Kelly Ripa ‘livid’ Michael Strahan left without telling her, she hasn’t returned

Michael Strahan has co-hosted Live! with Kelly Ripa for nearly four years now. Kelly has been on the show for fifteen, since Kathy Lee Gifford left and she co-hosted with Regis Philbin, who retired in 2011. (He’s still kicking at 84, I just checked.) So you would think that Kelly would be one of the first people to learn that her longterm co-host was leaving the show to join Good Morning America. According to outlets including TMZ, E!, and People that wasn’t the case and Ripa found out via a memo to the entire network like everyone else. No one at her workplace, not even Strahan, gave her a heads up and she was understandably “livid.” According to E! Strahan couldn’t tell Ripa because network execs told him not to. About an hour after LIVE! With Kelly and Michael aired Tuesday, an internal memo at ABC revealed he would be leaving the show by summer’s end to work on Good Morning America full-time. His co-host, Kelly Ripa, did not receive a heads up. In fact, E! News has learned that executives broke the news to her just after the show finished taping—around the same time everyone else first heard about it. “She was livid,” a source says exclusively. “It wasn’t pretty.” Strahan joined Ripa and others in the meeting. “He wanted to be there. He didn’t have to be, but he didn’t want to have her hear it and not be there,” the source says. “He tried to do the stand up thing.” Strahan, who replaced Regis Philbin in 2012, has been a correspondent on ABC’s Good Morning America since 2014. When executives decided to move him to the news show full-time, they intentionally kept Ripa and others key staff members in the dark to prevent leaks. “That was a network decision,” the source says, adding that it was a carefully executed plan. “It wasn’t an overnight decision and took some time to put it in place.” Strahan didn’t have a say in the matter. “He’s not the boss,” the source tells E! News. “He is an employee of the network.” [From E! Online] That’s a weak excuse that network execs they were worried about leaks. They could have at least told Kelly, that would have only been fair. People confirms E!’s version of events and adds that Kelly “went crazy.” TMZ is reporting that while it’s true that Strahan was under orders not to tell Ripa, “Kelly and Michael don’t get along” and Ripa feels like “he’s disrespectful to her and is full of himself.” In an earlier story, TMZ revealed that ABC is considering canceling Live and adding a third hour to Good Morning America, which is facing stiff competition from The Today Show. Ripa did not host Live! on Wednesday and was replaced by Ana Gasteyer. Sources tell US Magazine that Ripa took a sick day. Strahan had some nice things to say about her, and about his time on Live, at the end of the show, but who knows if he’s paying lip service. People has a source close to Strahan who says that “He very much wanted to do the right thing” by telling “her in person and [giving] her months notice” but that he couldn’t. Strahan is said to be “hurt by her reaction” and “the very public way she’s handling this.” Their source added “You can’t not show up for work. If you’re going to have a meltdown you don’t do it publicly.” It’s not public! Kelly didn’t show up for work. She didn’t tweet or Instagram anything. She may have gotten mad at work but she didn’t make her response public, she just took time off, as is her right. It looks like this show is about to get canceled and like they put off telling Ripa until it was absolutely necessary. People is reporting that it’s unknown when Kelly will return to the show. A source tells them that Kelly plans to stay out this entire week. Additional stories have come out stating that Kelly is on a 20th anniversary vacation with her family and husband, Mark Consuelos, in Turks and Caicos. Apparently the trip was planned already and she was supposed to be out on Friday and Monday, but left early when she was blindsided by the news of Strahan leaving the show. photos credit: WENN.com

Farrah Abraham: Sophia’s Opening Her Own Fashion Boutique!

Sophia Abraham is one business-savvy seven-year-old. While her mom Farrah Abraham makes a business of pissing people off at every turn, the little girl is getting ready to open up her own fashion boutique. “What I’m most proud of is Sophia is really into fashion,” Farrah told People magazine. “She’s opening up her own Sophia Laurent boutique store in Austin, Texas,” the Teen Mom OG star announced. “She’s mentioned in New York Fashion Week. She’s in children model magazines.”  “I’m so proud of Sophia and that doesn’t even really impact her real life. She’s just been so successful on her own so that’s just awesome to me.” Mama bear makes it sound as though Sophia is doing all this on her own, and that Farrah’s not pulling the strings at all. We’re trying to envision Sophia in a power suit negotiating with venture capitalists, but it kinda sounds like a poorly scripted Nickelodeon show. In February, Farrah took her daughter to New York Fashion Week. Sophia looked adorable but some fans criticized her mom for allowing her to wear makeup at such a young age. “This is Sophia’s first Fashion Week,” Farrah Abraham told Us Weekly. Due to a late flight, the tot was unable to walk in the Bound by the Crown fashion show, but she was able to score a front row seat and wear an outfit designed by Game of Crowns star Susanna Paliotta. We wish Sophia the best of luck in her new venture. View Slideshow: “Momager” Farrah Abraham Parades Sophia Around Fashion Week

Eva Mendes, 42, and Ryan Gosling, 35, are expecting their second child

Well surprise surprise. Even though the tabloids would have you believe that Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling’s relationship is in tatters because he’s obviously got eyes for Emma Stone, the truth of the matter seems to be that Ryan and Eva are totally fine. So fine that she’s pregnant again! Eva Mendes has another bun in the oven! Multiple sources confirm exclusively to Us Weekly that the actress and her longtime boyfriend, Ryan Gosling, are expecting their second child together. According to a source, the mom of daughter Esmeralda, 17 months, was spotted hiding her burgeoning bump during a photo shoot in Los Angeles in February. In an October 9 interview on the Today Show, Mendes, 41, revealed that she’s taking a break from Hollywood to focus on her family. “If I’m even like, ‘Oh, what should I wear? Or, should I do this project? All I have to think about is my daughter and her face, and I know the answer immediately,” the Lost River actress said. “She’s my moral compass in a way.” [From Us Weekly] People Magazine seems to be confirming the news, and the Daily Mail has the photos of Eva “hiding her bump” here. It’s a lot like the Blake Lively thing earlier this week – Eva just looks knocked up even though we can’t really see a bump. What surprises me more than anything is that Eva is 42 years old… officially, although there’s always been gossip about how she’s shaved a few years off. And she seemingly got knocked up without any fertility treatment drama. Granted, we don’t know for sure, but it seems like she just wanted another baby and she got pregnant pretty quickly. Anyway, congrats to Eva and Ryan! Photos courtesy of Fame/Flynet.

Eva Mendes & Ryan Gosling: Expecting Second Child!

Congratulations are in order for Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling. The couple are expecting their second child together, according to Us Weekly, which reported that “multiple sources” have confirmed the news. Thus far, there’s no word on how far along she is in her pregnancy or the sex of the baby. Mendes has been taking a break from the spotlight, so there’s not even a pic of the bump to comment on. The genetically blessed couple have been dating since 2011, after they met on the set of The Place Beyond the Pines. They welcomed their first baby, Esmerelda Amada, in 2014. During Mendes’ first pregnancy, the pair kept the baby news secret for some time. But the laws of basic biology eventually precluded them from hiding it for too long. Now that little Esmerelda is here, the couple couldn’t be happier. “She and Ryan are just in awe of this beautiful person they created,” a source close to Mendes told People. “It’s a really special time for them.” And while breakup rumors have flitted about as they do with every celebrity couple, Gosling has done nothing but gush over his longtime love. “I know that I’m with the person I’m supposed to be with,” he told HELLO! last  December. When asked what he looks for in a mate, he gave a response that left half the female population in a mournful search for Ben & Jerry’s and Xanax. “That she’s Eva Mendes,” Gosling said. “There’s nothing else I’m looking for.” And that’s a freaking leading man for you. Jennifer Lopez: Dancers are better in bed, ‘musicians are too self-absorbed’

Jennifer Lopez’s W Magazine profile just gave me the perfect term for why I love her so much: she is “the people’s diva.” Like, the people’s princess, only in multi-hyphenate diva form. Anyway, I sort of hate Jennifer’s W Magazine editorial – you can see the slideshow here. It’s sort of awful, and they made Jennifer wear a terrible blonde mullet wig in half the pics. As for the interview, it’s longer than most W Mag profiles. It reads like a day-in-the-life piece, and Jennifer is really, really busy. You can read the full piece here, and here are some highlights: The people’s diva: “I’ve been in the grind and the game for a long time. At a certain point, people respect you when they see you fall down and get back up. The more you’re in this life, the more they celebrate your triumphs. When it comes to work, I never get tired. But with personal failures, I have thought, This is too hard. When my marriage ended, it was not easy to find forgiveness. It wasn’t the dream that I had hoped for, and it would have been easier to fan the flames of resentment, disappointment, and anger. But Marc is the father of my children [8-year-old twins], and that’s never going away. So, I have to work to make things right. And that is, by far, the hardest work I do.” She’s fine-boned: “When I first came to Los Angeles, someone told me I would be a star because of my tiny ankles and wrists. They said that was the key to it all.” She’s constantly being swarmed by fans: “It’s been like that since Selena. I never thought about fame until then. After that film, I would have panic attacks. I remember walking down the street, and someone yelled, ‘Jennifer!’ and I didn’t know who it was. I ran home. From that point forward, I realized I couldn’t be alone in public. I don’t think I’ve been alone on the street in over 20 years.” Who is better in bed: “Last time I was here, they asked me who is better in bed—dancers, musicians, or actors? I said, ‘Dancers!’ Musicians are too self-absorbed. They are too concerned with themselves to be great in bed.” On Marc Anthony: “I hung in there for seven years. I knew very quickly that it wasn’t the right thing.” On Casper Smart: “We got together and broke up and are now together again. I still think about getting married and having that long life with someone. I love the movie The Notebook. A dream of mine is to grow old with someone.” On being more accessible after her stint on American Idol: “It has been easier. People may now think I’m ‘nice,’ but they still act surprised when I’m smart. It’s a man’s world, and, truly, people in a business setting do not value a woman as much as a man. I feel like I’m constantly having to prove myself. If a man does one thing well, people immediately say he’s a genius. Women have to do something remarkable over and over and over. And, even then, they get questions about their love life. People underestimate me. They always have, and maybe that’s for the best. It’s fun to prove them wrong.” [From W Magazine] I do think J.Lo is smart… in almost every area of her life. She’s dumb in love, but smart everywhere else. And she’s right about people undervaluing her simply because she’s a woman, just as she’s right about constantly being underestimated. I love the bit about her thin ankles and wrists, I love the shade she has for Marc Anthony and I’m absolutely astonished that she hasn’t been alone in public in 20 years. She’s also wrong about dancers being the best lovers – swimmers are obviously the best lovers! Meanwhile, there’s one thing I’d like to mention – last week, there was a controversy about J.Lo’s new single, “Ain’t Your Mama.” The song is awful, full-stop. But it was written by Meghan Trainor, and there were widespread reports that the track had been “produced” by Dr. Luke. Jennifer got a lot of online hate and shade for that. But E! News reported that Trainor had written the song several years back and her version was produced by Dr. Luke back then, before Kesha’s lawsuit. Then Trainor gave the song to J.Lo and J.Lo didn’t know Dr. Luke had ever had his fingerprints on it. Trainor confirmed that version of events this week, calling the backlash against Jennifer “ridiculous” and “not fair on her, not at all.” Photos courtesy of W Magazine.

Chris Evans isn’t ruling out running for political office: ‘I would never say never’

Captain America fans be damned, I’ve never really been a huge Chris Evans stan. I don’t have a problem with him, it’s just that he sometimes (SOMETIMES) seems like a neurotic whiner. But he’s not like that in his interview with the new issue of Esquire Middle East. He comes across well and almost sort-of Captain America-like. Before now, I had no idea that his uncle is currently serving in the House of Representatives. His uncle is Rep. Mike Capuano. Do they call him “Cap” too?! Anyway, Chris talks about politics and more. Some highlights: Whether he would run for political office: “I would never say never. I’ve always thought it would be nice one day to think about some sort of political pursuit. I’m so proud of my uncle and of anyone who dedicates themselves to helping the progression of society in exacting change for the betterment of mankind. Ultimately, there’s very few things that I consider to be noble and challenging. I know that Washington is a tough place. I have my opinions and maybe later on in life I might try and actually get up on a soap box.” Directing his first movie, Before We Go: “I’d wanted to direct for a long time. It’s just hard to find someone who’s willing to let you direct. I have no training. I’ve never been to any sort of school, so it’s a gamble. It was a situation where we found a script that felt manageable. This was a simple story; it’s two people. It just felt very contained and, not to sound awful, but I aimed a little low, just because I wanted to get my feet wet. I think there’s no shame in that. I didn’t want to bite off more than I could chew the first time out.” What happened as a director: “There were a lot of things I thought I was prepared for that never became a problem, and things I didn’t think would be an issue that ended up being one. So it was very eye opening. But I loved the experience and I want to do it again. I’m trying to aim a little higher in terms of the story and the scope. I feel a little more comfortable behind the camera, and it’s now just about finding the right script. Because the really great scripts are snatched up by the really great directors. So it’s about digging and trying to find the diamond in the rough.” He’ll take more of a break from acting when he has kids: “I would never stop acting completely, because I do love it, but if I was to get married and have kids, I could see myself wanting to be less of a famous actor. The fame thing is the tricky part, especially when you have children, and there is a nice element to the investment in directing. Even the amount of time and passion required for pre- and post-production; you’re with a project intimately for a year. As an actor you’ve got a few months and then you completely forget about it. So I like that connection, and I like that you can be a little more in the shadows but still be part of a profession that you’re in love with.” On ambition: “My big ambition is to not have a big ambition. I know it’s kind of strange but mu goal in life is to practice trying to be present on a daily basis. I think, as people, our consciousness is spread out. We analyze the past, we worry about the future, and it’s all fueled by fear and pain and all these negative things. Even when its good it’s going to be not good in a minute. Then you’re chasing it again. It’s all rooted in time and I think my big ambition is to really practice the ability to quiet my brain a little and just learn how to enjoy the moment.” [From E! News] I didn’t see Before We Go, but I remember that the reviews weren’t bad or anything. He didn’t embarrass himself and he’ll probably be given another opportunity to direct, because Hollywood loves rewarding white guys. I’m just saying… if a black, Asian or Hispanic actor had made the jump to directing and made so little impact with their first film, would they be given another opportunity? As for what he says about possibly running for political office… I actually like that idea. He doesn’t carry around the kind of personal baggage that many “political” actors have – as in, I know less about Chris’s personal life than George Clooney, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, etc. And I think it’s cute that he’s already planning ahead for when he’s married and has kids. In Touch: Drew Barrymore & Will have been separated for a year

Embed from Getty Images The tabloids reported last fall that Drew Barrymore and Will Kopelman were having problems and had been living apart for a while. Then of course they announced last Friday that they were formally splitting and planned to divorce soon. In Touch now claims that Drew is the one who decided to separate after she had a personal revelation during her 40th birthday vacation that she was unhappy in her marriage. This is consistent with everything we’ve heard in major celebrity outlets, and it’s not surprising that there’s a specific moment when Drew decided to leave. That seems so much like her. In Touch magazine, on newsstands tomorrow, is reporting that a turning point for Drew came in February 2015, when she turned 40. She took a trip to Hawaii and realized how unhappy she was. “Inside, she was crying,” a family insider tells In Touch. “She felt like she wasn’t in control of her life anymore.” Things got worse quickly. “Drew began contacting her attorneys in the fall of 2015,” the family insider adds. “She tried to keep it together for as long as she could, but their relationship was broken beyond repair.” “Part of the problem is that Drew and Will are total opposites. He’s very organized and used to keeping a schedule, and Drew’s flighty, always late and is truly a wild child at heart,” the family insider tells In Touch. “Because she came from a broken family, Drew tried so hard to play the devoted wife role. She desperately wanted that sense of family and stability, and for a while she thought she found that in Will.” But in 2014, she returned to the big screen with the Adam Sandler dud Blended. “At that point, she wanted to ramp up her career again and Will didn’t want her to,” says the family insider. “They fought bitterly about it.” Adds a source close to Drew, “There was no infidelity, nothing dramatic like that. This has been going on for a long time. They’ve been working on their issues. In the end, they feel like, ‘This is a bummer. We tried.’” The couple remains on good terms. “They are still living together,” says the source close to Drew. “They have places in NYC and in LA. Both are in LA right now, living in the same house.” [From In Touch] That sounds about right, and we’ve heard it several times now – Drew was unhappy, she did some soul searching, they tried for a while and ultimately ended it. It’s sad but it happens to so many couples. They seem to be putting their kids first and focusing on what matters. E! also has an insider story about Drew, and it reinforces the narratives in US Magazine and People this week. Their insider says that “This was a slow burn. It was not a decision that they came to over night. They worked on things for a long time and have had time to adjust.” As I mentioned yesterday, this sounds so much like all the stories around the Garner-Affleck split and I don’t think that’s a coincidence. Drew’s longterm friend, Cameron Diaz, was on Andy Cohen’s XM show promoting her new book recently. Andy asked her if she’d reached out to Drew after hearing about her split and she responded in general terms, but it sounds like she has. She said “Everybody pulls the wagons around, you know, our friends, whoever needs us in whatever point in time. Even if it’s something that the public doesn’t know about. Internally we’re all going, like, ‘OK, who needs us now?’ And that really is, I think, a major part of the connectivity we need. We need to keep those things connected.” So it sounds like Cameron has known for some time that Drew is having relationship trouble. Drew just talked about Cameron in her Marie Claire interview so I don’t doubt that Cameron has been helping her. Plus she recently Instagrammed this: I am so proud of my dearest girlfriend. She is smart! Kind! Fun! And now has her second book available with all her knowledge and passion! #longevitybook @camerondiaz get yours today LINK in my BIO A photo posted by Drew Barrymore (@drewbarrymore) on Apr 5, 2016 at 12:56pm PDT Embed from Getty Images This is Will, Drew and Will’s sister, Jill Kargman.
