Here is Khloe Kardashian’s cover editorial for Glamour Mexico, the July issue. Can’t say I’m a big fan on the dark lipstick on Khloe – it emphasizes the extent to which she’s jacked her lips. Khloe has said that this cover shoot reminded her that she wants to take out her extensions and have short hair again, which I think she should do – I really loved her lob from late last year, and I thought it was super-flattering on her. Meanwhile, Khloe went off on a long-winded tirade about the tabloid interest in her love life, which…yeah, not so much. I have some residual affection for Khloe because I think she’s “the smart one” out of her family, but this essay (on her subscription app) was just dumb. She loves it when we’re paying attention to her love life. She loves it when we’re paying attention to her in any way. “The most annoying thing about tabloid rumors is the double standard. If I’m ‘spotted’ hanging with a guy at a party – even if I’m just saying hi for a quick second – it immediately becomes a negative headline about how many guys I’m dating or how I’m getting into a new relationship. Men don’t get that reputation! They get a pat on the back. It irritates me.” “People have taken pictures of me and say they’re proof of something concrete. Pictures are just moments in time. They never show the whole truth. In Hollywood, you could go out on a first date and it could spiral into this huge thing. The headline the next day is ‘Khloé’s Getting Married!’ LOL. It’s so weird. That stuff definitely makes it difficult to take it slow and see how things go.” “I normally don’t comment on those stories, but if it gets out of control, I’ll speak up – especially because that kind of gossip affects how people see me. A guy could assume I’m dating someone and not approach me, when I’m actually single.” “Sometimes I completely avoid going out in public with a new guy because I don’t want to deal with the sexist headlines. Tony Robbins Fans Walk on Hot Coals, Unsurprisingly Get Burned

For years, motivational speaker Tony Robbins has made a killing by telling followers to "Unleash the Power Within," but they're really burned up over his teachings now. Like, literally. The author and self-help guru reportedly had fans walk over a blanket of hot coals during a seminar in Dallas, encouraging them to, ya know, conquer their fears. To the surprise of no sane individual, more than 30 participants were treated for burns to their feet and legs, with five requiring hospitalization. I'm certain there are far safer fear-conquering activities that could've worked just as well, but nothing brings out your inner carnie like hot coal-stepping. Amazingly, Robbins' people have defended the coal walk, claiming that more than 7,000 people performed the feat but only five had to be rushed to the hospital. Call me crazy, but I think that's five too many. "I know it might not look that way, but this was actually another successful fire walk," Robbins' head trainer Chad Schinke told reporters. "We had over 7,000 people that walked across the hot coals and we always have a few people that have some discomfort afterwards," he added. "Discomfort" he calls it. Dude. "We do our best to take care of them and ensure that they get whatever help that they feel like they need." "Help that they feel like they need?" This guy's a tool. Funnily enough, with every cult there are always folks drunk on Kool-Aid who refuse to fault the ringleader. "I'm just shocked, I'm out of words," said one participant. "I've never seen this in all of my events and I have to just say it has nothing to do with the training." "It has absolutely nothing to do with Tony Robbins," she added. YES IT DOES, LADY. Do we have to point out the obvious? It was his event, he suggested the ridiculous exercise and he surely knew of the dangers because even my frigging cat knows better than to do something so asinine. The god complex, people. It's a scary, scary thing.

Debra Messing apologizes for gun safety selfie at time of UCLA shooting

Debra Messing is involved with the same charity for gun safety and awareness which Julianne Moore supports: Everytown for Gun Safety. The way Moore has explained it, Everytown has some very practical solutions to control access to guns, namely running background checks and closing the loopholes which exist for gun shows and online sales. Incidentally Obama issued an executive order earlier this year to accomplish this, but without the support of the legislative branch it will be hard to effect change. Hopefully we can see some of these changes under President Clinton. (Yes I’m an optimist on several fronts.) Wednesday there was a tragic shooting at UCLA, which ended up being a murder suicide in which a man from Minnesota murdered his former engineering professor, William S. Klug. The latest in that terrible case is that the shooter also murdered his estranged wife in Minnesota before driving to Los Angeles, where he intended to kill Klug and another professor, who was not harmed. It was yet another senseless shooting which organizations like Everytown hope to prevent. Messing was taking part in a pre-planned awareness day for gun safety, and so instead of putting it off or just tweeting support for the victims at UCLA, she decided to incorporate the shootings into her selfie, and the result was… not good. She posted a photo of herself in a gun control T-shirt and tweeted that she was watching the shooting on TV. (She’s since deleted the tweet but the NY Daily News had it.) Yes that came across as self absorbed. At least she didn’t use a bunch of hashtags though, props for that. Many people started calling her out for it and the good news is that she apologized. Instead she made it about herself and it was tone deaf, but it does make sense in context. Just before posting her full apology, Messing posted a series of tweets explaining herself, stating “The pix was being taken just AS the news broke. I thought the horrendous irony of the timing shown [sic] a brighter light in the crisis and need for all of us to do something together to make the US safer. Sorry if it was misconstrued and caused offense. That’s the last thing I want to do.” As far as celebrity apologies go, her full apology is a decent one. I wish celebrities wouldn’t use the “sorry you misunderstood/sorry you were offended” line. Liam Hemsworth FINALLY Opens Up About Relationship With Miley Cyrus

Liam Hemsworth has been impressively silent when it comes to his relationship with Miley Cyrus. The two rekindled their relationship around the new year, but neither party has spoken publicly about it. Now, in an interview with GQ Australia, Liam opens up a little and confirms he and Miley are very much back on, confessing that she makes him happy. “I guess when I feel something, then I just feel it and I go for it,” Hemsworth said, speaking about their relationship. “I make my decisions about what’s going to make me happy, what I think is right and what I want to do — and I don’t worry too much outside of that,” he continued. While the Hunger Games actor does not specifically reveal their exact relationship status, he hinted that fans already knew. “People will figure it out, they already have,” he said. “They’re not dumb.” What the WHAT?! What does he mean we’ve figured it out? In the past few months, we’ve heard rumors of an engagement, a pregnancy, cheating by both parties, breakups and even a secret, unofficial beach wedding in which they exchanged palm fronds for rings. Is he saying it’s all true? You’re killing us, Liam. The most prevalent rumor as of now is that the two are engaged to be married and are preparing to wed sometime this year in Liam’s native Australia. We’ve also received reports that Miley is pregnant and planning a shotgun wedding, but we’re going to go out on a limb and say that’s probably false. But you never know, and Liam hasn’t denied it. Larry David thinks white people only pretend to like ‘Hamilton’ to be ‘hip’

I’m going back and forth about whether I think these Larry David quotes are offensive. Larry David was doing an interview with the Mike Lupica Show this week, and he was asked about the smash Broadway musical Hamilton. Hamilton has been a phenomenon for more than a year, it’s pulled in tens of millions of dollars in ticket sales, and Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda has won a Pulitzer and a Peabody, plus the musical picked up no fewer than 16 Tony Award nominations. Basically, everyone thinks Hamilton is THE BEST. Full-stop. But no, says Larry David. Hamilton is popular because white people are just pretending to like it so they can be hip. “Hamilton” may be making history on Broadway, but Larry David, for one, is curbing his enthusiasm. The comic actor took to the “Mike Lupica Show” podcast, which debuted Tuesday, to express his theory that a lot of the demand comes from white ticket-buyers trying to “solidify their liberal bona fides.” “Yeah, ‘Hamilton’ — it was pretty amazing,” David told the Daily News columnist. “But I have a feeling there are a lot of white people who are saying they are completely blown away even though they didn’t really understand half of the things the people on stage were saying. They just want to solidify their liberal bona fides and how cool they are: ‘Yea, I love Hamilton. Yea I get it, I’m hip.’” Lupica made a connection to the kind of voters who mislead political pollsters. “I think some of them are. No but, the show is amazing,” said David. “No doubt about it, it’s an incredible show, but I do have this theory on a lot of the people that are seeing it.” [From The NY Daily News] I was going to make a point about how Larry David would never say “Leonardo DiCaprio’s films are so popular because white people just want to pretend that they’re cool.” But I actually do think that happens. By most accounts, The Revenant was a beautiful snoozefest, and I do think some people said they liked the movie because they wanted to look artsy and cool. So, is that happening with Hamilton? Or is Larry David showing off some racial microaggression about Hamilton, like the only reason it’s so successful is because white people are trying to be cool about something they don’t “get”? Katherine Heigl: ‘I absolutely owe anyone an apology I unwittingly offended’

Kitty litter spokeswoman Katherine Heigl would like to explain why she shouldn’t have said all of the terrible things she’s said. Heigl appeared on Howard Stern’s show on Wednesday – perhaps to shill kitty litter? – and she and Stern ended up getting into EVERYTHING. It would involve about a million links, so perhaps it’s best to glance through our Heigl archives from the past, say, seven years. Or more. She’s been a pill for the better part of a decade and there are dozens of instances of her unpleasant attitude, diva behavior and general sourness. And what’s funny is that Howard Stern basically asked her about all of it. On criticizing Knocked Up after it made her a star: “That was dumb. I liked the movie a lot. I just didn’t like me. She was kind of like, she was so judgmental and kind of uptight and controlling and all these things and I really went with it while we were doing it, and a lot of it, Judd allows everyone to be very free and improvise and whatever and afterwards, I was like, ‘Why is that where I went with this? What an a–hole she is!’ It was, again, one of those situations, it was a huge opportunity for me. I was being interviewed for Vanity Fair. Like, I was on the cover of Vanity Fair, it was a huge big deal for me. And the journalist…just said, ‘You know a lot of women felt it was a little sexist’ so then I felt obligated to answer that and so I tried in my very sort of ungracious way to answer why I felt that it maybe was a little.” She admits she didn’t even call Judd Apatow to apologize: “I probably should’ve [called them]. But what I did was very, I did it publicly instead and kind of tried to say, look, this was not what I meant and this was an incredible experience for me and they were incredibly good to me on this movie, so I did not mean to s–t on them at all. I’ve thought about like, writing a note. I feel embarrassed. I don’t want it to feel insincere on any level.” Why she announced that she was withdrawing her name from Emmy consideration in 2008: “I didn’t feel good about my performance. There was a part of me that thought, because I had won the year before, that I needed juicy, dramatic, emotional material and I just didn’t have that that season… I went in [to speak to Shonda Rhimes] ’cause I was really embarrassed. So I went in to Shonda and said, ‘I’m so sorry. That wasn’t cool. I should not have said that’…I shouldn’t have said anything publicly but at the time, I didn’t think anybody would notice. I didn’t know that journalists would see who submitted and who didn’t. I just quietly didn’t submit and then it became a story and then I felt I was obligated to make my statement and ‘shut up, Katie.’” She owes apologies to a lot of people: “I absolutely owe anyone an apology I unwittingly offended or disrespected. I get it. It was an immature dumbass moment.” She started going to therapy: “I started going because of the scrutiny – and I was not handling it well. I was feeling completely like the biggest piece of s— on the bottom of your shoe. I was really struggling with it and how to not take it all really personally.” She found herself acting timidly on sets: “I was like, ‘This is nonsense. Stop it. Get some help and own your voice.’ “ [From E! News and People] Just my opinion: she’s still full of sh-t. You can hear the bullsh-t and lies and inadvertent truths dripping off these quotes. “…That I needed juicy, dramatic, emotional material and I just didn’t have that that season…” Meaning she still feels like she was fundamentally justified for throwing the writers under the bus. Meaning she still feels like her material was sub-par and it was her duty to say so publicly. And then: “I’ve thought about like, writing a note. I feel embarrassed. I don’t want it to feel insincere on any level.” Why would it be “insincere,” Heigl? Because you would just be apologizing with an eye-roll?
