We just saw photos from her royal-themed baby shower, which some of you thought was gauche and others found sweet. Chrissy’s photoshoot theme for Self was motocross, which was clever. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a motocross theme for a women’s magazine, fitness or otherwise, apart from the occasional motorcycle as prop. They seem to have done the shoot when she was early in her pregnancy and hadn’t popped yet, or they Photoshopped her, it’s likely a bit of both. In the piece they say that Chrissy won’t discuss her due date as she’s trying to throw off the paparazzi. (Which is bizarre to me as she seems to enjoy them, but I get that she wants to protect her newborn.) They also talk about her cookbook and cooking blog, her TV hosting gigs, how busy she is and how she seems to get in a lot of twitter fights. I know Chrissy isn’t everyone’s favorite celebrity, she grates a little, but she does know how to hustle I’ll give her that. Plus she and John Legend are genuinely in love and coupled up, you can tell. On her approach to social media If I’m passionate about something, I’ll say it and deal with the consequences later. On her difficulty conceiving and going through IVF The big question was why this wasn’t working for us when I was young and he was healthy. I thought, People get pregnant by accident all the time! How does this happen? Emotionally, it could be really hard. One of the things that saved us is that we never did that real fertility thing, where you’re looking at the ovulation clock and saying, ‘Honey, get home; we have to do it right now.’ John would say, ‘Let’s never be that couple that has to schedule sex, where we put it on the calendar and say, OK, this is our night.’ So before we did IVF, even if we went a few days or a week, our feeling was, it’s cool, who cares? On being photographed at the beach when she was going through IVF I looked horrible, totally not myself. Then to not be able to say what it was, it sucked. On being both a foodie and a model It always bothered me when someone would interview a model and say, ‘What do you do to stay in shape?’ and she would say, ‘I love to eat pizza; I love to indulge.’ I’ve always been the first one to say, ‘Bulls—! No you don’t.’ So I’ve been hyperaware of that, and I waited years to write a cookbook because I wanted people to know I really do love food.” [She eats what she wants but stays active] I like having that balance. She’s worried about their new arrival but John is laid back He’s been wonderful. He has a big family with nieces and nephews, and he actually knows more than I do about kids. It’s going to be very sexy to see this new side of him… I’ve truly never been alone with a kid. I don’t think I’ve changed a diaper! I’m like, how many times a day do they go?… I’m a worrier, and he’s very laid-back. I am the crazier one in the relationship, and he’s more relaxed, for sure. She wants four kids, one after the other I think I’ll probably be pregnant all through my 30s,. I’ve always pictured everyone around the table for the holidays and together once a week. It’ll be heartbreaking if it doesn’t end up happening, but hopefully it will. We’ve got some embryos on hold. Four [kids] is good, I think. And then, maybe a dog after. She reads comments on online recipes in her spare time and her love of cooking came from watching her Thai mom improvise recipes. As for her interview, I came away from it with a better understanding of her. Chrissy seems both Type A, which I can respect, and rather open and honest while seeking attention. It’s the last couple of things which make her a bit overexposed. Chrissy is in our face a lot, but she’s somehow just as well known as her pop star husband, and that’s a feat for a model. Oh and I love what she said about models claiming they love to indulge. They may, but their idea of indulging is not the same as the rest of us. Tom Hiddleston will pee on you in a heartbeat if you get stung by a jellyfish

Embed from Getty Images Tom Hollander is best known – by me – for playing Mr. Collins in the Keira Knightley version of Pride & Prejudice. He also has a part in The Night Manager, starring Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie. They filmed TNM all over Europe and the Middle East, and the cast seemed to have a rare day off while they were filming in Mallorca. So they all went swimming together. And Hollander got stung by some jellyfish. And that’s when the story gets really interesting. You see, Tom Hiddleston is a good friend. He will pee on you in a heartbeat, that’s how lovely he is. Speaking on The Jonathan Ross Show, Tom Hollander – who also appears in ITV drama Doctor Thorne – said the incident happened in Mallorca while the whole cast were hanging out. He recalled: “Here I was sitting by the seaside with Hugh Laurie who is one of the most entertaining people you’ll ever meet in your life and Olivia Colman, Tom Hiddleston, Elizabeth Debicki… “The jellyfish incident was a sad tale because otherwise it was paradise until we went swimming and I, because I’m a gentlemen, lent Elizabeth Debicki my goggles which I’d brought to Mallorca because I knew about the jellyfish problem but she didn’t have any so she wore them and I swam into all the jellyfish. And I don’t know if you’ve ever been stung but it’s really, really painful. Guess who peed on me? Tom Hiddleston, he saw this, he is heroic and sort of Bond like. He’s officer class, he’s someone you want to stand next to as you go over the top in the First World War. Out of the corner of my eye someone with sharp strokes cutting through the water, Hiddleston had seen I was in trouble, he came out to me, I was standing on a rock submerged in just a few feet of water and he said, ‘It’s alright. Stand back, I know what to do’. And he said, ‘Where is it?’ I said ‘It’s all warm now.’ Tom had done what he needed to do which was to p**s all over me. And I’m sorry to say, it doesn’t actually work.” [From The Express] I’ve always thought that the urine-on-a-jellyfish-sting was true, but I looked it up and apparently there’s no scientific basis for it. In fact, urinating on a jellyfish sting can actually make the sting/pain worse. Which I didn’t know before now. Hiddles didn’t know either, which is why he peed on a friend. Poor Hollander! Caitlyn Jenner: I’ve gotten more flack for being Republican than being trans

When I watched Caitlyn Jenner’s 20/20 special last April, I came away genuinely moved. Caitlyn was still going by Bruce then, although she identified as a woman and was still in the middle of transitioning physically. While Caitlyn’s interview was interesting and even moving, the news of her transition was mostly fait accompli at that point. In fact, I was more surprised – and I said so at the time – that Caitlyn still identified as a Republican. And she still does! In the first season of her show, there were many record-scratch moments where Caitlyn was trying to hang out with her girlfriends and she would start spouting some GOP talking points and her girls were like, “Cait, you’re ignorant as hell.” Caitlyn’s consistent perspective seems to be that if someone wants to transition, then they should just be white and rich like her. Even after all that Cait went through, she was still being judgy about gay marriage as late as last fall!!! So, yeah, her politics are still more shocking to me at this point that her transition. And Caitlyn said as much during a speaking engagement at the University of Pennsylvania. Caitlyn Jenner appeared in front of a sold out house of students Wednesday night and U. Penn students didn’t hold back in asking important questions. In response to one student who asked Caitlyn why she doesn’t belong to a more liberal political party, the 66-year-old E! star replied (via a local Philadelphia blog), “I have gotten more flack for being a conservative Republican than I have for being trans.” Vanity Fair writer Buzz Bissinger, who was the one interviewing Cait last night, supported Caitlyn’s Republicanism adding, “Just because you change gender doesn’t mean you change your core beliefs.” Bissinger, who wrote Cait’s famous Vanity Fair article last year, later brought up the media headlines suggesting Cait transitioned for publicity or profit. “I don’t need the money. So I don’t understand that claim,” Jenner answered. “No one transitions for financial gain. No way…You don’t do it unless you know deep down in your soul that it’s the right thing to do. If I can’t be honest with myself about what I’m doing, I’m no good for anything.” Another student asked Caitlyn about her status as an LGBT role model. “I’m not a role model!” Jenner replied. “I’m so new to this community I don’t expect to be one.” Caitlyn also reflected on the fact she never told her father she was transgender before he died over a decade ago. Cait said she imagines her dad telling her today, “You know what, you’re doing a good job. You’re making a difference.” [From E! News] “I have gotten more flack for being a conservative Republican than I have for being trans.” That’s because your political affiliation is a choice. Being transgender is not a choice. You can chose to open your mind, acknowledge your privilege and try to open yourself to the transgender community. Chiwetel Ejiofor: ‘It’s probably harder to be gay’ than black in Hollywood

Chiwetel Ejiofor is during the promotional rounds for Triple 9, the cops-and-robbers movie also starring Kate Winslet, Anthony Mackie, Casey Affleck, Aaron Paul, Woody Harrelson and more. I remember that there were a lot of casting rumors going back and forth about this film, and I’m pleased that Chiwetel decided to do it. I’ve wanted good things for his career post-12 Years a Slave, but I think Chiwetel is more focused on diversifying his CV, doing a shoot ‘em action film here, a Marvel film there, a quiet African drama over there, and more. There’s no doubt in my mind that Chiwetel would be a much bigger “star” if he was white. But… I do have my doubts about whether Chiwetel is really interested in being a celebrity or a star. I think he just wants to work, and if he says that he’s living his dream, then I believe him. Anyway, as Chiwetel was promoting Triple 9, he was asked about Hollywood diversity and all of the hot topics of the day. And Chiwetel said something surprising – he thinks it’s harder to be gay in Hollywood than black in Hollywood. The industry has been accused of a lack of diversity following the 2016 Academy Awards nominations, where no African-American actor or director was nominated for a top honour for the second year in a row, but the 12 Years a Slave star believes it’s harder for someone to succeed if they’re homosexual than if they’re black. “I hope this changes (but) I think it’s probably harder to be gay,” he told British newspaper The Times. “I think sexuality is still marginalised in a way that is pretty open. I think it’s tough. I think for one’s own piece of mind, for one’s own sense of self and psychological health, I feel like that’s the horrible thing about ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ and all that f**ked-up s**t, because it produces a sense of shame, and therefore this sense of being ‘less than’, you know? And I hate that. I hate that for anybody.” But Chiwetel argues that at the same time, a person’s sexuality isn’t anyone else’s business, and if the individual wants to, they should be able to declare their preference without fear of it affecting their opportunities in life in any way. When it comes to race, the 38-year-old’s Nigerian heritage has never held him back from his dream of being an actor, having received a Best Actor Academy Award nomination for his role in 12 Years a Slave in 2013, and winning a Laurence Olivier Award for his theatre work in the 2008 production of Othello. “If I hadn’t had the opportunities and the fortune that I have had, of course I would have a very different perspective to that, but I can’t be completely intellectually dishonest about what has happened in my life … It’s a tiny bit more nuanced for me to talk about,” he explained. [From Contact Music] Ian McKellen was talking about this too last month – while #OscarsSoWhite, it’s also important to remember that #OscarsSoStraightCisgenderedandHeteronormative too, at least when it comes to “out” actors. No “out and proud” gay actor has ever won an Oscar. Ian McKellen wants to be the first! As for who has it harder, gay folks or black folks… this isn’t a slam against Chiwetel, who was just trying to be an awareness-raising ally, but it’s not a competition, and of course there is intersectionality, because of course there are black, gay actors and gay Hispanic actresses and bisexual Asian actors and they want to be able to work too. Henry Cavill: ‘When I was 19, I was going out with a 32-year-old’

Embed from Getty Images Last fall, we learned that Henry Cavill, 32, had started dating a university freshman named Tara King. Tara is 19 years old. According to the Daily Mail, they’re still together and he’s even taken her home to meet his family. She’s traveled with him several times, when her school schedule permits, and they really aren’t hiding their relationship at all. Henry has a new interview in Elle Magazine (the issue with Brie Larson as cover girl) and when he’s asked specifically about dating a 19-year-old, his answers are… interesting. I guess. Some highlights from the interview: Whether he ever had celebrity crushes when he was a kid: “I didn’t really, no. I didn’t have posters up. I still don’t have any crushes on actresses or models. It’s always been one of those things with girlfriends. They say, “Who’s on your list?” What do you call it, the Get Out of Jail Free card? [he’s told it’s a “hall pass”] Every single girlfriend has asked. I say I don’t have a list and they go, “Okay, well I’ve got this person….” And I go, “Stop right there. I don’t need to know who you really want to have sex with. I’m probably going to work with that person.” I just explained this to my girlfriend. She said, “That’s a fair point.” Whether he’s comfortable being naked on screen: “Are you kidding me? I had to start telling the producers, “Stop making me take my clothes off.” One year they said, “For the publicity shot, we’re going to have you shirtless holding a horse.” I said, “Why the f–k am I shirtless? My character has changed. He’s a morose, depressed dude.” They’re like, “Yeah… but people love it.” Whether he feels objectified: “I don’t consider it being objectified. If people like to see me with my shirt off, it’s enormously flattering. But that doesn’t mean I’m going to take my shirt off all the time.” Whether he can tell the difference between girls who want him or the ones who want Superman: “One, you never know. Two, if you’re just looking for a shag, does it really matter? And three, are they really different things? I think I have some similar traits or ideology to the character.” What he talks about with his 19-year-old girlfriend: “Everything. People say, “Age is just a number.” A lot of times it’s not just a number. It’s actually a real and true sign of someone’s maturity. But in this case, she’s fantastic.” The reaction to their age difference: “It’s a natural reaction. But when I was 19, I was going out with a 32-year-old.” What he learned from dating an older woman: “Things that I can’t mention in an article.” When he feels intimidated by a woman: “If someone’s trying to intimidate me, male or female, I don’t respect them enough to be intimidated. But when I first met my girlfriend, I was super intimidated. I wanted to impress her. I was thinking, Don’t mess this up, man. You’ve gotta play your cards exactly right… Everyone doubts themselves. It’s just a matter of admitting it or not.” [From Elle Magazine via Henry Cavill News] “A lot of times it’s not just a number. It’s actually a real and true sign of someone’s maturity. But in this case, she’s fantastic.” Is she though? Or is she just 19, blonde and inexperienced? That’s a whole other question though. Here’s the thing – there’s nothing technically wrong or illegal with Henry dating a 19-year-old. They’re consenting adults. And, quite honestly, I think the age difference bugs me so much because she’s in her first year of university/college – I remember what my first year of college was like, and I really didn’t need or want a 32-year-old dude hanging around me. As for the rest of it… very enlightening. He was intimidated by the thought of going up to Tara. He dated a 32 year old when he was 19. The anti-Beyonce protest in NYC turned into a Black Lives Matter demonstration

They’re mad because Beyonce celebrated her blackness in the “Formation” video. They’re mad that she had the audacity to feature the phrase “stop killing us” in the video. They’re mad because something something black people and police. And they’re especially mad that Beyonce slayed at the Super Bowl and that she and her militant dancers threw up a Black Power salute during their performance. My reaction to all of that outrage has been “…and?” Why wouldn’t Bey celebrate her blackness? Why wouldn’t she have something to say about cops killing people of color? Why would her militancy – or her use of militant imagery – offend people so damn much? So, all of the sad anti-Beyonce people decided to throw an anti-Beyonce protest in New York yesterday. It’s pretty well-established that Leonardo DiCaprio will never, ever have a girlfriend older than 25. That’s his cut-off age, and you could feel his pain at dating Kelly Rohrbach after her 25th birthday. He knew he would have to end it. So, Leo has been single for this Oscar season. He’s reportedly been enjoying the bachelor lifestyle quite a lot over the past few months, allegedly bringing four ladies back to his London hotel room last month, possibly “hanging out” with Rihanna in Paris, and more. So when Leo was back in London this weekend for the BAFTAs, he had his choice of blondes and models and blonde models. He apparently chose Irish celebrity/presenter Laura Whitmore. SHE IS 30 YEARS OLD! GASP! Leonardo DiCaprio took ITV presenter Laura Whitmore back to his hotel suite after a wild night celebrating his Bafta win. The 41-year-old, who won for his role in The Revenant, plucked the I’m A Celebrity presenter out of a group of women vying for his attention at an after-party at London’s Rosewood Hotel. An onlooker said: “Leonardo was completely taken by Laura. She was playing it cool but he made a beeline for her and they instantly started flirting. She loved the attention and they were all over each other, getting on like a house on fire. Leo made it clear he wanted her to come back upstairs to his suite at the hotel to continue the party afterwards.” Irish Laura, 30, followed the superstar to his suite with a close group of pals at 3.30am where the party continued. A partygoer revealed: “He was all over Laura until after 5am. At one point he held her face in his hand.” Also vying for Leo’s attention was British model Lily Donaldson, 29. A party source added: “Leo was all over Lily too.” [From The Sun] I’m just like Leo – I get hot for the Irish accent too. So while Laura just looks like a typical pretty blonde lady to me, the Irish accent probably gives her an edge. An edge that makes her age forgettable, at least for a night. Actually, I think Leo only cares about the 25-year-old cutoff when it comes to OFFICIAL girlfriends, like bike riding companions and such.
