Elizabeth Olsen let her sisters dress her up like a goth ghost for the CFDAs

The CFDAs were held last night in New York. I generally find the CFDAs kind of boring, fashion-wise. It’s not the Met Gala and it’s not the Oscars. Some ladies try to do something different, but most people just look vaguely nice and not particularly noteworthy. Take the Olsen sisters – we’ve seen Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen look like Victorian ghosts a million times before. The only difference is that at the CFDAs, they dressed their little sister Elizabeth in The Row and now she looks like a Victorian ghost now too. More photos… Stephanie Sokolinski (Soko!!) looking tired in Gucci. It really is about styling with this woman, and I really, really want to take away her pink-brown eye makeup. The dress is fine (and it suits her) but I think she would look better with different hair and makeup. Adriana Lima in Marc Jacobs. I like that she wore pants. This outfit is nice. Riley Keough in Proenza Schouler. I’m actually not a fan of Proenza Schouler, I think the clothes usually look overworked and fashion-student-y. But this was one of my favorite dresses at the event. Jessica Chastain in Prabal Gurung. Love the dress, hate the styling. Chastain was doing so well, and I really thought she had gotten some better hair and makeup people. But maybe not. Because she should never, ever do her hair like this. Jennifer Hudson in Prabal Gurung. Pretty dress, but it feels too big and heavy for this event. I also don’t like how she matched her lipstick to the dress exactly. Photos courtesy of WENN.

Leonardo DiCaprio Takes Private Jet to Accept Environmental Award

This week, Leonardo DiCaprio was bestowed with a prestigious award for his environmental activism by New York nonprofit Riverkeeper. Awesome. Except that he arrived to the city via private jet. Maybe not so awesome. The actor was in France for the Cannes Film Festival when he jetted off to NYC, and then returned to the South of France the next day in another private jet. Needless to say, many fans weren’t thrilled, because that’s a lot of gas for just one dude. Nevertheless, DiCaprio’s rep explained that the Oscar-winner was due back in Cannes to speak at the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala and had few options for transportation. “He was asked to speak at both Riverkeeper and amfAR events, but the only way to attend the two fundraisers was to hitch a ride with flights that were already planned,” the rep told Us Weekly. “Leo helped both events raise millions, donated his own funds, auctioned off his house and had speaking roles in both programs.” Yeah, but still. The optics. During the gala, DiCaprio auctioned off a stay at his Palm Springs home for $336,000, which benefitted the charity. DiCaprio dedicated a good portion of his acceptance speech at the Academy Awards this year to the subject of climate change. “Climate change is real. It is happening right now,” he told the audience. “It is the most urgent threat affecting our entire species.”  “We need to support leaders around the world… who speak for all of humanity… I thank you all for this amazing award tonight. Let us not take this planet for granted. I do not take this award for granted.” After the speech, he received a standing ovation and the adoration of environmentalists everywhere.

Kelly Ripa ‘livid’ Michael Strahan left without telling her, she hasn’t returned

Michael Strahan has co-hosted Live! with Kelly Ripa for nearly four years now. Kelly has been on the show for fifteen, since Kathy Lee Gifford left and she co-hosted with Regis Philbin, who retired in 2011. (He’s still kicking at 84, I just checked.) So you would think that Kelly would be one of the first people to learn that her longterm co-host was leaving the show to join Good Morning America. According to outlets including TMZ, E!, and People that wasn’t the case and Ripa found out via a memo to the entire network like everyone else. No one at her workplace, not even Strahan, gave her a heads up and she was understandably “livid.” According to E! Strahan couldn’t tell Ripa because network execs told him not to. About an hour after LIVE! With Kelly and Michael aired Tuesday, an internal memo at ABC revealed he would be leaving the show by summer’s end to work on Good Morning America full-time. His co-host, Kelly Ripa, did not receive a heads up. In fact, E! News has learned that executives broke the news to her just after the show finished taping—around the same time everyone else first heard about it. “She was livid,” a source says exclusively. “It wasn’t pretty.” Strahan joined Ripa and others in the meeting. “He wanted to be there. He didn’t have to be, but he didn’t want to have her hear it and not be there,” the source says. “He tried to do the stand up thing.” Strahan, who replaced Regis Philbin in 2012, has been a correspondent on ABC’s Good Morning America since 2014. When executives decided to move him to the news show full-time, they intentionally kept Ripa and others key staff members in the dark to prevent leaks. “That was a network decision,” the source says, adding that it was a carefully executed plan. “It wasn’t an overnight decision and took some time to put it in place.” Strahan didn’t have a say in the matter. “He’s not the boss,” the source tells E! News. “He is an employee of the network.” [From E! Online] That’s a weak excuse that network execs they were worried about leaks. They could have at least told Kelly, that would have only been fair. People confirms E!’s version of events and adds that Kelly “went crazy.” TMZ is reporting that while it’s true that Strahan was under orders not to tell Ripa, “Kelly and Michael don’t get along” and Ripa feels like “he’s disrespectful to her and is full of himself.” In an earlier story, TMZ revealed that ABC is considering canceling Live and adding a third hour to Good Morning America, which is facing stiff competition from The Today Show. Ripa did not host Live! on Wednesday and was replaced by Ana Gasteyer. Sources tell US Magazine that Ripa took a sick day. Strahan had some nice things to say about her, and about his time on Live, at the end of the show, but who knows if he’s paying lip service. People has a source close to Strahan who says that “He very much wanted to do the right thing” by telling “her in person and [giving] her months notice” but that he couldn’t. Strahan is said to be “hurt by her reaction” and “the very public way she’s handling this.” Their source added “You can’t not show up for work. If you’re going to have a meltdown you don’t do it publicly.” It’s not public! Kelly didn’t show up for work. She didn’t tweet or Instagram anything. She may have gotten mad at work but she didn’t make her response public, she just took time off, as is her right. It looks like this show is about to get canceled and like they put off telling Ripa until it was absolutely necessary. People is reporting that it’s unknown when Kelly will return to the show. A source tells them that Kelly plans to stay out this entire week. Additional stories have come out stating that Kelly is on a 20th anniversary vacation with her family and husband, Mark Consuelos, in Turks and Caicos. Apparently the trip was planned already and she was supposed to be out on Friday and Monday, but left early when she was blindsided by the news of Strahan leaving the show. photos credit: WENN.com

Chris Evans: It’s a ‘bummer’ when ladies text me back right after we meet

I don’t remember covering these photos of Chris Evans from the Oscars, so here you go. Better late than never. Chris attended this year’s Oscars as a presenter, and he brought his sister Carly and his brother Scott as his dates. He even brought them to the Vanity Fair Oscar party (and Scott is HOT!). Chris is Boston born and bred and he’s always been pretty clear about what he’s looking for in a woman/girlfriend/wife: he wants a Boston girl. A Boston girl with some junk in the trunk. Back in 2012, he told Playboy that he likes “strange things” and “I like a good ass… I can say that? I like a big ass.” So, his obsession with ladies having some junk in the trunk has been documented over the years. Chris went on Anna Faris’ podcast this week and she got him to talk more about how he’s an ass man, whether he’s ever sent a dick pic and whether he likes it when girls text him right away. Chris Evans is a man that knows exactly what he likes. The actor stopped by Anna Faris’ podcast titled Anna Faris Is Unqualified, alongside comedienne Jenny Slate, when things took risqué turn and got candid very quickly. Anna asked Chris whether he’s more interested in T or A, and if he’s into being sent nude photos from ladies he’s romantically involved with. “I’m way more of an ass man, clearly,” he said while laughing on the program. “I like butts. I guess [I like] butt pics.” He also joked that while some may regret sending naked photos (security reasons aside), “nobody sends a bad dick pic…There’s always like a full photo shoot, like a four-hour photo shoot with filters,” he added without confirming (or denying, really) that he was speaking from experience. Anna chimed in by noting that she and hubby Chris Pratt used to send lovey dovey shots to one another, but “we try to be careful now about what we send each other.” Then, Anna quizzed Chris on his pickup game—take note, everyone. “Let’s say you meet a super hot girl at a bar. You feel like a nice connection with her and she’s really hot,” Anna began. “Would you give her your own number or your assistant’s [number]?” “I would probably ask for hers,” he answers. Nicely done, Chris. But he adds that too much communicating right out of the gate can be a bad thing. “Let’s say we met at 10, and I left the bar at 11 and I sent her a text at 11:30 saying, ‘Hey, it was great to meet you.’ And she responds, ‘Yeah, you too.’ And at 3 a.m. there’s another text [from her], right away it’s a little bit of a bummer.” [From E! News] So if you are a lady with some junk in the trunk and a Boston accent, and Chris Evans gets your digits, don’t text him back right away. Even if he’s sending you airbrushed dick pics and texting you just minutes after you’ve met. Do not text him right away. He likes “the hunt.” He likes mystery. He likes to be kept waiting. Just FYI. Also: what would you do if Captain America sent you a dick pic? While he’s not my favorite person or anything, I think even I would be into it. Truly. Photos courtesy of WENN.

Why didn’t people clap for Mad Max costume designer Jenny Beavan?

Embed from Getty Images Jenny Beavan took the home the Oscar for Best Costume Design for Mad Max: Fury Road last Sunday. As soon as she hit the stage, my girlfriend in New York shot out a group email saying, “How bad@ss is it the Best Costume Designer is wearing a leather jacket?” We all sent back cyber fist bumps. Apparently, the glitterati of Hollywood did not share our enthusiasm. As Jenny walked victorious to the stage, a number of high ranking entertainment industry folks either looked dismayed or withheld applause. The soon-to-be Best Director Alejandro Iñárritu even folded his arms across his chest. The question is, were his actions sour grapes that his designer for the The Revenant lost or did all the haut monde feel Jenny was too casual for their fancy dress party: What gives? Some of Hollywood’s biggest talents refused to clap for Mad Max: Fury Road costume designer Jenny Beavan on Sunday, February 28, as she walked up to the Dolby Theatre stage to accept her Academy Award — and the reason why they didn’t applaud her is even worse. Beavan broke away from the Oscars’ traditional dress code at the 88th awards ceremony, proudly grinning and walking down the aisle in a leather jacket (complete with a studded skull on the back) and a striped scarf. As she walked by, several audience members glowered and gave her judgmental looks. Four-time-Oscar-winning director Alejandro Iñárritu crossed his arms and glared, while Spotlight director Tom McCarthy touched his face with a confused expression. Other members of the audience were seen giggling and smiling before raising their hands to belatedly clap for the recipient. [From Us Weekly] This jacket is looking to take down Awards Season. This is the same jacket, minus the bedazzled Skull of Awesome, Jenny wore to the BAFTAs when Stephen Fry joked, “Only one of the great cinematic costume designers would come to an awards ceremony dressed as a bag lady,” after she’d won for Max. Twitter attacked him and he quit Twitter saying, “Will all you sanctimonious f****** f*** the f*** off Jenny Beavan is a friend and joshing is legitimate. Christ I want to leave the planet.” After the BAFTAs, Jenny said she wasn’t comfortable in a gown and her bad back prohibited heels. Then she quipped, “… This was a homage to Mad Max and I obviously didn’t get it quite right at the Baftas, the scarf was meant to be an oil rag.” The best news? The jacket is not only faux-leather but currently on sale at Marks and Spencer for about $60. I am not saying Oscar fashion isn’t important; I salivate over the gowns and rush to read the commentary on this website as quickly as you do. But Jenny wasn’t asked to present, she wasn’t loaned a gown or even interviewed on the red carpet; she had the luxury to wear something more comfortable. Fellow nominee Sandy Powell made a statement with a David Bowie inspired suit and all that got her was Juliana Ranic and Kris Jenner misidentifying her as Tilda Swinton. Designer Jacqueline Durran wore a long denim tied-front jacket to accept her Oscar in 2013 and in 1995 Lizzy Gardiner infamously wore a dress made of American Express Gold cards. Sure Jenny could have paired her jacket with silk palazzos but I stick with my girlfriend’s original assessment – it was bad@ss. Leo DiCaprio celebrated his Oscar win by wolf-howling with his Wolf Pack

I made a mistake yesterday when I was talking about Leonardo DiCaprio. I made a reference to the “P-ssy Posse,” Leo’s long-standing group of bros. Only they aren’t calling themselves that anymore. So sad! According to multiple reports about Leo’s post-Oscar-win partying, Leo and his bros call themselves The Wolf Pack now. As in… Wolf of Wall Street? Or the “wolf pack” from The Hangover series? Both options are pretty bad. Leonardo DiCaprio celebrated his Oscar win with an intimate party with his friends and family. DiCaprio attended the Governors Ball and the Vanity Fair bash before heading to restaurant Ago on Melrose Avenue to meet up with his nearest and dearest “where everyone could get in,” says a source. “Leo was with all his boys,” says a witness. “It was a lot of dudes.” We hear the jolly group included Lukas Haas, Tobey Maguire, Chuck Pacheco, his “Romeo + Juliet” co-star Vincent Laresca and club vet Richie Akiva. Leo’s mom Irmelin Indenbirken, dad George, stepmom Peggy DiCaprio, as well as “The Revenant” producer and New Regency owner Arnon Milchan and others on his team hung out to celebrate. “A couple of the guys kept standing on the couch and lifting the Oscar and passing it around,” says the spy. And rather like a scene from his movie “The Wolf of Wall Street” the crew was howling and chanting, “Wolf pack, wolf pack, wolf pack.” DiCaprio was having so much fun, he appeared to almost forget his Oscar. Video outside the bash shows the star seated in a car before someone rushes out with his statuette. [From Page Six] The NYDN says that Leo and his boys rolled up at Ago around midnight, and a witness said, “They (apparently) called themselves ‘The Wolf Pack.’ The crew was literally howling like wolves all night. They kept chanting, ‘Wolf Pack, Wolf Pack, Wolf Pack!’” My God, how cheesy. I’m all for men having dude-friends and some days, I actually think it’s sweet that Leo has such a core group of bros that he’s been close to for literally decades. But is it really a friendship of equals, or is Leo now (and has he always been) the King of the Wolves? The balance of power has always been off with this group, because it’s always all about Leo. Yeah, he takes care of his boys and in return, they all act like overgrown frat douches and wolf-howl all over LA clubs. Cheeseball. Is Garner competing with Affleck to see who can get the most publicity?

Jennifer Garner timed her Vanity Fair cover so that it came out on the Friday right before the Oscars. The last time she was at the Academy Awards was in 2014 when she was a presenter, and Affleck was her date. (That was the year following his 2013 win for Best Picture, for Argo.) This year she was a presenter again and she flew solo. So she wanted people to know about it, so she got some publicity ahead of the Oscars. It’s also interesting to me that Garner’s publicity blitz for her Christian movie, Miracles from Heaven, out March 16th, comes as Affleck is furiously trying to promote Batman v. Superman, out March 25th. Warner Brothers is said to be running scared because Deadpool changed the entire superhero genre with an insanely successful dirty, funny R-Rated movie made on a $58 million budget. Batman v. Superman is an old school dark superhero movie that looks like it takes itself too seriously. It may also end up being the most expensive movie ever made. Just a few months ago we heard that the production budget was up to $410 million. So there’s a lot riding on Batman v. Superman, including Affleck’s career. He wrote it after all. You get the sense that Garner is trying to steal his thunder, which I don’t blame her for. It’s clever, she’s not being openly disparaging of him despite the digs she got in during her interview and she’s getting her side of the story out there. Radar claims that Affleck’s team is livid about her VF interview because Garner confirmed that Affleck was with the nanny – even though she tried to soften the blow by saying they were separated at the time. They quote a source who claims Affleck and his team are “furious,” but that he “can’t do anything until after his movies come out.” He also has Live by Night slated for release, but Radar is wrong, it’s not out until 2017. So maybe that’s all conjecture, but it’s hard to see how Affleck’s people would sign off on Garner’s VF interview. In the latest news about these two, Affleck has a contest through Omaze which offers a ride in the Batman to the film’s premiere to a random person who donates to his charity, The Eastern Congo Initiative. He visited Warner Brothers Studio tour and surprised fans with a ride in The Batmobile. You can see that video here, it was actually really cute. Meanwhile Vanity Fair has released a video of Jennifer Garner reading Go The F-k To Sleep in her saccharine sweet way. This book came out in 2011 and yet another celebrity reading it seems hackneyed. I really do get the impression that she’s competing with him now, and that she’s going to show him that she can fight back and come out of it smelling like roses.
