Duchess Kate wore buttery Emilia Wickstead for her Bhutan arrival: lovely?

Embed from Getty Images Look very carefully at these photos… I think someone finally convinced the Duchess of Cambridge to add weights to her hems!! These are pics from the Duke and Duchess’s arrival in Bhutan today. For the plane exit (which I’m sure counts as an event for these two), Kate decided to wear an Emilia Wickstead coatdress in a muted butter yellow. The dress costs $169, because of course it does. While it doesn’t look like it was very windy today in Bhutan, I still think that someone got through to Kate and finally, at long last, convinced her to take precautions with her hems. Now if we could only get her to stop slouching. After the arrival, Will and Kate joined the Dragon King and Queen for a special reception in Thimpu Dzong, and Kate changed into another outfit – you can see the ensemble here. She paired a £340 Paul and Joe blouse – with a built-in cape – with a long, straight skirt that looked somewhat traditional for Bhutan. That was fine, I think. But she paired the ensemble with her nude court shoes and it just looked ridiculous. Update: here’s video of Kate walking in that Bhutanese inspired outfit. Gwyneth Paltrow: Dill is for peasants, ‘it’s not really a food, it offends me’

Gwyneth Paltrow is still doing the promotional rounds to support It’s All Easy, her latest tedious and elitist cookbook. And as we’ve already covered, the promotion is Classic Goop, full of amazing throw-away judgments on food, cooking and how the peasants live and eat. Apparently, Gwyneth has a hate-on for dill. DILL. Of all things. Hating dill is like hating mustard: pointless. Gwyneth thinks dill is offensive. She also thinks microwaves are the devil, which we already learned this week. Her least favorite food: “I really don’t like dill. It’s not really a food, but it really offends me.” No microwaves: “I believe in old fashioned ways of heating things up. It’s really not so tough to put an oven on or gasoline steaming. It’s like five minutes.” No pre-made salads: “My philosophy is, it’s really easy to make your own salad at home. It’s cheaper, it’s healthier, you know what’s in it. I’ve had some great experiences with the grab-and-go salad, and some really, really terrible ones.” Getting her kids to eat healthier: “I really find if I put out lots of dipping sauces, or lettuce cups, or they’re filling things themselves or making tacos, they’re more involved. …They’ll eat more vegetables. My kids are pretty good at home. I try to keep the pantry pretty clean, but when we’re out in the world, it’s all Oreos and Cheez-Its and stuff like that, unfortunately.” [From ET] CHEEZ-ITS! I’ll admit, Cheez-Its and Oreos are not for me… usually. But then again, I have like five bags of discounted Easter candy in my house because I’m obsessed with chocolate-and-peanut-butter eggs. We all have our little food quirks, is my point. Gwyneth’s “dill is not really a food” quirk reminds me of one of my dad’s food quirks – my dad was always insistent that bacon was not a meal. One of his favorite food-related sayings was “bacon is a condiment.” As in, bacon should never be used as a stand-alone meal, but merely an accessory to a meal. Meanwhile, Gwyneth was asked again about her old quote about “I’d rather smoke crack than eat cheese from a can.” When asked if she still feels that way, Goop said: “Hell yes. You know, crack might be extreme, but spray cheese is not my kind of party.” Then this perfect tweet happened: Gwenyth Paltrow is affluenza's Patient Zero. https://t.co/zdtrzM8cYs — Samantha Bunten (@samanthabunten) April 12, 2016 Photos courtesy of Fame/Flynet.

Olivia Wilde on ‘Vinyl’ fashion: ‘People in the ’70s apparently didn’t have hips’

The last time we talked about Olivia Wilde she was discussing the merkin (pubic wig) which she has to wear for nude scenes on her HBO show, Vinyl, set in the 1970s. I was surprised at how many of you had strong feelings about that issue, particularly Olivia’s embarrassment at having a hirsute nether region, even temporarily. I don’t think she was saying that hair down there is hideous, just that she prefers more grooming in that area. To each their own. Some people like their hair long, some like it short. Now Olivia is discussing the fashion on Vinyl, specifically the real vintage clothing they wear. She’s representing H&M’s conscious collection, so that’s part of the reason she’s talking about this issue as well. “I’ll walk around with the wardrobe assistant saying, ‘I want that one, I want that one.’ I really have been so inspired by all the wardrobe across the board,” Wilde told PeopleStyle at the H&M Conscious Exclusive 2016 Collection event in N.Y.C., adding that not all looks work on her: “I can’t fit into any of the pants because people in the ’70s apparently just didn’t have hips. I guess that’s all the hormones in our food, but I don’t understand it. You pick up the jeans and they’re straight — there’s no butt and there’s no hips. They’re for a straight body.” The actress added that there’s also a 2016 pants trend she has trouble pulling off: Boyfriend jeans. “I try to wear the trend, but it always looks terrible, because I have really short legs,” she shared. “Almost everything we wear on the show is real vintage. And that’s a lot of effort on the part of our designer and on the part of the team,” she shared. “We have a whole kind of workshop to take real vintage items and fix them — because when you buy vintage you sometimes have to do a little bit of tailoring and cleaning. We should just be buying things that already exist as oppose to trying to mass produce everything new. Plus, it’s fun to buy things that have a story so that you can say this is a vintage Halston, a piece that has been around.” Wilde has also been going to vintage shops since she was 12, so she’s now a pro at repairing old clothes. “Now I know what to look for and know what to do when I see something that’s messed up. You can buy it, take it to a seamstress and it’s not that expensive fix it, clean it,” she shared. “It’s much cooler to have something that has history than to just buy something new.” Her passion for recycling old clothes makes her the perfect person to partner with H&M on its latest Conscious collection, hitting stores Thursday. Wilde starred in the campaign last year, and this year she’s continuing to spread the brand’s message of eco-friendly fashion. “We think that we’re going to sacrifice style in order to be sustainable, and that’s not true as this collection proves,” Wilde said. “That’s what I love about what H&M’s done this year and last year. They are really good at showing that you can wear a piece that doesn’t necessarily scream sustainability, but just happens to be taking advantage of this new innovation that they’re investing in. I think they’re very smart about the whole process and pioneers within this movement, which I didn’t necessarily know before. I think I connected H&M with my idea of what fast fashion meant to the world. I didn’t realize how much work they were putting in to changing that.” [From People] While it’s true that people in the 70s were smaller than they are now, I think that saying that they didn’t have hips is like saying women in the 50s had pointy boobs. Straight legs were just the style. Plus when you’re talking about vintage fashion, the stuff that’s left is whatever people haven’t bought yet so of course it’s the outlier sizes. I haven’t watched this show yet but I have to say that I love the vintage fashion on The Americans especially. It’s set in the early 80s and their coat p0rn is amazing. I recently read a book by a costume designer for television called How to Get Dressed. The author, Alison Freer, says that fit is key to looking polished, not following trends. She emphasizes tailoring, which is exactly what Wilde is saying here about shopping second hand. You can really see the work that goes into the clothing on television and that book gave me a newfound appreciation for thrift shopping. It must be a blast to get to dressed up in period fashion for your job. As long as it’s not a merkin. Embed from Getty Images photos credit: WENN.com, FameFlynet, Getty and Pacific Coast News

Melissa McCarthy Has a Message for Body Shamers

Melissa McCarthy recently showed off a 50-pound weight loss, but truth be told, she doesn’t really want to talk about it. “If that is the most interesting thing about me, I need to go have a lavender farm in Minnesota and give this up,” she told Refinery29. “There are so many more intriguing things about women than their butt or their this or their that. It can’t be the first question every time, or a question at all.” Regrettably, women today are still being scrutinized for their weight, and today, the actress took to Instagram to vent her frustration. She posted an image of a sign stuck to a mirror that reads, “WARNING: Reflections in this mirror may be distorted by socially constructed ideas of ‘beauty.'” Well said.  In the caption, she included her own poignant message: “We have to stop categorizing and judging women based on their bodies. We are teaching young girls to strive for unattainable perfection instead of feeling healthy and happy in their own skin. ‘Imagine we are linked not ranked.’ Gloria Steinem” Looks like she’s ready to start a conversation, or more likely, end the one that’s been going on for far too long.  The star is tired of women being valued solely for their bodies when they have so much more to offer. “We’re always being ranked and when we come together, you know, women are amazing together,” she said in a recent interview. “Women are friends. Women are not really competing with each other. I think everyone wants to make it seem that way with who wore it better, whose butt is better, whose glasses are crazier. I’ve never had any of those conversations in my life.” For the record, we are fans of everything Melissa has to offer, whether she’s cracking us up in film and TV, designing a fashion line or demonstrating her newfound skill: straight up killing it in a lip sync battle. Chris Evans: It’s a ‘bummer’ when ladies text me back right after we meet

I don’t remember covering these photos of Chris Evans from the Oscars, so here you go. Better late than never. Chris attended this year’s Oscars as a presenter, and he brought his sister Carly and his brother Scott as his dates. He even brought them to the Vanity Fair Oscar party (and Scott is HOT!). Chris is Boston born and bred and he’s always been pretty clear about what he’s looking for in a woman/girlfriend/wife: he wants a Boston girl. A Boston girl with some junk in the trunk. Back in 2012, he told Playboy that he likes “strange things” and “I like a good ass… I can say that? I like a big ass.” So, his obsession with ladies having some junk in the trunk has been documented over the years. Chris went on Anna Faris’ podcast this week and she got him to talk more about how he’s an ass man, whether he’s ever sent a dick pic and whether he likes it when girls text him right away. Chris Evans is a man that knows exactly what he likes. The actor stopped by Anna Faris’ podcast titled Anna Faris Is Unqualified, alongside comedienne Jenny Slate, when things took risqué turn and got candid very quickly. Anna asked Chris whether he’s more interested in T or A, and if he’s into being sent nude photos from ladies he’s romantically involved with. “I’m way more of an ass man, clearly,” he said while laughing on the program. “I like butts. I guess [I like] butt pics.” He also joked that while some may regret sending naked photos (security reasons aside), “nobody sends a bad dick pic…There’s always like a full photo shoot, like a four-hour photo shoot with filters,” he added without confirming (or denying, really) that he was speaking from experience. Anna chimed in by noting that she and hubby Chris Pratt used to send lovey dovey shots to one another, but “we try to be careful now about what we send each other.” Then, Anna quizzed Chris on his pickup game—take note, everyone. “Let’s say you meet a super hot girl at a bar. You feel like a nice connection with her and she’s really hot,” Anna began. “Would you give her your own number or your assistant’s [number]?” “I would probably ask for hers,” he answers. Nicely done, Chris. But he adds that too much communicating right out of the gate can be a bad thing. “Let’s say we met at 10, and I left the bar at 11 and I sent her a text at 11:30 saying, ‘Hey, it was great to meet you.’ And she responds, ‘Yeah, you too.’ And at 3 a.m. there’s another text [from her], right away it’s a little bit of a bummer.” [From E! News] So if you are a lady with some junk in the trunk and a Boston accent, and Chris Evans gets your digits, don’t text him back right away. Even if he’s sending you airbrushed dick pics and texting you just minutes after you’ve met. Do not text him right away. He likes “the hunt.” He likes mystery. He likes to be kept waiting. Just FYI. Also: what would you do if Captain America sent you a dick pic? While he’s not my favorite person or anything, I think even I would be into it. Truly. Photos courtesy of WENN.

Taylor Swift in a YSL jumpsuit at the iHeartRadio Awards: try-hard or cute?

I could post 50 photos of Taylor Swift’s pose-harding at the iHeartRadio Awards last night and each photo would make me laugh. It’s not that her outfit or her styling looked ridiculous, it’s just that she was taking the posing SO seriously. She was posing her ass off on this carpet and it was amazing. She really wanted the photographers to get her Saint Laurent Fall 2016 jumpsuit from every angle, especially the butt shots. As for the Saint Laurent jumpsuit … while Taylor has a great figure, I feel like this is sort of unflattering on her. I would have loved to see her in something else from Saint Laurent, like one of the more menswear-inspired looks. Taylor was joined at the awards show by her BFF Selena Gomez and her (Taylor’s) boyfriend Calvin Harris, also known as Adam Wiles. While Calvin and Tay didn’t walk the carpet together, they did sit together and Taylor did thank him during one of her many trips up to the stage to collect her awards, saying: “For the first time, I had the most amazing person to come home to when the spotlight went out and when the crowds were all gone. So I want to thank my boyfriend Adam for that.” Taylor took home awards for Best Tour, Best Female Artist and Album of the Year. Calvin took home the award for Dance Artist of the Year. Taylor also said something about how this was her last awards show for a while. Sure. She’s probably going to spend the spring and summer planning her wedding!!!
