Lea Michele: “I get a lot of compliments on my legs, which is funny for a short girl”

leabathingsuit-769x1024

On why the scale doesn’t determine her self-worth:

“As I get older, my body is always changing. Right now I have so much energy, my skin looks good, and my butt is higher than it’s ever been. I’ve been skinnier and I’ve been a little bit bigger, and I’m never hard on myself one way or the other. The fact that I’m active, eating well, and taking care of myself is all that matters—not a number.”

On why she loves her shape:

“I love my shape because it’s unique to me. I’m 5’2”, and I get a lot of compliments on my legs, which is funny for a short girl. But they’re one of my favorite things about my body.”

On learning to listen to her body:

“If I have one of those days when I don’t want to work out, I ask myself why. I’ve learned how to listen to my body and know what I need in that moment. And I’m grateful for that. It took me a very long time to get to this place. Now I can tell when my body is saying to take a break from working out, or when it’s saying, No, you’re being a little lazy, so that I can push myself to get going.”

On what she eats:

“I was vegan for a while, I was vegetarian for 10 years, and now I’ve incorporated meat back into my diet. I eat as healthy as possible because I know food fuels me. I usually start my day with avocado toast or a green smoothie. I love a big salad for lunch; I’m always concocting recipes like kale Caesar or spinach artichoke salad. For dinner I’m flexible. If I’m going out and I want a bowl of pasta, I’ll eat it. I’m not hard on myself.”

Kate Upton: “It was considered a great thing to have a curvy body to fill out a bathing suit”

upton-cover

On whether she always wanted to model:

I knew nothing about fashion growing up, because in Florida you just wear bikinis and flip-flops. But kids can be cruel, and they used to make fun of me for having long legs and bushy eyebrows. My mom would flip through magazines and say, “Look, all these models have that too.” So I decided I wanted to be a model.

On whether she was ever told to lose weight:

All. The. Time. At first I tried to diet to become their image, but eventually I realized that it wasn’t realistic—that this is just the shape of my body. So I had to block them out. I think that the people who are the loudest about wanting to change you are the people with the least amount of vision and creativity.

On people saying she doesn’t have the right look:

Where I grew up, it was considered a great thing to have a curvy body to fill out a bathing suit. For that to be a negative was so confusing to me. And besides, when I started working, I was booked constantly, mostly for catalog work. So when people were saying, “Oh, she doesn’t have the right look for a model,” I thought, Then why am I working every single day? There are so many different directions you can take in the modeling industry, so many ways to be successful.

Taylor Swift took Tom Hiddleston for a ride on her fancy private plane, huh

tiddles

At long last, my Tiddles high is finally wearing off. I was positively giddy for 24 hours because I was just excited about the TIDDLES. Glorious Tiddles. But now it’s time for the come-down. After enjoying some Rhode Island Tiddlesbanging, Tom Hiddleston and Taylor Swift are off! They flew out of Rhode Island on her private plane yesterday, and the Daily Mail and TMZ had the photos (I’m including them below). While this is not the first time Lord Dragonfly has flown on a private plane, I would imagine it’s the first time he’s flown on a girlfriend’s private plane.

So what do we know? We know that Tom and Taylor are still together. He wasn’t scared off by the immediate craziness that came with their staged beach canoodle. We know that Taylor is treating Tom like he’s fancy, complete with trips to her huge Rhode Island mansion for makeout sessions and then maybe some under-the-sweater action on her private plane. Is Tom in it to win it? Unknown. But the tabloids are having a great time trying to figure it out! Here are some assorted stories:

Calvin Harris is still pissy. E! News had a new story about Calvin yesterday afternoon in which sources say Calvin was the one who had “checked out” of the relationship for a while and “Their rhythm as a couple was just off. They beated to a different beat. Taylor and Adam have been checked out for sometime now.” But how does Calvin feel about the Tiddlesbanging? “Adam is over Taylor in every way shape and form. He knew she was talking to someone towards the end of their relationship.” Uh-huh.

Taylor did the dumping! Page Six is still insisting that Swift dumped Calvin Harris, but now they say she dumped him for Tom, and she gave Calvin “a bulls–t excuse about her career. He was ring shopping.”

Taylor and Tom’s Met Gala dance. The Sun brought in a body-language expert to analyze Tom and Taylor’s awkward, flailing dancing at the Met Gala. The expert determined that they were definitely showing their interest for each other back then

Tom pounced right away. Sources tell Reveal Mag that as soon as Tom found out that Taylor and Calvin were over, he called her that day AND had flowers delivered to her. Considering they were in the same city (LA) when the break-up announcement was made, wouldn’t it have been easier for him to just stop by her house?

Tom’s suede boots. For the Rhode Island staged photo op, Tom wore $425 suede Aquatalia Ace boots. Who wears suede boots to the beach?

On getting back in shape after giving birth to twins in December 2014:

Almost there! It’s been difficult but so rewarding. I feel strong. All it takes is determination! Mommies we can all do it, d*mn it!!!

Zoe previously talked about the impact of pregnancy on her body:

“Your body changes dramatically, inside and out. You grow in places you never knew you could, and you are tired beyond belief. In some cases more than others, your body experiences a kind of trauma through childbirth that is difficult to explain unless you’ve had that experience. My case was like that, everything from my thyroid to my platelets crashed. Thank God, we are all doing great now, but my body was really bent out of shape after the boys were born. Bouncing back feels impossible, but I know it is important as a woman, and now a mommy, to not give up. I am determined to get my energy back and find balance for my body before these little guys start walking, and before I go back to work…my clock is ticking!”

Kate Winslet: “We’re so lucky we’re curvy”

FFN_f_51709520

On body image:

“When I grew up, I never heard positive reinforcement about body image from any female in my life. I only heard negatives. That’s very damaging, because then you’re programmed as a young woman to immediately scrutinize yourself and how you look.”

On how she’s raising her 14-year-old daughter Mia:

“I stand in front of the mirror and say to Mia, ‘We are so lucky we have a shape. We’re so lucky we’re curvy. We’re so lucky we’ve got good bums.’ And she’ll say, ‘Mommy, I know, thank God.’”

Size 14 Model Denise Bidot: “Curvy women shouldn’t apologize for anything”

Undddtitled-2

Size 14 model Denise Bidot and Swimsuitsforall teamed up for body positive campaign that encourages women to get their bodies out to the beach no matter what shape or size. Here’s what Denise says:

There’s no wrong way to be a woman. It’s time to stop apologizing. I want women to feel confident and sexy by knowing that there’s nothing wrong with being yourself. Forget all the rules! I love everything about my body. Every bit of it … the cellulite, the stretch marks, everything that I thought at one point was an imperfection, I now realize is everything that makes me unique… curvy women shouldn’t apologize for anything. They should wear a swimsuit that makes them feel comfortable. It’s all about the confidence. They shouldn’t worry about anything.
