Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton: It’s Baby-Making Time!

So, things are moving along nicely for these two. It hasn’t been six months since Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton officially started dating, but let’s assume they want to make a baby together. Thankfully, In Touch has already set the scene.  The tabloid claims that Stefani, 46, “is freezing her eggs because she wants to have a baby with Blake.” Stefani has three boys with ex, Gavin Rossdale – Kingston,9, Zuma, 7, and Apollo, 2. The story goes on to mention what every woman loves to read about: the fact that her biological clock is ticking and the chances of conceiving a child diminish as she gets older. Fun! “She’d love to have a girl — plus Gwen knows her boys would love to have another sibling — and wants to give Blake this opportunity to have a child that biologically his,” a source told the tabloid. “But she doesn’t want her age to prevent this from happening.” Shelton, ever the gentleman, reportedly doesn’t want his lady love to fret. “Even though Blake is insisting he doesn’t need biological children, Gwen isn’t taking any chances.” In the April 2016 issue of Vanity Fair, Stefani didn’t elaborate too much on her relationship, but did confirm that she’s totes in L. “I think my spiritual journey is to have had these weird relationships and write music that people can somehow relate to,” Stefani,who just released her latest album, told the magazine. “I’ve never had a record that is almost all about being happy and in love.”

Emma Watson needs a better explanation for her Lancome skin-whitening ads

Several years back, Emma Watson got a lucrative beauty contract with Lancome. She became one of their “faces,” and she appeared in print ads for many different Lancome products. Her contract is done at this point, and I have no idea if Lancome simply didn’t renew it or if Emma just didn’t want to be in their advertising anymore. But this week, people started discussing a print ad from 2013. The print ad (seen above) features Emma as the “face” of a skin-whitening Lancome product being sold in Asia. As you can imagine, the reaction was really, really bad. People have been itching to write off Emma as just another non-intersectional white feminist, and this gave them a perfect opportunity. Beauty companies have long sold “skin lightening” products in countries with large (or nearly exclusive) populations of non-white women. Lancome is not the first nor will they be the last. Colorism, racism and the white-dominated hierarchy of beauty standards all come into play when we talk about skin lightening. We’ve talked about it before too, with Freida Pinto talking openly about her disgust for Indian society’s obsession with getting lighter skin. Anyway, the conversation centered around Emma and how she’s basically Peak White Feminism because she has profited from selling this bulls—t. So Emma’s publicist came out and this was literally the only statement made. “I cannot comment on my client’s previous contractual arrangements with Lancôme. However, my client no longer participates in advertising beauty products, which do not always reflect the diverse beauty of all women.” [Via People] If it sounds like Emma’s people are sort of throwing Lancome under the bus, that’s because I think they are. I also think there’s a very real possibility that Emma’s images were used by Lancome for skin-whitening products without her explicit or implicit endorsement. Oh, and a Lancome representative told People: “Blanc Expert was created by Lancôme 20 years ago. It helps brighten, even skin tone, and provides a healthy looking complexion. This kind of product, proposed by every brand, is an essential part of Asian women’s beauty routines.” [Via People] That pisses me off more than Emma’s rep’s statement. Skin-lightening products are not now and never have been an “essential” part of Asian women’s beauty routines and f—k you very much for saying so, Lancome. As for Emma and white feminism… I find Emma less harmful than someone like Lena Dunham, honestly. I think Emma is trying and she’s attempting to educate herself beyond the narrow feminist beliefs she held just a few years ago. Does she deserve some backlash? Sure. The animal-loving actress has been spending quite a bit of time with equestrian Karl Cook. Kaley, 30, and Karl, 25, were spotted taking in a tennis match together a few weeks ago in California and she has posted photos with him on Instagram, like the one she posted two weeks ago, congratulating Karl on winning a competition. The caption read, “Sooo how many wins does that make??? Amazing GP win @hitshorseshows #thermal, mr KC ?? so proud of you! (And entire team !) ?.” Couple selfies? Emojis? Horses? This could be love. Karl not only is a skilled equestrian, he also comes from good stock, as my Mom would say. His father, Scott Cook, founded the tax software firm Intuit, which created QuickBooks and TurboTax, and is valued at $2 billion. Not too shabby. And he’s a cutie to boot. Good on you, Kaley. Tyler Baltierra & Daughter Visit Catelynn Lowell in Rehab

Last week, Teen Mom star Catelynn Lowell checked into rehab in order to receive treatment for a number of emotional issues. In the days prior to her departure, there were rumors that Catelynn and Tyler Baltierra were headed for divorce, as both newlyweds posted cryptic and troubling social media messages hinting at trouble in the home. Fortunately, Tyler put those fears to rest over the weekend when he tweeted about bringing daughter Nova to visit Catelynn for the Easter holiday. “On a flight to go see Cate & Nova first choked on a cracker, then puked up the cracker all over me & then pooped, all within a half hour!” he tweeted on Saturday. Catelynn has spoken openly about her past struggles with postpartum depression, and though she didn’t go into detail about her latest bout, she has confirmed that she’ll be in treatment for the next several weeks. In the meantime, Tyler seems to be holding things down at home. According to his social media pages, he spent the weekend completing a renovation project and catching Batman v Superman with friends. The location of Catelynn’s treatment facility is unknown, but it seems Tyler and Nova will spend the next few days at a nearby hotel. ‘Batman v. Superman’ opens with $424 million worldwide: sad or awesome?

DC Comics apologists aside, most critics and audience members thought Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice was a terrible movie. But that didn’t stop anyone and everyone from going to see it on Easter weekend. On Friday, the film was already been tracked for a $180 million opening weekend domestically, and by Sunday, it had pretty much met that, opening with $170.1 million domestic, and $424 million worldwide. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice shattered box office records, opening to an estimated $170.1 million domestically over Easter weekend. Not only did Zack Snyder’s superhero epic set a new record for the all-time biggest March opening, obliterating The Hunger Games’ $152.5 million, but Batman v Superman now stands as the sixth biggest opening of all time. It also squeaked by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 ($169.2 million) to earn Warner Bros.’ biggest opening ever. Internationally, it added another $254 million for a worldwide total of $424 million — the fourth-biggest global opening of all time. Domestically, Batman v Superman didn’t manage to surpass its Marvel counterparts like The Avengers or Iron Man 3, but it did beat both globally, becoming only the fourth movie in history to cross $400 million worldwide in one weekend. Ben Affleck’s Batman also dethroned Christian Bale in The Dark Knight Rises ($160.9 million) and The Dark Knight ($158.4 million) as the biggest Batman and DC Comics openings ever. Batman v Superman’s runaway success spells good news for Warner Bros. after a lackluster 2015, and the studio had several pricy flops last year, including Jupiter Ascending, The Man From U.N.C.L.E., and Pan. [From EW] Well… good for Warner Bros… I guess. The good news is that there won’t be mass layoffs at Warner Bros because everyone over there decided to spend money like drunken sailors on shore leave. The bad news is that some people will start to believe that this (unsustainable) business model has legs. And while it shows that the Batman and Superman names are enough to get people in seats, that doesn’t mean that the film will stand the test of time, you know? But it does show that people are excited for the Wonder Woman movie, and that the Justice League movie is going to continue happening unabated. The next big test for this core audience of teen and 20-something men who love dark-as-hell superheroes and sh-tty scripts? The Suicide Squad, which comes out in August. Sad Batfleck is in that too. Kim Kardashian’s diet excludes sugar, sweets, cakes, crackers & white rice

Here are some photos of Kim Kardashian out and about on Friday in LA. This feels like the first time we’ve seen her in months without a long, butt-covering jacket or coat. That’s probably because she’s now lost so much of the pregnancy weight that she’s not afraid of photographers getting a few butt shots. While I respect her choice to not give the paps butt shots when she’s uncomfortable with her body, she’s got to know that she’s just driving up the price, right? Anyway, as Kim told us last week, she’s lost 42 pounds of the 70-pound weight loss goal she set for herself post-pregnancy. I think she looks good, as-is. Meaning, she looks comfortable at this weight and this is pretty much how she looked when she got pregnant with Saint West. But she still wants to lose more weight, and her nutritionist spoke to Glamour about Kim’s diet: Kim’s nutritionist, Colette Heimowitz, VP of nutrition and education at Atkins Nutritionals, chatted up Redbook and spilled. Kim, who’s losing about two pounds a week, is sticking to 1,800 calories a day—just right for a breastfeeding mama—says Heimowitz, and she chooses those calories carefully: Every meal includes protein, which she pairs with high-fiber foods (we love barley!) and healthy fats (olive oil, avocados). What she’s not eating: “Sugar, sweets, cakes, crackers, white flour, white rice.” One thing she’s not giving up? Cheese—just a little bit. Heimowitz told Redbook that Kim’s daily diet breaks down to: “four to six ounces of protein, four ounces of cheese, eight to 10 servings of veggies, and two tablespoons of added fat.” (“Added” fat doesn’t include the fat that’s already in the protein and cheese.) “The secret is [to] pick high-fiber carbohydrates that slow the release of sugar into the bloodstream,” Heimowitz told the mag. “[So] instead of white rice you have a little brown rice. Instead of a white potato you could have a yam. And [when you want] dessert, you can make one with Splenda instead of sugar.” [From Glamour] Atkins diets are always high in protein, as I think everyone knows by now, so it’s not a surprise that Kim includes protein in every meal. I feel like this cheese-specific diet was tailored for her though, which one would expect if one has an on-call nutritionist. Personally, I would rather give up cheese (gladly) for a baked potato every now and then. Besides that, I don’t really believe Kim has given up sugar, sweets, cakes, crackers, white flour and white rice. I think that’s what her nutritionist has told her to give up and Kim sneaks some cracked or a cupcake every so often. Like at a baby shower she hosted for Chrissy Teigen?
