People: Ben Affleck wants Jennifer Garner back, but she’s not ready

We just saw photos and video of Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck with their kids in Paris, near where Ben is filming (and now executive producing) Justice League. They’re now in London I believe. Instead of leaving us to draw our own conclusions about the state of their relationship and whether they’re back together or just trying to show a united front for their kids, Jen’s pr team is spelling it out: he wants her back and she’s supposedly reticent. Yeah right. Nearly a year after Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner announced their split, the two have continued to maintain a close relationship: living together, going on weekend outings with their kids and even vacationing as a family – including a trip to Paris last week. Is a reconciliation in their future? “Ben wants Jen back,” a source close to Garner tells PEOPLE in this week’s issue, with a second source adding, “Ben wants to get back together. He wants her back.” But while the two have yet to file for divorce and have remained friendly, the source close to Garner says they haven’t rekindled their romance. “Jen is not ready to take Ben back,” says the source. “Ben has never been good alone and isn’t now either. But he is constantly working on himself. He has made big changes.” [From People] This story is from Garner, obviously, and it’s even sourced to her. She’s claiming that he’s changed and she’s preparing to announce that they’re back together. It’s all very predictable, as is her status as a doormat. Maybe that’s unfair to her, a lot of women take their husbands back after various Beckys, but Ben cheated with their damn nanny! Even if they were separated at the time, that’s the lowest. I do think the fame-hungry nanny forced Garner’s hand by going public and that Garner’s type A personality made her try to control the narrative through every up and down in their relationship. That’s still playing out, and it seems she hasn’t realized when to just keep things to herself. We didn’t need to know this. She could have just taken him back and then given an interview sometime in the fall confirming it. By that time they’ll probably be separated again anyway. Wait for more stories about where Ben is living, how they’re doing and what their kids think about it. Photos credit: FameFlynet and Pacific Coast News

Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop ‘sex toy guide’ is exactly what you would expect

Gwyneth Paltrow has been talking about sex a lot lately. Maybe it’s part of her new branding scheme: The Sexual, Sensual Goop In Her 40s. Maybe it’s a late reaction to her divorce. Maybe Brad Falchuk is giving it to her properly. Or maybe it’s a combination of all of the above. In any case, Gwyneth is not content to merely say (odd) words about sex in interviews. This week’s Goop-letter is the first-ever “Sex Issue.” Sex, Goop Style. The Low-Down on Goop’s Downtown. Becky with the Bad Straw Hair has sex. And she wants you to know about it. You can see the whole Goop site here. The Sex Issue features an article about an “erotic theater” in LA, because rich people can’t just watch p0rn in the comfort of their own homes anymore. There’s an article about “hormone free” technology to improving your sex life. There’s a Goopy article about whether or not your lube is toxic, and whether you should make your own lube at home. There’s an informative and interesting piece about sexual trauma and psychological scarring, and how that affects one’s sex life. But the piece that is getting the most attention is the Goop Sex Toy Guide. Because it wouldn’t be Goop if Gwyneth wasn’t recommending that you spend thousands of dollars on seasonal, artisanal vibrators. I’ll give Goop some credit – there are some affordable recommendations on her list, like a $69 feather toy, Ben Wa balls that only cost $25 and $10 “cleaning spray,” because nothing says romance like Windexing your beav. But because she’s Gwyneth, she has to remind you that only 24-carat gold touches her ‘gina: she is literally recommending a $15,000 24-carat gold dildo. There’s also a $535 whip, a $400 nipple-clamp necklace, and a $156 G-spot App. Yes, there’s an app for that. If you’re a peasant and can’t afford a gold dildo. Tom Hiddleston: Taylor Swift asked me to dance to The Weeknd at the Met Gala

Here are some photos of Tom Hiddleston outside of BBC Radio 2 today, Friday. I don’t know why he was carrying his guitar, but God bless. He’s that guy, maybe. The one who likes to bring his guitar everywhere just to serenade the ladies. At Radio 2, Tom ran into the Duchess of Cornwall and he put his arm around her while they were posing for photos – that’s a breach of protocol, but Camilla didn’t mind. Tom arrived back in London a few days ago, judging from his Twitter, and he’s really happy to be back after four months of non-stop travel. So, let’s take a moment and honor what is the end of Tom Hiddleston’s crazy American tour. He was in the US for the better part of two months, promoting back-to-back film and TV projects, a tour which culminated with a slew of appearances just in the past week, from his trip to the White House Correspondents’ Dinner to his first-ever appearance at the Met Gala and the release of his charming Esquire UK cover interview too. Before he left America, Tom did chat with the Press Association about how he ended up dancing the night away with Taylor Swift at the Met Gala. The videos of Taylor and Tom’s dancing went viral following the gala, and everyone wants to know how it came about. Tom explained: “I love dancing, who doesn’t?” Hiddleston told the Press Association in a recent interview. “It’s a weird one (that it went viral). I haven’t actually danced for a long time, but I happened to be dancing at the Met Gala, because it was a party. I was on a table with Taylor Swift and The Weeknd was playing and she said, ‘The thing about these parties is nobody gets up to dance,’” he continued. “She, as a musician, was like, ‘We’ve got to dance for The Weeknd!’ so we got up and danced.” [From ET] So, Taylor was the one whispering, “I wish someone would dance…” and Tom, ever the gentleman, was like, “Sure, let’s do it!” And he threw himself into with abandon. Bless. Tom’s appearance on Graham Norton will also be going down this weekend, and the episode has already been taped. According to the advanced press, Graham asks Tom about James Bond and more stuff about The Night Manager. Alden Enrenreich, 26, cast as the ‘young Han Solo’: great choice or meh?

Last year, we learned that a huge slate of Star Wars-themed sequels, prequels and spin-offs were in the pipeline at Disney. One of the biggest projects was a combo prequel/spinoff, featuring the story of a pre-New Hope Han Solo. This is not going to be a straight up origin story with Han Solo’s childhood! The focus was always going to be on Han Solo as a 20-something dude, what he was up to before he met Luke Skywalker. The casting call went far and wide, and eventually Disney had the list culled to a who’s who of “really?” The shortlist featured names like Miles Teller, Scott Eastwood, Alden Ehrenreich, Logan Lerman, Emory Cohen and Ansel Elgort. The list was culled even further back in March, and now industry sources say that Disney has finally found their Young Solo: 26-year-old Alden Ehrenreich. After thousands of actors were considered to portray a younger Han Solo for a “Star Wars” spinoff, Alden Ehrenreich has landed the coveted role. Hollywood sources tell us Ehrenreich has signed on to play the iconic role, made famous by Harrison Ford, in the new movie, slated for 2018, which will focus on Solo before he joined the Rebel Alliance. One insider told us of Ehrenreich, 26, who most recently appeared in “Hail, Caesar!”: “Alden really impressed Disney and Lucasfilm execs with his screen tests. The deal is basically done.” Relatively little-known Ehrenreich — who’s also the lead in Warren Beatty’s upcoming, untitled Howard Hughes project with Fox — beat out candidates including “Divergent” stars Miles Teller and Ansel Elgort, Scott Eastwood, “Kingsman” and “Eddie the Eagle” star Taron Egerton, and “Sing Street” star Jack Reynor. The casting of the Han Solo character has been so shrouded in secrecy it was named “Project Red Cup,” in reference to the ubiquitous red plastic Solo cups. The film won’t start shooting until January, but reports are that the early casting is because the new Solo will have a cameo in “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” which is now shooting. That film is said to be set between “Episode III” and “Episode IV.” Reps for Ehrenreich didn’t get back to us. [From Page Six] I thought Rogue One was already in the can, but maybe not if they’re giving themselves time to film a quickie cameo with the new Solo. As for this choice… I don’t hate it. Alden is probably one of the best choices from the shortlist they had. He’s attractive (very much so), boyish, but with a slight bad-boy vibe that is desperately needed for Han Solo. I wanted to hear his voice, so I looked up some interviews and… this kid is CUTE. He has a really sexy smile. Nice voice too. Photos courtesy of WENN.

Elizabeth Olsen won’t buy a house in LA because the paparazzi are ‘crippling’

Elizabeth Olsen covers the latest issue of Elle Canada. I’m not loving the editorial, but that’s mostly because I don’t think Olsen was well-served by the magazine’s stylists. In my opinion, she looks better in very clean styles and more natural, barely-there makeup. Elle Canada overloaded her with boho clothes and pink lipstick. As for the interview, she comes across a bit better in this piece than she did in her recent Times Style magazine piece. But there’s still something that bugs me: it’s a feeling of “are you really as famous as you think you are?” The way she complains about the paparazzi and the lengths she goes to in maintaining her “privacy,” you’d think she was Angelina Jolie or, hell, Blake Lively. It just doesn’t seem to match up to Olsen’s actual level of fame. Although, to be fair to her, she’s been dealing with crazy Tom Hiddleston-fans for more than a year, so maybe she does need to be careful. You can read the full interview here. Some highlights: She wants to be low-key: “A lot of the time in my life, I try not to take up space—I just want to disappear into a wall. And then eventually, when I’m around people I feel confident with, I’ll take up more space.” Moving between Marvel films & indies: “The only thing I care about is if the team is great, the script is good and the character is someone I can connect to in my gut. After that, it’s just a fun f–king job. I don’t have any regrets—I was just so happy to be working—but I was forcing myself not to give power to ‘the system.’ But the system does have power, and I’ve learned how to use it. It’s smarter than to ignore it.” She doesn’t want a social media presence: “I just have an old-school mindset. Also, girls I look up to, like Jennifer Lawrence, Rooney Mara and Alicia Vikander, don’t have it, and it hasn’t affected their careers remotely. I’d rather live as private a life as I can. I’m not trying to be a mysterious person, but I’d rather be seen as an actor from job to job. I’ve never lived my life trying to be an influencer; I’m happy keeping my own opinions for fun dinner conversation.” She won’t discuss her love life: Olsen says it’s just something that is “in her bones” and influenced heavily by her notoriously private older sisters. “From an outside point of view, people have an interest in people they’ve seen grow up. But no one in my family has ever cared to feed into that or make it more interesting than it is because, really, it’s not.” She doesn’t like fan mail either: “When I’m filming on location, our production office is listed and people send stuff. It makes me uncomfortable. I don’t want people to know what I’m up to or where I am.” She rents a house in LA & she has a roommate: “The moment I own a house, it becomes public knowledge,” she says, going on to describe the “crippling” nature of paparazzi in L.A., where, after being spotted, she won’t go home for several hours in case they follow her. “It’s pretty violating. At night when you can’t see anything because the flashes blind you, that’s really disconcerting.” [From Elle Canada] I understand just wanting to be a jobbing actress. I understand wanting to withhold part of yourself from the media. I even understand what she says about learning how to play the game and work “the system” to her advantage. But I feel like I’m hallucinating a little bit when she goes on and on about how she can’t own a house because then they know where you live and she’ll get pap’d every day. Maybe she’s really, really good at hiding out already, but there are RARELY candid photos of Olsen in LA or anywhere else. She gets photographed at premieres, media events and fashion events. She got pap’d in London when she went on a date with Tom Hiddleston last year. And beyond that… nothing. So is she really good at hiding out, or is she just not as famous as she thinks she is? Julia Roberts on staying in shape: ‘Remain calm, drink your water & be joyful’

The Cannes Film Festival starts next week, and Team USA is going to be pretty well-represented on the red carpet. In addition to the premiere of Woody Allen’s new movie, Café Society, Jodie Foster will be premiering her new film, Money Monster. Which means we’ll see Julia Roberts, George Clooney and probably Amal Clooney on the carpet. I’m genuinely excited about that. Julia tells InStyle – she’s the cover girl for June – that she might be wearing Givenchy, in which case it’s going to be HUGE… a huge disaster, that is, because Riccardo Tisci can’t design to save his life. But it will be great to see what Amal wears. Anyway, here are some highlights from Julia’s InStyle interview. On Jodie Foster: “Well, in my mind, she’s so scary, but really she’s so sweet… she’s so talented, notoriously brilliant. And she’s such a great actor. And really, she is very no-nonsense. She doesn’t think that there has to be some incredible, painful struggle to accomplish your goals. I thought she was crazy to be helming me and George—it’s like trying to keep puppies in a box.” Whether she’ll ever be on social media: “I think it’s like—what’s a good analogy? Listen, I don’t have my head in the sand. I’m aware of the different outlets, however you label them. It’s like people talking about a TV show: I can be perfectly aware of the TV show and the story, but it doesn’t mean I watch it. I have other friends who watch it, and they tell me about it. I mean, we were talking about Instagram. Everyone has Instagram on their phone. And I just, yeah, [if I had it] I would be looking at it all the time.” What she learned from her mom: “One of the greatest things she ever did for me … I remember asking her—when I had three kids under 3 years old and just felt like I was running in a thousand directions at once—“How on earth did you raise all of us? You worked full-time, and you did all these things.” She could have said, “Well, you know, you just do your best.” But she said, “Darling, it’s called day care. I dropped you and your sisters off at 7:30 in the morning, and I would pick you up at 4 in the afternoon.” But it didn’t feel like that to me. I didn’t feel like I was a dropped-off person who didn’t see her mom all day. I just felt completely part of her life, and she was part of mine. And that’s the magic trick: to make people feel that they’re with you when they’re not.” Whether she ever just goes shopping: “I do from time to time. It just kind of strikes at moments. The thing I never understood about fashion is that you put something on and you look and feel great, and then you put it on again 10 days later and it’s terrible.” How she stays in shape: “I feel like if I knew all the things to do [in terms of exercise], I would probably look like I was put together with tape. I would just go crazy. So I think, better just to remain calm, drink your water, get your sleep and be joyful. We definitely try to eat mindfully. As I always say to my kids, ‘You have to eat the good stuff to get the good stuff.’” Her first time at Cannes: “I’ve kind of avoided it. I mean, the first time I ever went to Asia was for a movie, Eat, Pray, Love. I’m a late bloomer.” [From InStyle, People] I always think Julia Roberts and Jennifer Aniston have the same kind of reaction to the rise of social media: social media came after their heydays, and they don’t really want to bother engaging in it. Surprisingly, Gwyneth Paltrow was in the same kind of boat, but she embraced her online presence and now she’s built an entirely new career out of it. Now, unlike other social-media-shy celebrities, I don’t get the feeling that Julia looks down on it at all. Like, she’s not judging it. She’s just not engaging with it at all. Also: I like what she says about her mom dropping off the kids at day care. Photos courtesy of WENN, cover courtesy of InStyle.

Chloe Grace Moretz Stands By Comments on Kim Kardashian’s Nude Selfie

Back in March, Kim Kardashian got everyone gabbing about a nude selfie she posted on Instagram. Now, we’ve seen Kim naked on many occasions, but something about this particular selfie generated a larger conversation among celebs and fans alike. While Bette Midler and Piers Morgan made jokes about the selfie queen’s post, Chloe Grace Moretz brought up a more serious point. “@KimKardashian I truly hope you realize how important setting goals are for young women, teaching them we have so much more to offer than just our bodies,” the 19-year-old tweeted. Kardashian didn’t take kindly to the criticism and shot back with some shade. “Let’s all welcome @ChloeGMoretz to twitter, since no one knows who she is,” wrote Kim. “Your Nylon cover is cute boo.” Now, Moretz addresses her response in an interview with Glamour magazine. “I was at dinner with my family [when] I got the notification [on my phone],” she told the publication. “I look at it and I go, ‘Oh my God. She responded,'” Moretz remembered. “My mom took the most offense to it because it was girl-on-girl hate and Kim didn’t come back with an educated response on body confidence,” she continued. “It was aggressive, and also it was incorrect.” View Slideshow: Kim Kardashian Nude Selfie: 8 Celebrity Copycats! “I don’t have 45 million followers or a TV show that follows my life, but people know who I am,” she added. “I pride myself on having opinions, and I don’t express them in snarky ways toward people.” After Moretz’s tweet, Kardashian wrote an lengthy essay defending herself and denouncing critics who spoke out against her nude selfie for what she believed was slut-shaming. “I am empowered by my body. I am empowered by my sexuality,” wrote the reality TV star, adding, “It’s 2016. The body-shaming and slut-shaming—it’s like, enough is enough.” Moretz, however, didn’t buy Kardashian’s thinly veiled attempt to pass off an attention grab as a statement on female empowerment. “That picture wasn’t linked to body confidence. It wasn’t a #BodyConfidence or #LoveWhoYouAre,” she said. “It was done in a slightly voyeuristic light, which I felt was a little inappropriate for young women to see.”  “I would hate for young women to feel they need to post certain photos in order to gain likes, retweets, favorites, and male attention,” added the actress.  “I wasn’t slut shaming. It’s not about body shaming.” You know what? We believe her. View Slideshow: 15 of the Most EPIC Kardashian-Jenner Feuds Ever!
