Julia Roberts laughed at ‘image-obsessed’ Amal Clooney: ‘She’s so absurd’

As previewed yesterday, this week’s tabloids are full of interesting/funny/untrue speculation about George and Amal Clooney’s marriage, based solely on their appearance at the Cannes Film Festival last week. For the record (since we’re on the record!), I kind of think George and Amal are fine. Their first year of marriage was a whirlwind of craziness, but they seem to have “settled down” quite a bit in 2016. Still, I always enjoy some good Amal gossip. In Touch Weekly had the longer story full of deliciously bitchy details. Some highlights: Amal’s posing. An insider says: “Cannes has strict rules about a non-movie member posing for obligatory cast photos – it’s a big deal and very rare for a spouse to join. But Amal, with George’s blessing of course, barged right in. Amal wore a look-at-me bright yellow gown amid the cast’s sea of black, she had trouble adjusting her long train in the wind so she also held up the entire process, which meant all eyes were on her.” Julia was pissed. “Julia was stunned that Amal tried to steal her show and her thunder, and that George actually let her.” So in retaliation, Julia flirted with George, and the source says, “Amal felt like Julia was flirting with George and she was seething!” Amal hates Julia. Amal hated how friendly George and Julia were on the set of Money Monster and “Amal can’t stand how Julia monopolizes her husband’s time.” After the Cannes red carpet, Amal pulled George aside and told him that Julia was being “disrespectful.” Julia “was so mad that she had a mini-meltdown about it and was overheard complaining about Amal’s rude move and George should have known better.” Julia hates Amal too. After spending some time with Amal and George in Como, Italy last summer, “Julia left with a very bad taste in her mouth.” Julia would “mock image-obsessed Amal behind her back after seeing how Amal constantly had her hair and makeup touched up and wore glamorous gowns during a casual weekend.” A source says: “Julia laughed at her because she thinks she’s so absurd.” [From In Touch Weekly, print edition] While I think this whole thing is being overblown, I do believe that there’s some shade and gossip going on at the core. Like, Julia was pissed that Amal was being so showy and look-at-me. And Amal was pissed because Julia was goose-honking all over George. I also sort of believe that Amal is severely image-obsessed? That’s just my gut-level reaction to seeing her pap strolls and red carpet posing. Meanwhile, Star Magazine claims that Amal and George looked like they were having serious problems at Cannes. A Cannes tipster reveals that after George and Amal walked the Cannes carpet together, they stopped pretending to be all lovey-dovey. “Once inside, it was obvious to everyone there that George and Amal had been fighting all day. I don’t think either one of them wanted to be there.” Arms crossed and scowl fixed, it was clear the human rights lawyer wasn’t happy with her husband. In fact, eyewitnesses say the two barely said a word to each other during dinner that night at Le Michelangelo in Antibes and cast a frosty chill over the afterparty at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc. “It looked like George truly regretted bringing Amal out. Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna got engaged back in April. At the time, it seemed like a sudden move. And while I would never dare suggest that this is just a reality-show version of a shotgun marriage, that’s exactly what it looks like. On Friday, Blac Chyna and Rob confirmed that they are expecting their first child together. The baby will be Rob’s first overall, and Chyna’s second – she’s also mom to son King Cairo, whose father is Tyga (Kylie Jenner’s boyfriend). Chyna’s rep confirmed the pregnancy far and wide, telling media outlets: “I can confirm she’s pregnant and of course she’s happy.” But of course there’s already drama. People Magazine also noted in a later post that Chyna and Rob were not expecting to announce the news on Friday – they wanted to do it today, Sunday, for Mother’s Day. Chyna’s rep once again went to People and said: “She would have preferred to have announced it on Mother’s Day herself, but her hand was forced.” Who was “forcing” her hand? The Kardashian clan. Apparently, someone (or multiple someones) leaked the pregnancy info to media outlets on Friday, just to get at Chyna… maybe. I find it interesting that her rep is going on the record to People Mag just to stir the sh-t. As it turns out, Chyna has been a Kardashian all along, you know? She fits right in with the K-klan. People Mag also ran several positive, exclusive stories about the pregnancy and how Rob is elated about becoming a father, especially considering he lost his own father at such a young age. There’s also some insidery info about how the Kardashian-Jenner clan reacted to the news – go here to read. Apparently, Kris Jenner is not thrilled, and the Kardashian sisters are just sort of shell-shocked. Sources also say that Kim is already coming around, basically because she doesn’t see the point in starting a war with Rob and Chyna. Interestingly enough, in this week’s Life & Style, sources note that Rob is getting a bigger paycheck for Keeping Up with the Kardashians this season. For several seasons now, Rob has been in the wind, barely making appearances and not really engaging with the various storylines of the show. But if you’ve been watching this new season (currently airing), you might have noticed that Rob’s storyline is really dominating the show. So let me ask you… was that the plan all along? ???? Another day, another story about how LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian are close to broke-ass-broke. Star Magazine decide to run yet another piece about how Eddie is a terrible golddigger who will eventually dump LeAnn because she can’t afford to keep him in the lap of luxury for much longer. Star references their previous reporting on the alleged $350,000 LeAnn and Eddie borrowed from Dave and Lizzie Fradin, their couple-BFFs. The Fradins are their constant vacation-companions, and just judging solely from the photos that LeAnn posts on her social media, I’ve always thought that Lizzie and Eddie probably have something going on the side. I’m just saying, she looks like his type. Anyway, here are some highlights from Star’s current LeAnn-and-Eddie story: Dave & Lizzie Fradin are their constant companions. LeAnn and Eddie brought the Fradins along to Cabo for their anniversary trip, and Eddie spent most of the trip bonding with Dave. The money is running out. According to Star, they’re living on the equity pulled from their $3 million Hidden Hills home, but they had to borrow $350,000 from the Fradins as a down payment, then took out a $2.1 million loan. Eddie is a golddigger. An insider says: “Eddie married a mega-rich woman but now, with LeAnn’s career in crisis, they’re living on loans and struggling to make ends meet. It’s only a matter of time before the money runs out and they can’t borrow any more. When that happens, Edie won’t be sticking around… bottom line, Eddie is a complete golddigger. Deep down LeAnn knows he’ll leave her if she can’t regain her fame and fortune. If she can’t keep the gravy train going, her marriage is over.” LeAnn keeps alienating fans & friends. She was rude to Bill Mack, and she’s constantly skipping shows and forgetting her lyrics. An insider says: “LeAnn badly needs a hit, but what does she do? Makes enemies in the business.” LeAnn doesn’t want Eddie to work. Because of the constant rumors of Eddie’s wandering eye, the insider says: “LeAnn’s incredibly insecure and she’s glad Eddie isn’t working, because she fears he’ll sleep with any cute actress in his line of vision.” LeAnn was trying to make Eddie jealous. During the Cabo trip, LeAnn tried to chat up various men, just to get Eddie’s attention. He wasn’t biting. The insider says: “Eddie doesn’t care who she flirts with, he has no passion for her anymore. I believe that LeAnn doesn’t want Eddie to work because she KNOWS he will bang anything with a pulse. A week after the album dropped, Beyonce attended the highly publicized Met Gala, but conspicuously absent was her husband. In fact, Jay Z’s no-show raised eyebrows everywhere. After all, Beyonce just announced to the world that her husband was a cheating sack of sh*t, and now she’s attending one of the most high-profile events of the year solo? However, a source tells E! News that Jay Z skipped the ball so the focus could remain on Bey and her new album. “They thought it was a good move that Beyonce go alone this year to the Met,” reveals the insider. While Khloe Kardashian keeps teasing the media on whether or not she plans to reconcile with estranged husband Lamar Odom, her father-in-law Joe Odom has claimed that she kicked him out of his home last year. Joe, a veteran who suffers from PTSD and pneumonia, lived in a $4,000-a-month home with his wife Cecelia in Los Angeles, the rent on which his son Lamar paid for 10 years. But when Lamar fell into a coma following a drug overdose last November, Khloe took over her husband’s finances and cut Joe off, he told the Post. “She disrespected me,” Lamar’s dad told the paper. “She decided to kick me out of my home when Lamar was in hospital in Nevada.” Joe said the bad news was not delivered by Khloe, but by accountants. “Khloe didn’t even have the guts to tell me herself that my rent wasn’t going to be paid anymore,” he said. “She got the guys who handle Lamar’s money to call me and they said the rent wouldn’t be paid, I gotta move and my phone was going to get cut off.” View Slideshow: Khloe Kardashian & Lamar Odom: Romance Rewind … Then Unwind Joe and his wife had no choice but to move back to Brooklyn, where they are struggling financially. Since questions about feminism have been popular with entertainment journalists for the past few years, Aniston has been asked about her feminism several times, and she always maintains that yes, she is a feminist and no, she has no problem identifying that way. There’s no word-game about “humanism.” There’s no “but I like boys, thus I can’t be a feminist!” Well, as part of her People Magazine “Most Beautiful” cover, Aniston answered a lot of questions about different things, including feminism. And she cites Gloria Steinem as the person who taught her about feminism. She also talks about skinny jeans! Jennifer’s biggest beauty icon is Gloria Steinem. “I’ve always thought Gloria is quite stunning for many, many reasons besides her exterior. She’s taught me about feminism. There was a time when I was like, ‘I’m not quite sure I understand what this is?’ And she’s like, ‘It’s very simple: it’s just about equality. That’s all it is.’ She’s just taught me – have you seen her HBO documentary? I’ve seen it like eight times. She’s just a very beautiful, strong woman.” What Justin Theroux likes to see her wear: “Well, let me tell you. I think I’m pretty much the same but he really enjoys me in a skinny jean, which I loathe. But I think I have more skinny jeans these days than normal.” How she influenced Justin’s wardrobe: “Color! For many, many years now, the tabloids have been obsessed with the idea that LeAnn Rimes is running out of money, or that she’s bad with money, or that she spends too much money supporting her perpetually underemployed husband, Eddie Cibrian. I honestly believe a lot of those stories. While LeAnn was at one time pretty well off, she doesn’t have a lot of income coming in, and she has likely spent a good chunk of her savings since marrying Eddie. But still, we wait for the money to really dry up, and it hasn’t… yet. Which is my way of saying that this Star story could have been published at any point in the past six years: Turns out you can’t live a jet-set lifestyle on zero dollars a year – just ask LeAnn Rimes, who’s hoping a comeback tour will get her finances back in the black. And if it doesn’t, insiders believe it won’t just break the bank, but also her marriage to actor Eddie Cibrian! “LeAnn knows she’s neglected her career for too long,” admits a friend. “At this point she’s known more for her affair with Eddie than for being a singer.” LeAnn’s last album, 2013’s Spitfire, was a flop, and Eddie’s last major job was a three-episode stint on Baby Daddy. “They’ve coasted off LeAnn’s savings since they got together five years ago, but they live large with a huge mansion and lots of trips,” adds the insider. “Plus, she helps support his two sons.” Now LeAnn is ready to hit the road for a big concert tour… just with only two small shows scheduled this year, friends wonder if her dire financial straits will shatter her marriage to the 42-year-old Cibrian, who has grown accustomed to the A-list lifestyle, fueled by his wife’s nest egg. “Eddie married a rich girl on purpose,” says the pal. “So what happens when that’s no longer the case?” [From Star Magazine, print edition] The problem isn’t just that LeAnn is more known for the affair, it’s that she’s known for being a crazy Single White Female and a Twitter-stalker and all of that. And that means no one is really interested in hearing her sing. It’s a weird, LeAnn-specific conundrum, really. There are plenty of C-listers able to find revenue streams through social media, club appearances, random promotional work and guest appearances. But I get the feeling that A) LeAnn thinks a lot of that stuff is beneath her and B) no one is offering those deals to LeAnn anyway. What makes this story extra-funny is that Eddie’s rep went to Gossip Cop to deny it! Did you know Eddie still has a rep? He hasn’t worked in a year, and even then (as Star points out), it was just a minor guest spot on basic-cable. How does he still afford to have a publicist, hm? Well, Eddie DOES have a rep and the rep says: “Their marriage is fine… their finances are fine.” CASE CLOSED! Also, LeAnn posted this on her Instagram. I have no words. I was 14, he was 23. We don't remember meeting. He found this in the garage while going through boxes. 14 years later who knew we'd meet again. Crazy, all the life that happened between those two encounters, the lessons that needed to be learned. Fate? Chance? Serendipity? Who knows ?
