On not drinking alcohol ever: I don’t drink alcohol. I feel [its effects] very quickly, so I’ve never actually had an entire glass of anything alcoholic. On her celebrity morning routine: I basically wake up, eat breakfast, and then work out. I prefer to get it done in the morning. That said I don’t naturally get up early. It would be much better for me if the entire world went to bed at 4 am and woke up at noon. But it doesn’t, so I’m usually staggering around first thing. On her favorite workouts: Hard-core workouts have really made a big difference in my life. I have a lot of internal energy, and intense exercise helps me channel that energy. I find balance by doing a workout that makes me pour sweat. I never was that girl before, but I am now. I do circuit training interspersed with brutal cardio, such as crazy things on a nonmotorized treadmill. That part is torture. But the thing I like about circuit training is that you’re never doing one thing for very long. You get to the point where you almost can’t bear it, and it changes to something else. … says 43 year-old Kate. More photos inside! Last week, the second full-length trailer for Bridget Jones’s Baby dropped. I didn’t cover it because A) I didn’t think people would care and B) I found the second trailer even more depressing than the first trailer. While I am excited to see Renee Zellweger return to a celebrated and beloved role, as I see more of the plot, my excitement dies a little bit. I just think baby-daddy hijinks for a woman in her mid-to-late 40s is a bit much, honestly. Out of all the plot lines, they chose that? I understand that they’re basing it off Helen Fielding’s columns, but maybe they shouldn’t have waited so many years to make this one? Here’s the second trailer: So, yes, I have some complaints. At the heart of those complaints is just plain old disappointment though: the first Bridget Jones movie is as close to perfect as possible. It is arguably one of the greatest romantic comedies of all time. Renee was so good in it that she got an Oscar nom! But 15 years later, we’re getting this mess. And when one critic – Variety’s Owen Gleiberman – expressed his disappointment, he got into a world of trouble. Gleiberman wrote a piece called “Renee Zellweger: If She No Longer Looks Like Herself, Has She Become a Different Actress?” You can read the piece here. It’s supposed to be a “think-piece” about how Zellweger has changed her face so drastically that she’s no longer believable as Bridget Jones, and this guy is personally offended by that. He goes on at length about the pressures of society, and how Zellweger used to be pretty in a normal, believable, girl-next-door sort of way but now she doesn’t look like herself because of her very noticeable plastic surgery and he just goes on and on about it. So, obviously, Owen Gleiberman got slammed all over the place for being sexist and ageist. If we’re saying that this dude never would have written a long-winded, body-policing think-piece about how Russell Crowe is no longer believable as a leading man because of how HE looks and how HE is ageing, I can see that point, and I agree with it. That is sexist and ageist if we’re just going to go on and on about only the actresses. But… I also think that Gleiberman had a (albeit minor) point? If actors and actresses want to drastically change their looks through plastic surgery, so be it. Live and let live, and your body, your choice. But of course people are going to comment. And some of us even made similar comments when we first saw the set photos of Renee-as-Bridget, that “she doesn’t even look like Bridget” and “why does she look so different?” Of course none of us wrote long-winded hot-take think-pieces for Variety analyzing all of the many ways in which her face disappoints us personally. Why is it odd for Renée Zellweger to look slightly different than she did 15 years ago, but not odd for Kate Beckinsale to look identical? — Daniel Fienberg (@TheFienPrint) July 2, 2016 @Variety It's called aging, any by the way, everyone is doing it. We aren't helping women become stronger by pointing out their ages… — Trevor Jordan (@VampirePangs) July 1, 2016 Dear @Variety and @OwenGleiberman .. What a load of sexist GARBAGE. Irina Shayk & Bradley Cooper went to the Met Gala & after-parties together, but no one cared. [Moe Jackson] This New York blind item is juicy but I have no guesses. Literally, none. [LaineyGossip] That Amy Schumer fan is getting death threats now. [Dlisted] Diane Von Furstenberg’s butterfly headpiece is sort of cool. [Go Fug Yourself] Teen Mom 2 is coming back for another season. [Starcasm] Radiohead’s new song, “Burn the Witch.” [The Blemish] The Mindy Project was renewed for a Season 5. [Buzzfeed] A Real Housewife named Brandi is feuding with someone named LeeAnne. [Reality Tea] A contrarian opinion about the end of Game of Thrones’ Episode 6.2. [Pajiba] Demi Lovato & Nicki Minaj are sort of feuding. [Jezebel] Kate Beckinsale’s hair looks terrible at this event. [Popoholic] I don’t get the Kardashian-Jenner obsession with chokers. People are still talking about Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux’s appearance at the Critics’ Choice Awards. Personally, I think the awfulness of her Saint Laurent dress is totally a two-day story, but there are other moments to discuss. Like, Jennifer wasn’t just there as the wife of a nominee – Justin also got to present an award alongside Liv Tyler. And when he was on stage, Jennifer couldn’t see him, so she ordered someone to “MOVE!” Jen Aniston doesn't like it when she can't see her hunky hubby #movebytch #getoutdaway >> https://t.co/wtPNL4bpdW — Reel Deel D (@s3nsitiv3_D) January 18, 2016 Not only that, but Jennifer seemed to have a bizarre reactions to Kate Beckinsale walking on stage. What’s up with this? Kate’s dress is clearly better than Jennifer’s sad bust ruffle and center seam. Or is Jennifer making a face about Kate’s light Botox? Because Jennifer shouldn’t even start. #JenniferAniston doesn't seem to like #KateBeckinsale's dress?? #CritcsChoiceAwards WTF pic.twitter.com/qqrcke8mGh — Ethan Van Sciver (@EthanVanSciver) January 18, 2016 But the real story might be that Jennifer rolled up to the Critics’ Choice Awards with two burly bodyguards in tow. Per Roger Friedman’s column: Jennifer Aniston– who came with husband Justin Theroux, nominated for “The Leftovers,” brought two burly security guards, just in case one of the celebrities got in her face. They stopped anyone from getting near her or taking a picture. Will Forte provided the overt comic relief with his half-shaven head, went over to Jen and posed for a picture, to which Jen quipped to the photographer, “Please fix his hair, while you’re at it, fix mine.” The bodyguards did serve an unwitting purpose however. The blocked the view between Paulson-Taylor and Paulson’s ex, the great theater actress Cherry Jones, known to TV audiences from “24.” Ouch. [From Showbiz411] If you’re going to argue that Jennifer needs bodyguards for her personal safety in general, sure. I don’t have a problem with that, and God knows what kinds of threats or craziness she gets. But it seems like Jennifer rolled up to a pretty low-key celebrity event and used her bodyguards to “protect” her from OTHER CELEBRITIES. Like, Sarah Paulson was going to fan-girl over Aniston and it was just going to be too much. And since Friedman noted it in this way, doesn’t it seem like Aniston was the only person there with bodyguards in tow? It’s less about safety and more like she didn’t want to interact with certain people, I guess? Photos courtesy of WENN.
