Is 25-year-old Jennifer Lawrence dating 47-year-old Darren Aronofsky?

Back in January, Jennifer Lawrence was confirmed for a role in Darren Aronofsky’s next film, which is still untitled. The film is about “a couple whose relationship is tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home, disrupting their tranquil existence.” Aronofsky has written the script and he will direct it too. The film is either filming already, or it will be soon. Aronofsky was famously Rachel Weisz’s partner and baby-daddy for years, until she dumped him and married Daniel Craig. He then began seeing a Canadian woman named Brandi-Ann Milbradt, although I think that ended a few years back, maybe? I can’t find anything about her recently. And Jennifer Lawrence has been single-ish since her breakup with Chris Martin, although I think it’s more than possible that she went on some dates with Aziz Ansari. So… two single people, on a film set. What could go wrong? Jennifer Lawrence is Darren Araonofsky’s leading lady – in more ways than one! A source tells In Touch that J-Law, 25, is secretly dating the 47-year-old director, an Oscar nominee who has a son with his ex Rachel Weisz. “It started when they were in early discussions about the project. They began flirting, and soon they were hooking up. Now it’s getting serious,” says the source, adding that everyone on the set of the film (which is currently untitled) is buzzing about the romance. “Jennifer and Darren think they’re being sneaky, but it’s all anyone can talk about!” [From In Touch Weekly, print edition] Even though it’s In Touch, it would not surprise me if this was true. Aronofsky has a thing for his leading ladies, and there were always rumors that even while he was with Rachel Weisz, he had a thing with at least one other actress. I have no idea if that’s true, let me be clear. But there were always whispers. As for Jennifer… I feel like she settles sometimes? Not with Nicholas Hoult, obviously, because he’s adorable and I think they genuinely loved each other. But I think J-Law gets lonely and she just goes for whomever is available. Oh, and it also wouldn’t surprise me if 25-year-old J-Law had a thing with a 47-year-old director. I’m honestly surprised that hasn’t happened already. Here are some photos of J-Law out and about in NYC this week. You know who else lives in NYC? Darren Aronofsky! DUN DUN DUN. Photos courtesy of WENN, Fame/Flynet.

Garry Shandling has passed away at the age of 66

Garry Shandling passed away on Thursday, March 24, in Los Angeles at just 66 years old. Shandling was one of the most beloved and influential comedians of his generation, with a dry, deadpan wit and a penchant for observational humor. He was well-regarded, respected and adored within the acting and comedic communities. He was most famous for his two popular and Emmy-winning shows, The Larry Sanders Show (where he played a late-night talk show host) and the It’s Garry Shandling’s Show. You can see his IMDB here. I had actually forgotten that he was still getting acting work – he’s been in a handful of Marvel movies over the past few years. Shandling had recently been diagnosed with a hyper parathyroid gland, which he discussed on his last episode of Jerry Seinfeld’s Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee. He apparently collapsed at his LA home on Thursday, then he was rushed to the hospital, which is where he passed away. Many are talking about Shandling’s appearance on that Seinfeld show – it’s an episode called “Isn’t It Great That Garry Shandling Is Still Alive” and you can watch it here. Twitter and the late-night shows were full of tributes to Shandling. Here are just a few along. RIP Garry Shandling and thank you for all the laughs. Beatrice Casiraghi wore Giambattista Valli to the Rose Ball: amazing or tragic?

The Grimaldis celebrated one of their biggest annual events over the weekend. Every year, Prince Albert hosts the Rose Ball, a huge fundraiser for the Princess Grace Foundation, one of the Grimaldis’ big charitable organizations. The Rose Ball is a huge deal. So is it weird that Princess Charlene didn’t come out for it? I’ve been saying that Charlene and Albert seem a lot stronger now that they’ve got an heir and a spare (Gabrielle and Jacques), but it also feels like Charlene skips out on a lot of stuff now that she’s got the babies as an excuse to not be around. So, at this year’s Rose Ball, Albert’s sister Princess Caroline acted as hostess, and her children came out. Andrea and his wife Tatiana were there, as were the rest of her kids: Pierre Casiraghi and his new wife Beatrice, Charlotte Casiraghi (who was also missing her partner, Gad), and Princess Alexandra of Hanover, who is Caroline’s youngest child, the only child Caroline had with Ernst August of Hanover. Caroline and Ernst are pretty much separated full time – I don’t think he’s ever in Monaco, and he seems to live with a succession of mistresses all around the world. Just FYI. As for the fashion, Caroline, Charlotte and Alexandra all wore Chanel. Karl Lagerfeld is particularly close to the Grimaldis, and he often dresses the royal women. I personally like that Charlotte went with a caped pantsuit, it looks daring and modern on her, although the silk satin is slightly budget for Chanel. The big show-stopped look came from Beatrice Casiraghi, who married Pierre last summer in a lavish, multi-nation extravaganza. Beatrice is Italian, so she chose to wear an Italian designer: Giambattista Valli. Her gown with big, frothy and red. I actually like the big-ball-gown look, and my only real qualm is that with all of that old-money and glamour, her wispy bangs still look kind of awful. Photos courtesy of Pacific Coast News.

Willow Smith, 15, is Chanel’s latest brand ambassador: great choice or meh?

Back in 2010, Jada and Will Smith seemed hellbent on forcing their kids to act like adults and have adult-sized careers. Willow began a music career, and Jaden began an acting career. While Jaden has continued with his public life, Willow has spent much of the past five years or so taking a step back. Reportedly, she was the one to tell her dad that she just “wanted to be a kid” for a while rather than a celebrity/singer/model/whatever. Well, now at the tender age of 15, Willow is re-entering public life. These photos are of Willow and Jada at the Chanel show during Paris Fashion Week this week. Willow and Jada were invited to sit front-row at the show because Willow is now the newest face of Chanel, as she has just been named the latest “brand ambassador” for 2016. Willow joins a long list of famous Chanel brand ambassadors, including at various times Blake Lively, Gig Hadid, Lily-Rose Depp, Kendal Jenner, Cara Delevingne, etc. I actually think it’s smart to start diversifying the ambassadors these days, so at least there’s that. The Chanel press release simply read: “Karl Lagerfeld has chosen Willow Smith as a new CHANEL ambassadress.” Personally, I don’t hate it (but I don’t love it either). It’s not as offensive to me as Jaden Smith being hired to front a campaign for Louis Vuitton womenswear, mostly because I am unclear as to whether Willow will actually be doing print ads for Chanel. I think brand-ambassadors just have to wear Chanel to big events and go to like two runway shows a year. But if Willow’s growth spurt tells us anything, it’s that she might make modeling her newest career. Incidentally, Willow is wearing a Chanel catsuit/wetsuit in these photos. She looks like a superhero! I absolutely loathe the shoes and the eye makeup though. Photos courtesy of Fame/Flynet.

Is Garner competing with Affleck to see who can get the most publicity?

Jennifer Garner timed her Vanity Fair cover so that it came out on the Friday right before the Oscars. The last time she was at the Academy Awards was in 2014 when she was a presenter, and Affleck was her date. (That was the year following his 2013 win for Best Picture, for Argo.) This year she was a presenter again and she flew solo. So she wanted people to know about it, so she got some publicity ahead of the Oscars. It’s also interesting to me that Garner’s publicity blitz for her Christian movie, Miracles from Heaven, out March 16th, comes as Affleck is furiously trying to promote Batman v. Superman, out March 25th. Warner Brothers is said to be running scared because Deadpool changed the entire superhero genre with an insanely successful dirty, funny R-Rated movie made on a $58 million budget. Batman v. Superman is an old school dark superhero movie that looks like it takes itself too seriously. It may also end up being the most expensive movie ever made. Just a few months ago we heard that the production budget was up to $410 million. So there’s a lot riding on Batman v. Superman, including Affleck’s career. He wrote it after all. You get the sense that Garner is trying to steal his thunder, which I don’t blame her for. It’s clever, she’s not being openly disparaging of him despite the digs she got in during her interview and she’s getting her side of the story out there. Radar claims that Affleck’s team is livid about her VF interview because Garner confirmed that Affleck was with the nanny – even though she tried to soften the blow by saying they were separated at the time. They quote a source who claims Affleck and his team are “furious,” but that he “can’t do anything until after his movies come out.” He also has Live by Night slated for release, but Radar is wrong, it’s not out until 2017. So maybe that’s all conjecture, but it’s hard to see how Affleck’s people would sign off on Garner’s VF interview. In the latest news about these two, Affleck has a contest through Omaze which offers a ride in the Batman to the film’s premiere to a random person who donates to his charity, The Eastern Congo Initiative. He visited Warner Brothers Studio tour and surprised fans with a ride in The Batmobile. You can see that video here, it was actually really cute. Meanwhile Vanity Fair has released a video of Jennifer Garner reading Go The F-k To Sleep in her saccharine sweet way. This book came out in 2011 and yet another celebrity reading it seems hackneyed. I really do get the impression that she’s competing with him now, and that she’s going to show him that she can fight back and come out of it smelling like roses. Iggy Azalea: ‘I’m not going to suddenly start rapping about political matters’

This is the second five-page, intensive, wordy magazine interview I’ve read in the past 24 hours. Tina Fey was worth it – Iggy Azalea is not. Iggy covers the new issue of Elle Canada and she looks like a sad Barbie doll in the editorial. While she freely admits that she’s had work done – and sure, I’m happy that she admits it – I still don’t understand why she’s messed with her face to this extent. She was pretty before all of this. Anyway, Iggy is about to release her new album, Digital Distortion. And she’s trying to rebrand herself in ways beyond her new face. In this Elle interview, she even comes close to sounding regretful. You can read the full piece here. She’s back on social media after a self-imposed hiatus: “I’m back. But this time I’ve given myself some rules so I don’t get too sucked in again. For me, what happened, not just on social media but with everything in my career, was like a whirlwind. I started to feel like I was losing control over my own life… I even think back to the Papa John’s incident and ask myself ‘Why did that piss you off so much?’ I see now that it spiralled into something so quickly because I felt like I didn’t have any power over my own life. At that point, I needed to take some time, step away and just get that control back.” Her fraught relationship with the hip-hop community: “So many people think that I don’t care about rap music and the community, but I absolutely care about it, to the core of my being. That’s why the Q-Tip incident annoyed me so much: Why do you think I need a history lesson? Because surely if I did know anything about hip hop, I wouldn’t mix pop and rap together? Or I wouldn’t rap in an American accent if I truly understood? I just have a different perspective about rap music. I love learning about hip hop, I love reading about it and I actually love having debates with other people about it.” Whether there are valid criticisms aimed at her: “Do you not like me because I rap with an American accent and I’m not American? Well, that’s valid on some level because that’s your opinion and I can’t change that. But I’m not trying to sound black—I just grew up in a country where on TV and in music and film, everyone was American or any Australian person in them put on an American accent. So I never saw it as strange at all. And I think it’s hard for Americans to understand this because, when you look at the entertainment industry, American culture is the dominating culture across the globe. A lot of people say ‘Imagine if someone rapped with a fake Australian accent.’ Well, okay, but you don’t turn on the TV and hear American people with fake Australian accents, so I don’t think it’s a fair comparison. I grew up watching Nicole Kidman speaking with an American accent in every movie. Even Keith Urban sings with an American country accent. And that’s just what you have to do to make it in this industry and be accepted. It’s what I heard and it’s what I saw, so how can you not understand that that would be influential for me?” The racial part of the conversation: “It’s black culture and black music, so it becomes a racial conversation—versus Keith Urban, who is making country music, which is considered white. It becomes a very muddy area. And it became especially difficult in 2015. The United States has such a fraught history with race, and I don’t think I realized how prevalent racism still is and how hurt people still are until I moved here and saw it for myself. As I was growing up in Australia, it was easy to think ‘Well, that was then and obviously it’s not like that now.’ It’s not something you can understand when you’re on the other side of the world. But many people think I still live in that bubble and that I don’t understand that the United States is set up in a way that doesn’t benefit minorities. I’ve lived here for 10 years now, and I don’t want it to be that way either. I’m marrying a black man, and my children will be half black—of course I care about these things. And I understand if you’re not comfortable that I rap with an American accent, and you are totally entitled to your own opinions, but you don’t have to listen to my music. I’m still going to keep making music.” Her future goals in music: “I think it’s important for music to reflect what is going on socially and for there to be those kinds of voices within the industry. But I want to be that person you can listen to for four minutes and not think about that stuff at all, and it’s important to have that too…. I’m not going to suddenly start rapping about political matters; it’s just not what I do. There are other great people who do that, like Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole. I’m not here to offer that commentary, but that doesn’t mean I don’t care. I don’t think everyone has to be everything—like, does Katy Perry have to start making songs about politics? I think it’s good to still be able to have a little fun.” Her plastic surgery: “I think, in 2016, people should be more accepting of the fact that both famous and non-famous women are having cosmetic procedures. That’s just the reality. And I think more people need to admit that sh-t so it doesn’t have to be so taboo—because we’re all doing it anyway. I wanted to change my nose because I didn’t grow up with a bump on it—that happened when I got smashed in the face with a soccer ball when I was 16. Now I feel like my nose looks the way it’s supposed to look. But for how long do we have to acknowledge that I got a nose job? For the rest of my life?… There’s nothing black and white about beauty or plastic surgery. There are no guarantees that it will fix how you feel about yourself. All of those women [who criticize someone for having surgery]—if they had $10 million in their account tomorrow, I’d dare them not to change one thing about themselves or at least think about it. Yes, there are some women who wouldn’t change a thing, but, for the majority of us, we’d be thinking about that one thing. And there’s nothing wrong with that. I just hope that in 25 years the conversation will shift to where if a woman wants to change her body, all we say is ‘Good for her!’ instead of shaming her for making decisions about her own body.” [From Elle Canada] G—damn it, I found myself agreeing with her at several points in this interview. Do I still think she’s a culturally appropriating douchebag? Sure. But I also see her point – to a certain extent – about how American culture dominates across the world, and how that affected how she raps. Does that explain everything? No, of course not. I also think she should be forgiven for everything involving Azealia Banks, because those moments were not actually about Black Lives Matter or any serious conversation, it was about how Iggy and Azealia absolutely despise each other. Jennifer Lawrence: ‘The most damaging term we have’ is ‘post-feminist era’

Embed from Getty Images Here are some photos of Jennifer Lawrence at two pre-Oscar events in the past two days. As I keep saying, J-Law has been really good about not oversaturating the media with photos and interviews in the past few months. She was everywhere last year, and after she got her fourth Oscar nomination, she proceeded to not campaign for it at all. But she’s still J-Law, and she’s still the biggest star of her generation, and she’s still one of the biggest deals in Hollywood, so that’s why she came out for some events for Oscar weekend. First, the fashion. For last night’s Women In Film pre-Oscar cocktail party, Jennifer wore this absolutely awful Dior ensemble – the white jacket over what looks like an enlarged black fishnet dress. This should totally be considered a preview of things to come, because I’m sure she’s contractually obligated to wear Dior at the Oscars. And it might be bad. I think Dior is making gowns especially for J-Law, so maybe it won’t be THIS bad. I’m also including photos of Jennifer at that Dinner for Equality event two nights ago. She decided to forgo the Dior and went with Naeem Khan velvet pants and an embellished top. I would have enjoyed this more if the embellished top was a full-on dress. At the Dinner for Equality event, J-Law made some prepared remarks around pay equality (the event was co-hosted by Patricia Arquette, whose comments you can read here). J-Law said, in part: “It’s weird being a public figure talking about all of this stuff because you put a target on your nose. When I wrote that essay I got a lot of support but I also have a Republican family in Kentucky who told me my career was effectively over.” Lawrence said it’s vital to shed the notion that we live in a post-feminist era. “I don’t know who came up with that term, but it’s the most damaging term that we have, because it’s just not true.” [Via Variety] For what it’s worth, the Dinner for Equality event seemed like a very substantive discussion. At the Dinner for Equality event, they had feminist male allies from major studios talking about the importance on internal audits within studios to insure that women are being paid fairly and equally to their male counterparts. J-Law also said some words at the WIF event about pay equality: Embed from Getty Images Embed from Getty Images Embed from Getty Images Photos courtesy of Getty.
