Duchess Kate had a ‘Marilyn Moment’ in Wickstead at the war memorial

Embed from Getty Images I told you guys that this week was going to be full-time Celebwiglet, and here we are. The time difference is affecting when and how we get photos of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s royal tour of India and Bhutan, but these are photos from their second day in India. They wore the same thing as they quickly moved through several events, and while Will and Kate were criticized for bringing too many activities to them (as opposed to going out in the city), I have to say, they are getting out of their luxury-hotel-comfort-zone. For the day-activities, Kate chose to theme-dress in what seems like an almost militaristic-inspired Emilia Wickstead dress with a full skirt. While I think this could have been pretty, the things that bug me the most are the breast pockets. I’ve convinced myself that they’re not even real pockets, they were just added to give a certain look to the dress, and the design bugs me because… well, those faux-pockets just look like breast flaps. Oh, and the dress costs £1,700. Which is sort of ridiculous. As everyone predicted, Kate loathes adding weights to her hems, so of course her full, un-weighted skirt blew up several times during the day. It was particularly inappropriate considering they were making a somber visit to lay a wreath at the India Gate memorial to pay their respects to the 70,000 Indian soldiers who died in WWI. Cool war memorial, would you like to see my duchess-biscuit? You can see those photos here. Oh, and Kate also refused to eat some Indian food that William had made (food he tried himself). Why didn’t people clap for Mad Max costume designer Jenny Beavan?

Embed from Getty Images Jenny Beavan took the home the Oscar for Best Costume Design for Mad Max: Fury Road last Sunday. As soon as she hit the stage, my girlfriend in New York shot out a group email saying, “How bad@ss is it the Best Costume Designer is wearing a leather jacket?” We all sent back cyber fist bumps. Apparently, the glitterati of Hollywood did not share our enthusiasm. As Jenny walked victorious to the stage, a number of high ranking entertainment industry folks either looked dismayed or withheld applause. The soon-to-be Best Director Alejandro Iñárritu even folded his arms across his chest. The question is, were his actions sour grapes that his designer for the The Revenant lost or did all the haut monde feel Jenny was too casual for their fancy dress party: What gives? Some of Hollywood’s biggest talents refused to clap for Mad Max: Fury Road costume designer Jenny Beavan on Sunday, February 28, as she walked up to the Dolby Theatre stage to accept her Academy Award — and the reason why they didn’t applaud her is even worse. Beavan broke away from the Oscars’ traditional dress code at the 88th awards ceremony, proudly grinning and walking down the aisle in a leather jacket (complete with a studded skull on the back) and a striped scarf. As she walked by, several audience members glowered and gave her judgmental looks. Four-time-Oscar-winning director Alejandro Iñárritu crossed his arms and glared, while Spotlight director Tom McCarthy touched his face with a confused expression. Other members of the audience were seen giggling and smiling before raising their hands to belatedly clap for the recipient. [From Us Weekly] This jacket is looking to take down Awards Season. This is the same jacket, minus the bedazzled Skull of Awesome, Jenny wore to the BAFTAs when Stephen Fry joked, “Only one of the great cinematic costume designers would come to an awards ceremony dressed as a bag lady,” after she’d won for Max. Twitter attacked him and he quit Twitter saying, “Will all you sanctimonious f****** f*** the f*** off Jenny Beavan is a friend and joshing is legitimate. Christ I want to leave the planet.” After the BAFTAs, Jenny said she wasn’t comfortable in a gown and her bad back prohibited heels. Then she quipped, “… This was a homage to Mad Max and I obviously didn’t get it quite right at the Baftas, the scarf was meant to be an oil rag.” The best news? The jacket is not only faux-leather but currently on sale at Marks and Spencer for about $60. I am not saying Oscar fashion isn’t important; I salivate over the gowns and rush to read the commentary on this website as quickly as you do. But Jenny wasn’t asked to present, she wasn’t loaned a gown or even interviewed on the red carpet; she had the luxury to wear something more comfortable. Fellow nominee Sandy Powell made a statement with a David Bowie inspired suit and all that got her was Juliana Ranic and Kris Jenner misidentifying her as Tilda Swinton. Designer Jacqueline Durran wore a long denim tied-front jacket to accept her Oscar in 2013 and in 1995 Lizzy Gardiner infamously wore a dress made of American Express Gold cards. Sure Jenny could have paired her jacket with silk palazzos but I stick with my girlfriend’s original assessment – it was bad@ss. The anti-Beyonce protest in NYC turned into a Black Lives Matter demonstration

A photo posted by Beyoncé (@beyonce) on Feb 7, 2016 at 5:46pm PST You know what’s amazing? People are still SO MAD about Beyonce. They’re mad because Beyonce celebrated her blackness in the “Formation” video. They’re mad that she had the audacity to feature the phrase “stop killing us” in the video. They’re mad because something something black people and police. And they’re especially mad that Beyonce slayed at the Super Bowl and that she and her militant dancers threw up a Black Power salute during their performance. My reaction to all of that outrage has been “…and?” Why wouldn’t Bey celebrate her blackness? Why wouldn’t she have something to say about cops killing people of color? Why would her militancy – or her use of militant imagery – offend people so damn much? So, all of the sad anti-Beyonce people decided to throw an anti-Beyonce protest in New York yesterday. And this is what happened: Protest against @Beyonce outside NFL HQ turns out to be no show #1010wins pic.twitter.com/dY6O2dD6aY — glenn schuck (@glennschuck) February 16, 2016 And then to make matters even more amazing, a bunch of pro-Beyonce people came out, and they joined up with some Black Lives Matter organizers, and the whole thing turned into a pro-Beyonce, pro-BLM, anti-police-violence demonstration. AMAZING. People got in formation to counter-protest the #boycottBeyonce protest Tuesday morning https://t.co/BUT4PLcMG9 pic.twitter.com/KSDV0XqHTn — BuzzFeed News (@BuzzFeedNews) February 17, 2016 Still, all of that isn’t stopping wingnuts from blaming Beyonce for everything involving police and guns, etc. This story out of Tennessee is pretty crazy/stupid. Here are some photos of Beyonce and Jay-Z going out to dinner last night in LA. Photos courtesy of Fame/Flynet, Instagram.

Star: Jennifer Lawrence feels ‘threatened’ by Brie Larson’s awards success

There’s a long history with tabloids setting up Jennifer Lawrence to be some kind of massive Mean Girl, looking to take down her actress contemporaries with a single Doritos fart. Maybe I’m a J-Law Apologist, but I don’t think she’s that girl. Is she totally capable of being mean, judgy and rude? Of course she is. But I don’t think she operates like everything is zero-sum gain, like she can be the only successful woman in Hollywood because there can only be ONE. I think back to when J-Law was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for American Hustle, and she was up against Lupita Nyong’o. Just my opinion, but it always seemed like Jennifer actively did NOT want to win that year, and she really wanted Lupita to have her moment to shine. That’s what I was thinking about when I read this Star Magazine story about how J-Law is Mean Girling Brie Larson. Brie and Jennifer are both nominated for Best Actress this year, and most people believe Brie is the major frontrunner for the award. Again, I suspect that J-Law is fine with that. And to hear Brie tell it, they know each other and they’re friendly. Brie said as much in her recent THR profile, saying: “I met Jen seven years ago at a photo shoot. We bonded over the craft service table; we were the only ones eating the doughnuts.” Still, Star’s source says J-Law is trying to quietly destroy Brie! Jennifer Lawrence isn’t happy about having to share the It Girl limelight with critical darling Brie Larson. “Jen’s starting to feel the heat,” says a source close to Brie. “She’s made it clear to friends that she does not want Brie in her crew – she thinks Brie is her biggest competition and she’s probably right.” Although her reps deny a rift, sources say Jennifer is so threatened that she even ordered BFF Amy Schumer to avoid Brie at the Golden Globes, but her Mean Girl plan backfired. “Brie was in Amy’s movie ‘Trainwreck’ so they get along well. But Amy spent most of the night trying to keep Brie away from Jen!” And while Jen knows she can’t be Hollywood’s favorite forever, she refuses to pass the baton gracfully. “She’s be smarter to make Brie a friend, not an enemy,” says the source. [From Star Magazine, print edition] OK Magazine had a similar story about Brie and Jennifer’s “feud,” with sources claiming that “Jen just didn’t hit it off with Brie” and “Brie was a little uptight for her liking and that she couldn’t hang.” And for what it’s worth, Gossip Cop spoke to an unnamed source on Team J-Law and the source claimed that the alleged rift is bulls—t. Sure. Do I believe that Brie and Jennifer are not BFFs? Sure. Do I believe that J-Law is, like, actively trying to shun Brie? Of course not. Photos courtesy of WENN, Fame/Flynet.

Allison Williams got bangs from Aniston’s hairdresser: pretty or fug?

It's 3:20 am and @mrchrismcmillan just banged me ‼️ ??✂️ #PastMyBedtime A photo posted by Allison Williams (@aw) on Jan 28, 2016 at 12:24am PST Girls star Allison Williams debuted a new hairdo after a late night session with celebrity hairdresser Chris McMillan. The 27-year-old actress kept her locks long but did what many of us have impulsively done when we “wanted a change” and got bangs. She posted the results of her meeting with the stylist to the stars (his other clients include Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox and Miley Cyrus) on her Instagram page with the caption, “It’s 3:20 am and @mrchrismcmillan just banged me ‼️ #PastMyBedtime.” She later posted a photo with Chris, who got his inspiration fot Allison’s new look from Jane Birkin, the English actress and singer who not only was the muse to legendary French singer Serge Gainsbourg but also served as the inspiration for the coveted Hermès Birkin bag. The caption for the picture reads, “Step 1: cut bangs on nervous girl who wants them for a character she’s about to play. Step 2: take 1000 mediocre selfies and 1 or 2 good ones; Step 3: assess selfie mediocrity (pictured here). @mrchrismcmillan.” Oh, it’s for a role. That’s good, I guess. Step 1: cut bangs on nervous girl who wants them for a character she's about to play; Step 2: take 1000 mediocre selfies and 1 or 2 good ones; Step 3: assess selfie mediocrity (pictured here). @mrchrismcmillan A photo posted by Allison Williams (@aw) on Jan 28, 2016 at 11:15am PST Allison also used her Instagram account to diffuse the rumor that her husband, College Humor co-founder Ricky Van Veen, proposed to her during an episode of The Bachelor. She posted a screenshot of Ricky’s tweet, which read, “Didn’t propose at a Bachelor viewing. Just us at a house where we used to watch. Love the show, but not *that* much.” Allison added the caption “Ha, yes. What he said. We care way too much about The Bach to disrupt the show by getting engaged during it. #AsIf” I don’t know what I think about a guy who watches The Bachelor. I’m sure Ricky’s a great guy, but ugh. My ex-husband and I used to watch Rock of Love religiously, but I don’t think that’s the same thing. Ha, yes. What he said. We care way too much about The Bach to disrupt the show by getting engaged during it. #AsIf A photo posted by Allison Williams (@aw) on Jan 26, 2016 at 2:15pm PST As for the new haircut, girl, no. Sure, bangs are cute for a while, but once you get sick of them, you’re screwed for months while waiting for them to grow out. Trust me, I’m going through “bang regret” right now. I’m a big advocate of the clip-on bangs to change up your look without making a commitment. If only one of her friends showed her this video before she headed to the stylist. But, like they always say, they’ll grow back…and at least it’s better than the hairdo she sported in Peter Pan. Photo Credit: Instagram/Allison Williams, WENN.com
