Are the Cambridges allegedly considering a permanent move to London?

When I wrote about Ingrid Seward’s Mail-on-Sunday takedown of the Cambridges last week, I began to develop a theory about Prince William’s EAAA job. Sources have insisted that William barely even shows up to his part-time air-ambulance-pilot job, and when he does show up, he seems pretty bored. This is not a surprise – as soon as William began training for the job, I wondered if he would even make it a year in the position, and that was before we knew that he was really stretching the boundaries of what it means to work “part-time.” Anyway, I theorized that after William’s terrible month of sh-tty press, he would soon be announcing his retirement from the EAAA, and that he would be on to a new scheme to avoid royal work. Well, here’s something that adds to my theory – apparently, Will and Kate are looking to send George to a pre-prep school… in London! The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have put Prince George’s name down for his father’s old pre-prep school, Wetherby, I hear. It could be the clearest sign yet that the couple plan to relocate from Anmer Hall in Norfolk and take up permanent residence at Kensington Palace, which is half a mile from the all-boys’ school. There had been speculation that George, right, who currently attends a Montessori nursery, would go to Beeston Hall in Cromer. That would have allowed Kate, 34, to remain at secluded Anmer Hall, the home she retreated to when she abandoned the 115-year-old tradition of a female Royal presenting the Irish Guards with shamrocks on St Patrick’s Day. Although she relishes raising George, two, and his sister Charlotte in the privacy and tranquility of the countryside, it now seems that the Duchess may feel duty-bound to return to London and become full-time working Royal. It would also explain why Kate undertook a taxpayer-funded £4.5 million refurbishment of Kensington Palace in 2014. If George takes up his place, he will start at Wetherby next year. The move will put Kate and William in the capital at a time when the Queen, by then 91, will be reducing her workload. William and his brother Harry attended Wetherby, which charges £6,500 a term, before they left for Eton feeder Ludgrove prep. Wetherby pupils wear a distinctive red tie, grey cap and scarlet-trimmed blazer – I’m sure George will look adorable. [From The Daily Mail] Is this a signal that someone – either the Queen or Charles – has put their foot down about this increasingly farcical Gentleman Country Farmer/Norfolk Scheme? Or is this much to do about nothing? It’s possible William and Kate are still focused on doing the bare minimum from Norfolk, but they want to make it look like they’re considering moving to London. I guess I have problems believing that Will and Kate would relocate from Norfolk to London without months of more drama and tantrums. Speaking of, did you guys read the epic takedown of Kate in the Daily Mail on Friday? It was the best of British shade – they acted like they were complimenting her when really they were picking apart everything she has done as a duchess. They even call her the Duchess of Do-Little!! Yikes. The Mail points out that Kate “has become even more regal than her Royal in-laws” by half-mocking the fake-poshness of her accent, the changes she’s made to the way she walks and has her photograph taken, how she sits and how she’s all but abandoned High Street for customized pieces at an “astronomical cost.” What’s weird is that I disagree with a large part of this famed “transformation” Kate has made to make herself more regal. She spends a lot of her father-in-law’s money, for sure, but it wasn’t so long ago that we were getting regular Marilyn Moments, sausage curls, jeggings-as-formalwear, etc. While I know that’s not the point – the point was to roll our eyes at Kate’s nouveau riche ways – I found myself rolling my eyes at the Daily Mail’s overblown way of trying to take her down. Kim Kardashian’s diet excludes sugar, sweets, cakes, crackers & white rice

Here are some photos of Kim Kardashian out and about on Friday in LA. This feels like the first time we’ve seen her in months without a long, butt-covering jacket or coat. That’s probably because she’s now lost so much of the pregnancy weight that she’s not afraid of photographers getting a few butt shots. While I respect her choice to not give the paps butt shots when she’s uncomfortable with her body, she’s got to know that she’s just driving up the price, right? Anyway, as Kim told us last week, she’s lost 42 pounds of the 70-pound weight loss goal she set for herself post-pregnancy. I think she looks good, as-is. Meaning, she looks comfortable at this weight and this is pretty much how she looked when she got pregnant with Saint West. But she still wants to lose more weight, and her nutritionist spoke to Glamour about Kim’s diet: Kim’s nutritionist, Colette Heimowitz, VP of nutrition and education at Atkins Nutritionals, chatted up Redbook and spilled. Kim, who’s losing about two pounds a week, is sticking to 1,800 calories a day—just right for a breastfeeding mama—says Heimowitz, and she chooses those calories carefully: Every meal includes protein, which she pairs with high-fiber foods (we love barley!) and healthy fats (olive oil, avocados). What she’s not eating: “Sugar, sweets, cakes, crackers, white flour, white rice.” One thing she’s not giving up? Cheese—just a little bit. Heimowitz told Redbook that Kim’s daily diet breaks down to: “four to six ounces of protein, four ounces of cheese, eight to 10 servings of veggies, and two tablespoons of added fat.” (“Added” fat doesn’t include the fat that’s already in the protein and cheese.) “The secret is [to] pick high-fiber carbohydrates that slow the release of sugar into the bloodstream,” Heimowitz told the mag. “[So] instead of white rice you have a little brown rice. Instead of a white potato you could have a yam. And [when you want] dessert, you can make one with Splenda instead of sugar.” [From Glamour] Atkins diets are always high in protein, as I think everyone knows by now, so it’s not a surprise that Kim includes protein in every meal. I feel like this cheese-specific diet was tailored for her though, which one would expect if one has an on-call nutritionist. Personally, I would rather give up cheese (gladly) for a baked potato every now and then. Besides that, I don’t really believe Kim has given up sugar, sweets, cakes, crackers, white flour and white rice. I think that’s what her nutritionist has told her to give up and Kim sneaks some cracked or a cupcake every so often. Like at a baby shower she hosted for Chrissy Teigen? Apparently, the baby shower food involved McDonalds and nachos. ❤️ A photo posted by chrissy teigen (@chrissyteigen) on Mar 26, 2016 at 5:53pm PDT Photos courtesy of Fame/Flynet.

Taylor Swift’s friends think she’s definitely going to get engaged to Calvin Harris

Here are some photos of Taylor Swift and Lorde out in West Hollywood on Friday night. This is the most I’ve liked Taylor’s bob – it works better when she pushes her bangs to the side, right? They went out to The Nice Guy, a popular hotspot for the young and wealthy. Lorde still isn’t old enough to drink in America, so I wonder what she does when Taylor is sipping cocktails? Anyway, Swifty has been in LA for much of the year, ever since her tour ended. What’s nice is that her boyfriend Calvin Harris has also been camped out in LA, where he also has a home. Things seem to be going pretty well for them – they celebrated their one-year anniversary with a nice vacation, and there are many, many rumors that Taylor is thinking about marrying him. According to Grazia (via The Belfast Telegraph): “Before meeting Calvin she’d completely sworn off men and was focusing on her career,” an insider told Britain’s Grazia magazine. “The last thing she wanted was to get involved with another high-profile man but they just clicked. This is the most secure Taylor has ever felt. It’s not been easy getting there after everything she’s been through with her previous boyfriends but Calvin has proved over the last year that he’s The One.” Calvin spending Christmas (Dec15) with Taylor’s family in Colorado “sealed the deal” for both the stars, the source added. The couple have recently enjoyed some time alone together when they jetted to a tropical location for a much-deserved break. Now the pair’s pals are gearing up for an engagement announcement, with the general feeling that Taylor and Calvin will undoubtedly be walking down the aisle at some point in the future. “It definitely feels like that’s where it’s headed, but who knows how they’d find the time to plan a wedding,” the source smiled. “They had to move mountains to make their holiday work and their hectic schedules are a challenging obstacle when it comes to finding time for each other. But for now, as far as friends are concerned it’s not a case of if, but when.” [From The Belfast Telegraph] I’m very interested in seeing what a Taylor Swift-Calvin Harris engagement would look like. I think her fans would be very surprised, especially since many of them treat Swifty like she’s still 17 years old and in need of “protection.” What would it mean for her fandom if Taylor really did get engaged and it was for real, because Taylor and Calvin truly adore each other and it’s a mature, adult relationship? Hm. Speaking of mature adults, Taylor and her brother Austin got into a crazy Easter egg war over the holiday, and Taylor posted the videos on her Twitter: Easter Egg Battles 2016@austinswift7 pic.twitter.com/Nv85oxoBQj — Taylor Swift (@taylorswift13) March 27, 2016 A devastating loss.@austinswift7 pic.twitter.com/ok021VmIEn — Taylor Swift (@taylorswift13) March 27, 2016 GROUND YOURSELF.@austinswift7 pic.twitter.com/mkUQYeto0i — Taylor Swift (@taylorswift13) March 27, 2016 Photos courtesy of Fame/Flynet.

Gwen Stefani: divorce was ‘the worst thing that can happen to me besides death’

Gwen Stefani has a long, extensive interview with LGBT publication Pride Source promoting her new album. She’s asked a lot of questions about her relationship with the gay community, and about being a woman in the male-dominated music industry. To be fair to Stefani, when she talks about her “gay friends” or about one of her sons potentially coming out, she’s asked specifically about that by the journalist, in those words. She’s not bringing it up out without context. The quotes from Stefani which are getting the most press were when she said that she would be “blessed” if one of her sons came out. Again, she was asked what she would do in this instance. Writer Chris Azzopardi knows how to get a good quote. Stefani was extremely chatty too; she said several times that she’s horrible at keeping secrets. She didn’t exactly dish the dirt on her relationship ending, she only described how hurt she was. She did suggest that she was having problems in her relationship around 2013 and frames it around her own personal spiritual journey, which she credits with giving her the tools to survive her divorce. On embarrassing her kids and her divorce I can’t talk about them because they’re gonna be 15 and like, “Mom, why did you say that? You’re embarrassing me!” I have to think a little bit about that now. But I just think… I don’t know how else to be. Everybody knows what happened to me. I got a divorce. It’s the worst thing that can happen to me besides death. Her divorce was devastating My whole life all I wanted to do was be a mother and a wife… In February (2015), my family fell apart. It was devastating. I didn’t know what to do. It was a real big secret, but as I just explained, I’m not good with that. I tried everything to fix it. By June (2015), I went into the studio and started writing. I was praying. I had already started on a spiritual journey when I got pregnant with Apollo (in 2013) that was sort of like, “Wow, really? I’m gonna be blessed with a baby… now?” That was a miracle. It just started me on this spiritual journey and thank God it started then because I was prepared when I had the tragedy. I had that nest of spirituality in me. On criticism of letting her boys paint their nails and dye their hair Of course everyone’s gonna have their perspective and their opinion, and I know what’s real and what’s honest and true, and that’s really all that matters to me and all that’s important. So, it doesn’t really bother me. As long as my boys are protected and happy and I’m spending quality time with them, whether it’s doing sports or doing nails, it really doesn’t matter. Q: “What would you say to one of your boys if they came out to you one day?” I would be blessed with a gay son. You know that I would feel blessed about that. I just want my boys to be happy and healthy, and I just ask God to guide me every day to be a good mother because it is not an easy job. I’ve been lucky enough to have such a blessed life. I’ve been able to travel the world and meet so many different kinds of people. And it doesn’t really matter if you’re gay, straight, whatever. There are good and bad people, and I would be happy. I just want my kids to be happy, and whatever journey God gives them is their journey. On how it’s better now for gay people growing up, she calls “The Danish Girl” “The Dutch Girl” I do know that it’s gotta be difficult to be the alternative, to not be the mainstream, or to be different, if you want to call it that. I feel like it’s less and less (like that) these days, and it’s hard for me to understand because it doesn’t seem different or weird or anything anymore because it just seems so normal to me. I just saw that movie… what was it… “The Dutch Girl”? “The Danish Girl”…? Yeah, “The Danish Girl.” I think what was so incredible about that movie was just – that was so long ago. I mean, can you imagine back then? Whoa. Now it feels like nothing anymore. [From Pride Source] Her heart’s in the right place, even if she comes across as rather ditzy at times. The entire interview is long and well worth reading if you’re interested in her at all. Stefani references God and feeling “blessed” multiple times, as she’s done in past interviews. She peppers so many religious references into the conversation that she sounds like she’s from the south. It makes me wonder if that’s Blake Shelton’s influence, because Stefani was raised Catholic in California. I’m a former Catholic too and in my experience we don’t bring up God that much in everyday conversation. As for the end of her relationship with Gavin Rossdale, she describes it as a tragedy and like a death, which she’s said before. Stefani claims that she has a confessional nature but she seems to be hinting around the details behind her divorce, like she’s trying to keep some things from the public but is just dying to tell us. She may be doing that with the lyrics to her songs. “Red Flag” is about a one-sided relationship imploding “Big mistake, red flags fly… you know how to blow up” while “Naughty” definitely seems to be about Rossdale. Read these lyrics, “You did it, and then you hid it…The naughty, naughty things you do. I think there’s something that you might perhaps forgot to say. Locked in the closet but it never goes away.” That closet line sounds telling right? This is What The Truth Feels Like is currently number one on Billboard’s Hot 200 charts. It’s Stefani’s first number one album. photos credit: WENN.com and FameFlynet

Jeremy Irons: ‘Abortion harms a woman – it’s a tremendous mental attack’

I went into Jeremy Irons’ Guardian interview only having read one quote, the quote about abortion. I thought I would just read the piece and pull the abortion-quote-block for context. But I can’t. Because this interview is BONKERS. While I definitely think Jeremy Irons is eccentric in a vastly terrible way – think of his comments on incest and gay marriage several years ago, or his thoughts on sexual harassment – I also sort of have to give him credit for putting it all out there. Most celebrities/actors would have some sense of self-awareness that their thoughts are terrible and should never be spoken out loud, especially to the Guardian. Irons does not have that sense of self-awareness, so at least we can openly discuss his on-the-record comments. You can read his full Guardian interview here. Some highlights: On his six homes & a castle: “I have developed a life which seems to need a relatively high income.” Marriage & Christianity: “Our society is based on a Christian structure. If you take those religious tenets away, then anything goes and it will become terrible – and you usually get into trouble. Adultery might be very nice, but finally it f–ks us up. And it f–ks up the structure of society. We don’t steal – well, some people do – because it makes life intolerable for everybody. Yes, you can be in love and raise a family wonderfully by not being married, but actually marriage does give us a strength, because it’s quite hard to get out of, and so it makes us fight more to keep it together. If divorce becomes dead easy – which it sort of has – then we don’t have that backup. Because, for everybody, relationships are hard.” Abortion harms women: “Take abortion. I believe women should be allowed to make the decision, but I also think the church is right to say it’s a sin. Because sin is actions that harm us. Lying harms us. Abortion harms a woman – it’s a tremendous mental attack, and physical, sometimes. But we seem to get that muddled. In a way, thank God the Catholic church does say we won’t allow it, because otherwise nobody’s saying that it’s a sin.” On Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn: “I think he might be the death knell. I love his idealism, but he’s not what I would call a politician. I think the Labour party is no longer fit for purpose. What we very, very, very strongly need is a not a party that represents the labour movement, but everyone who doesn’t like that we are governed, in effect, by global economics. We have to find an intelligent alternative to the Conservative ethos.” He doesn’t believe in interventionism. “It’s like genetic engineering. Everything is held in balance, whether good or not, by diverse internal forces. Syria deals with the opposition with great cruelty, but there are cruel people, as one sees from Isis, and you’re not going to remove that part of nature from those fanatics at that stage of their civilising development. Yet everybody – especially the Americans – seems to think the only way of life is theirs. Democracy? What the f–k does that mean? Freedom? What the f–k does that mean?” The US election: “[It signals] maybe the end of democracy. If democracy has become a gameshow where you vote for the one who makes you laugh most, or whatever, then we’re not worthy to have the vote”. [From The Guardian] There’s a lot to unpack and I’m not going to go beat by beat with Jeremy Irons. Let me just say that while I appreciate that he identifies as pro-choice, I do not appreciate that he uses the language of anti-choice advocates. If a woman feels psychological or even physical pain because of her abortion, the decision is still HER CHOICE. If a woman wants to say abortion is a sin, that is her choice too. But no man or woman gets to decide for all women what is and is not a “sin.” And let me tell you, the psychological and physical pain would be even more profound if the state forced women to carry unwanted pregnancies to term. Leo DiCaprio throws shade at politicians who don’t believe in ‘modern science’

Here are some photos of Leonardo DiCaprio in Japan this week to promote the Japanese premiere of The Revenant. Japan usually gets films several months later than America and Europe, so this is no big deal. And Leo has a lot of Japanese fans, and many of them literally dressed up as bears to see him in Tokyo. During the press conference for the film, Leo was asked about one of his signature issues: the environment, or more specifically, the reality and politics of climate change. His answer was pretty pointed, even though he didn’t specifically name names. Fresh from his Oscar-winning role in “The Revenant,” Leonardo DiCaprio suggested Wednesday that his upcoming documentary on climate change could help raise awareness about a phenomenon that some US presidential candidates reject. DiCaprio said one of the collaborators for the film to be released before the November election was Fisher Stevens, a producer of the 2010 Oscar-winning documentary “The Cove” about dolphin-killing in the small Japanese town of Taiji. “We’ve been travelling around the world documenting climate change,” DiCaprio told a press conference in Tokyo, adding they visited China, India and the North Pole and South Pole. Though he did not offer any names, he said some candidates seeking the highest US office are falling short in their environmental attitudes. “We should not have a candidate who doesn’t believe in modern science to be leading our country,” he said. “Climate change is one of the most concerning issues facing all humanity and the United States needs to do its part.” Republican front-runner Donald Trump said last year he did not believe in climate change, while his key rival Ted Cruz has dismissed it as “pseudo-scientific theory”. [From AFP] While it seems like his statement is actually pretty obvious, and that the overwhelmingly majority of people would agree, it actually IS being treated as a controversy in the conservative media. Because they would disagree with the fundamental idea that the president of the United States should believe/know that climate change is real, that all of this is really happening. It is SCIENCE, despite what a handful of oil-and-gas “scientists” want to tell the GOP. That’s what I never understood about the GOP side of this argument – if they want to say that we shouldn’t do anything about climate change, then argue that point. Don’t make it into an argument about whether climate change is real, because yes, then you do sound anti-science. And dumb. Photos courtesy of WENN.
