Kim Kardashian’s crochet skirt, open-toe boots & sheer blouse: tragic or cute?

Here are some photos of Kim Kardashian out and about in LA yesterday. We’re getting to that point in Kim’s post-pregnancy weight loss where she starts to get pap’d regularly in unfortunate outfits. I want to be clear – I think Kim’s body looks fine. I hate when people make fun of her figure, especially since she really, really did not have an easy time with her two pregnancies and she’s been trying to get back on track. But Kim is so g—damn clueless about how to dress her curvy figure. Everything about this ensemble is made of NO. From the crochet skirt (WTF?) to the open-toe dominatrix boots (WTF?) to the boob-cage sheer blouse (UGH), this ensemble is just terrible. I get that she wants to “look cute,” but it’s like she doesn’t realize that there are so many other options for her. Meanwhile, Kim and Khloe were both blogging (on their subscription apps) about sex this week. Kim ended up admitting that she’s a member of the mile-high club and that she’s banged someone (Kanye?) in a movie theater. Just a few hours after her sister blogged about having sex for the very first time, Kim Kardashian decided to talk about love during a Q&A on her website’s livestream. One fan was curious to find out if the reality star is a member of the mile high club. “Am I? Yeah,” Kim shared with her assistant Steph who was reading questions. “But like the private. I don’t think like a public plane…It would have to be an international flight. It was an international, night flight when no one’s like around.” But could that be the craziest place Kim has ever had sex? Not so says the fashion designer. “Like a public movie theatre, yeah.” [From E! News] I would imagine it was Kanye for both, right? Kim and Kanye have always liked going to movies, so what would you do if they were in your movie theater, getting down? I would go and talk to the manager… probably. As for having sex on a private plane… I would imagine that would be fun. And isn’t that the whole point of flying private? Photos courtesy of Fame/Flynet.

Kourtney Kardashian: Fighting With Scott Disick More Fun Than Fighting Boredom

Ah, family.  And television. AND RATINGS! If you’ve been living under a rock for the past three months, then welcome back!  Also, you missed some pretty important things, though none more important than Scott Disick’s re-entry into the Keeping Up With The Kardashians fold! “Scott has been filming for several weeks now,” a source close to the Kardashians told Radar Online. “He is being paid on a per-show basis under the assumption that he is sober. Scott goes through phases where he is a mess and burns it all down, followed by months of playing the role of responsible father. This is just how it is,” the source added. “Kris does not care about what is best for Scott anymore. She is using him for show ratings!” #Family “She knows that people want to watch Scott especially now that he is unstable,” the source went on.  “Also Kourtney gets bored when she’s not fighting with Scott and all of their drama did really well for the show last season.” Is it? A few months ago, GQ did a feature on celebrity club appearances, and accompanied Scott Disick to 1OAK in Las Vegas. One club goer was celebrating her 21st birthday at the club, and when asked why she wanted to spend it with Disick, she explained that he “is a dick, but he’s funny.” And there you have it. LeAnn Rimes called a ‘has-been’ with a ‘Kardasian attitude’ by country radio host

Holding each other up this morning. Grateful to have him with me. #airportlife #earlymorning #tour #lrlive2016 #undertheinfluence #texas #blondie #hubbylove #happytuesday #musician A photo posted by LeAnn Rimes Cibrian (@leannrimes) on Apr 5, 2016 at 8:15am PDT As you can see from this Instagram and her excessive use of hashtags, LeAnn Rimes was recently in Texas for her “tour.” Yes, LeAnn still “tours,” even though her fanbase has dwindled down to barely nothing. I would love to see the cost-benefit analysis of LeAnn’s tours, because I suspect that any money she makes from touring and live performances at this point is negligible. But she was in Texas late last week and she did a show at Billy Bob’s Texas, “the world’s largest honky tonk.” A local songwriter/country musician/radio personality named Bill Mack came out to wish her well. Billy Mack knows country music. He’s seen country artists come and go. And he was not impressed with LeAnn. Incidentally, Mack wrote “Blue,” LeAnn’s biggest single. First, Mack tweeted this: So funny @leannrimes had the lowest attendance @BillyBobsTexas and still acts like a Diva. What a shame. Go back to LA.#Sellout #Hasbeen — Billy Mack (@BillyMackRadio) April 9, 2016 Major OUCH, right? Totally. But then Billy Mack went one step further and explained his tweet in a Facebook post that’s getting a lot of attention: Almost comical, My dad and I go to Billy Bob’s Texas (Which is a whole other story) to see a LeAnn Rimes and wish her the best (which by the way the lowest attendance I’ve seen there in a long time) No need to wonder why she is a has been in this industry. Her lack of humility, to her fans, my dad, Curb Records, or anyone else who has ever been in her corner in the early part of her career is hard, but a lil cute to watch. Sometimes it’s best to stay in LA. Don’t crawl back to Texas with a Kardashian attitude, expecting a Texas size applause. I wish her the best, but you can’t fool the fans. I speak only for me, and nobody else on this matter. [From Billy Mack’s Facebook] Just how rude was LeAnn Rimes to this guy’s dad, for the love of God? I feel like this was more than just average LeAnn obliviousness. This seems like she went out of her way to be a total diva and a—hole. Anyway, just goes to show you – LeAnn is a legend in her own mind, even if her reality doesn’t back it up. Photos courtesy of Fame/Flynet and Instagram.

Charlize Theron in McQueen at the MTV Movie Awards: regal or boring?

Here are some photos of Charlize Theron and Jessica Chastain at this weekend’s MTV Movie Awards. Charlize was nominated for some stuff for Mad Max: Fury Road, but I suspect she came to the show mostly because she and Jessica are shilling for The Huntsman: Winter’s War. Charlize wore this Alexander McQueen dress which… it’s okay. Of all the designers doing sheer fabric with applique designs, I think the house of McQueen does it well. My complaint is that it looks like they were trying too many different styling tricks in one dress. From the front, I thought Charlize was doing a very daring high ponytail with a small fishtail braid, but that’s not what’s happening. She did an intricate mini-bun situation which… I sort of like? I like that she tried something new and that she didn’t get five pounds of weave, you know? That being said, it looks like her mini-buns are pulled too tight. As for Chastain… I think she looks lovely. I love that Jessica and Charlize both wore black and they’re giving me Dark Mistress Witch-Queen vibes, which works for their film. Jessica’s gown is Givenchy, and this is the first Givenchy dress I’ve liked in a while. My only complaint is that Jessica’s girls look like they’re suffocating. Photos courtesy of WENN.

Olivia Wilde on ‘Vinyl’ fashion: ‘People in the ’70s apparently didn’t have hips’

The last time we talked about Olivia Wilde she was discussing the merkin (pubic wig) which she has to wear for nude scenes on her HBO show, Vinyl, set in the 1970s. I was surprised at how many of you had strong feelings about that issue, particularly Olivia’s embarrassment at having a hirsute nether region, even temporarily. I don’t think she was saying that hair down there is hideous, just that she prefers more grooming in that area. To each their own. Some people like their hair long, some like it short. Now Olivia is discussing the fashion on Vinyl, specifically the real vintage clothing they wear. She’s representing H&M’s conscious collection, so that’s part of the reason she’s talking about this issue as well. “I’ll walk around with the wardrobe assistant saying, ‘I want that one, I want that one.’ I really have been so inspired by all the wardrobe across the board,” Wilde told PeopleStyle at the H&M Conscious Exclusive 2016 Collection event in N.Y.C., adding that not all looks work on her: “I can’t fit into any of the pants because people in the ’70s apparently just didn’t have hips. I guess that’s all the hormones in our food, but I don’t understand it. You pick up the jeans and they’re straight — there’s no butt and there’s no hips. They’re for a straight body.” The actress added that there’s also a 2016 pants trend she has trouble pulling off: Boyfriend jeans. “I try to wear the trend, but it always looks terrible, because I have really short legs,” she shared. “Almost everything we wear on the show is real vintage. And that’s a lot of effort on the part of our designer and on the part of the team,” she shared. “We have a whole kind of workshop to take real vintage items and fix them — because when you buy vintage you sometimes have to do a little bit of tailoring and cleaning. We should just be buying things that already exist as oppose to trying to mass produce everything new. Plus, it’s fun to buy things that have a story so that you can say this is a vintage Halston, a piece that has been around.” Wilde has also been going to vintage shops since she was 12, so she’s now a pro at repairing old clothes. “Now I know what to look for and know what to do when I see something that’s messed up. You can buy it, take it to a seamstress and it’s not that expensive fix it, clean it,” she shared. “It’s much cooler to have something that has history than to just buy something new.” Her passion for recycling old clothes makes her the perfect person to partner with H&M on its latest Conscious collection, hitting stores Thursday. Wilde starred in the campaign last year, and this year she’s continuing to spread the brand’s message of eco-friendly fashion. “We think that we’re going to sacrifice style in order to be sustainable, and that’s not true as this collection proves,” Wilde said. “That’s what I love about what H&M’s done this year and last year. They are really good at showing that you can wear a piece that doesn’t necessarily scream sustainability, but just happens to be taking advantage of this new innovation that they’re investing in. I think they’re very smart about the whole process and pioneers within this movement, which I didn’t necessarily know before. I think I connected H&M with my idea of what fast fashion meant to the world. I didn’t realize how much work they were putting in to changing that.” [From People] While it’s true that people in the 70s were smaller than they are now, I think that saying that they didn’t have hips is like saying women in the 50s had pointy boobs. Straight legs were just the style. Plus when you’re talking about vintage fashion, the stuff that’s left is whatever people haven’t bought yet so of course it’s the outlier sizes. I haven’t watched this show yet but I have to say that I love the vintage fashion on The Americans especially. It’s set in the early 80s and their coat p0rn is amazing. I recently read a book by a costume designer for television called How to Get Dressed. The author, Alison Freer, says that fit is key to looking polished, not following trends. She emphasizes tailoring, which is exactly what Wilde is saying here about shopping second hand. You can really see the work that goes into the clothing on television and that book gave me a newfound appreciation for thrift shopping. It must be a blast to get to dressed up in period fashion for your job. As long as it’s not a merkin. Embed from Getty Images photos credit: WENN.com, FameFlynet, Getty and Pacific Coast News

Melissa McCarthy Has a Message for Body Shamers

Melissa McCarthy recently showed off a 50-pound weight loss, but truth be told, she doesn’t really want to talk about it. “If that is the most interesting thing about me, I need to go have a lavender farm in Minnesota and give this up,” she told Refinery29. “There are so many more intriguing things about women than their butt or their this or their that. It can’t be the first question every time, or a question at all.” Regrettably, women today are still being scrutinized for their weight, and today, the actress took to Instagram to vent her frustration. She posted an image of a sign stuck to a mirror that reads, “WARNING: Reflections in this mirror may be distorted by socially constructed ideas of ‘beauty.'” Well said.  In the caption, she included her own poignant message: “We have to stop categorizing and judging women based on their bodies. We are teaching young girls to strive for unattainable perfection instead of feeling healthy and happy in their own skin. ‘Imagine we are linked not ranked.’ Gloria Steinem” Looks like she’s ready to start a conversation, or more likely, end the one that’s been going on for far too long.  The star is tired of women being valued solely for their bodies when they have so much more to offer. “We’re always being ranked and when we come together, you know, women are amazing together,” she said in a recent interview. “Women are friends. Women are not really competing with each other. I think everyone wants to make it seem that way with who wore it better, whose butt is better, whose glasses are crazier. I’ve never had any of those conversations in my life.” For the record, we are fans of everything Melissa has to offer, whether she’s cracking us up in film and TV, designing a fashion line or demonstrating her newfound skill: straight up killing it in a lip sync battle. Would we feel differently about the monarchy if Prince Harry was the heir?

Here are some photos of Dirty Ginger Snap Prince Harry unveiling the UK Invictus Team in London on Wednesday. These photos made me sigh deeply and think about his mother. I actually thought, “His mother would be so proud of him in this moment.” To turn his military career into something so positive for veterans… it’s a unique and wonderful thing. At this event, Harry spent a lot of time posing with veterans (and a dog!) – go here to read more. The Invictus Games are in May, and Harry still has more to do to promote the games and work with some of the commonwealth teams. It’s just been announced that he will be traveling to Toronto on May 2 to launch the countdown to the games and meet the Canadian Invictus team. While Harry is in Florida next month, he’ll also be playing a polo match for charity, and he’s bringing his favorite horse. With all of this positivity about Harry (HONKS!), would it be weird if we also discussed the recent comments by Dr Anna Whitelock? She’s a historian – a royal-history historian – and she gave an interview a few days ago about how the British monarchy will likely end in our lifetimes. Whitelock predicted that after the Queen has passed, there will be a larger conversation about ending the monarchy, especially when Charles takes the throne. Whitelock said, in part: “All of those questions about ‘What the hell do we want this kind of unelected family (for)? What does that represent in Britain today?’, all these profound questions have been held in check because of the Queen. I think there’ll be a discussion and a debate in a way that there hasn’t before [after the Queen dies]. As the older generation who are generally more wedded to the monarchy die out, the question of the future of the monarchy will become even more pressing, and then potentially more critical voices will come to the fore. I would say by 2030 there will be definite louder clamours for the eradication of the monarchy. I can’t say that there won’t be a monarchy. I would definitely say that the monarchy – its purpose, what it’s about, will be questioned and challenged in a way that it hasn’t been before. I don’t think it’s out of the question that the monarchy would be potentially be on its last legs.” [From The Express] I do wonder what will happen after the Queen passes. I’ve stopped worrying about what Charles would be like as a king, just because he’s a workhorse and I believe he genuinely cares about public service. Charles has always been prepared to step up to whatever challenges would face him. But yes, when the queen passes and Charles becomes king, there will be these conversations and it will mostly be about what comes after Charles, whose reign will likely be brief. Because people are actually pretty concerned about Workshy Will. If Harry was the heir? If Harry was going to be the Prince of Wales? I think it would be a different story altogether.
