of their bats—t crazy publicists, and enough of the not-so-subtle changes with how People Magazine functions as an entertainment news source. So when Hammel resigned, she did so in a letter which is being called “bridge-burning” and “scorched earth.” And not only that, she made the letter public, so anyone can read it. Here you go: Dear People Magazine, I quit. It’s not me, it’s you. It’s been a wildly dysfunctional 14 years, and you’re an entirely different magazine than when we first got together. I swear half the current staff doesn’t know my name, despite my contribution to something like fifteen hundred stories in your celebrity annals, so here’s a refresher: I worked inside your London, Los Angeles and New York bureaus, covered breaking news in nine countries, and dealt with too many celebrities to remember (I know this because I was cruising through your archives recently and found my name on files I had no recollection of writing, and interviews with people I have no memory of meeting, like Ellen and Portia together, plus both leads in Nip/Tuck and that guy from Burn Notice). My first celebrity assignment for you was Spice Girl Geri Halliwell in 2002. My last was Robert De Niro in April 2016. In between, there were memorable encounters galore, including making the gorgeous and empathic Mariska Hargitay ugly-cry (turns out she cries at like every charity-related event, phew), enduring an Oscar winner’s public bullying over an intimate dinner, facing a personal crisis at Tom Cruise’s wedding in Rome, getting basically, kind of spat on by a snotty J. Lo (okay, it was like a very wet pffttt in my general direction, really obnoxious), having fun with endless lower-key celebs like Rosario Dawson and Kyle MacLachlan and Michael Douglas, observing just how stiff and awkward George Clooney is around kids, insulting Sheryl Crow’s baby, and getting groped/harrassed by an A-list [omitted] performer in New York and Paris (that’s not to be flip—it was violating as hell. I’m still pissed I didn’t jab him in the balls with my pen). This is just what the entitled stars and their bat—t crazy publicists put me and many other talented, hard-working reporters through. You people, as it turns out, are worse. Stupidly, we expect loyalty and support from you after years of service. We are naïve. Despite your nicey nice, glossy and chirpy veneer, some of us think of you more as the Leo DiCaprio of magazines, using up every beautiful model that crosses your path (“beautiful model”= “award-winning journalist” in this scenario), discarding them, and pretending you leave no wake behind you. I’m oddly surprised my tenure here is ending not with explosive hatred stoked by a cold dismissal from an insensate behemoth (i.e. you)—a fate I watched ashen-faced friends and colleagues endure before my eyes during the Los Angeles bureau’s 2008 culling—but with a slow fade-out and a final venting of my gossip-weary spleen. Then again, that’s why I’m happy being freelance. I’ve survived something like eight rounds of layoffs where talented colleagues were bitch-slapped into oblivion and, I hope, will never give their nights, weekends, relationships and sanity again to keep up with an email chain about whether Jennifer Aniston is pregnant at 47 because of those tummy photos and what kind of mom will she be, when really she just had an extra burrito at lunch; but oh, wait, the rep says it’s just a rumor so there’s no story this week after all. Read the rest in my mini-memoir. I will say, what happens after that is that my debut teen mystery, the one I spent my adult life making into a reality, but which, despite the schlock regularly featured in its pages and online, People decided to ignore—more to the point, they ignored me entirely—even after I toiled away for them for 14 years. They wouldn’t even give me a digital post that I wrote, sourced, and agreed to remove the name of my book from (LOL). That book is called The Underdogs. I’ll leave you with the kicker: As I was crafting this letter, a Tweet came through from one of your top editors, Kate Coyne, crowing about her full-page People feature promoting her brand-new book, accompanied by a colorful screenshot. “Don’t ask how, but I got in touch with someone at @people—now I’m in the new issue. So grateful!” You should be, Kate. Enjoy it while it lasts. Sincerely, Sara Hammel [Letter via the NY Post] That’s some good dirt! I want to know the identities of those two blind items: who is A) the Oscar winner who publicly bullied Hammel over an intimate dinner and B) the A-lister who groped and harassed her? I love all of the named shade too – while I love J.Lo, I have no doubt that she’s spat/phlegm’d on reporters. And I think the whole idea of Clooney being really awkward around children is HILARIOUS. Granted, I’m awkward with kids too, but I’m not George Clooney! As for the email chains about Jennifer Aniston’s burrito baby… that’s a very “how the sausage is made” story about editorial decisions, isn’t it? That People Mag reporters are email-chaining about Aniston possibly being pregnant at 47 is… sad, I think. Covers courtesy of People Magazine.
