Blac Chyna slaps back at social media criticism of her pregnant body

FFN_VEM_Chyna_Blac_051616_52059910

Here are some photos of Blac Chyna out to lunch with friends in Miami a few days ago. As you can see, she’s wearing a pretty simple jumpsuit and flats and she’s obviously showing these days. I think Chyna/Angela Kardashian just has one of those body types that “show” very quickly, like Kim Kardashian and Jessica Simpson. Short, curvy women are never going to carry their pregnancies like Gisele Bundchen, you know? But that doesn’t stop people from freaking out online and on social media. After these photos came online, people were criticizing Chyna’s pregnant body, because the internet is a cesspool of body shaming. So Chyna had something to say:

“To all you people out here with negative comments and insecure words (obviously because you have nothing else to do but criticize the next) I AM HAVING A BABY! Exactly what do you expect to see?! If I walked out in makeup and heels everyday to be beautiful to your means I WOULD BE MISERABLE AND UNHAPPY which are two vibes I refuse to transfer to my little one. If I comment on y’all pics and go in on them tired ass weaves or unblended ass contours I’ll be wrong right? It’ll be tragic! So stop playing & Put Some Respeck on my name.”

[Via People]

I’m including the Instagram comment below. I mean… she’s not wrong. Even when people were totally over Jessica Simpson’s back-to-back pregnancies and when everyone was laughing at Kim Kardashian’s pregnant figure, I defended those celebrity women. How tacky is it to pick on a pregnant woman? Of course their bodies are changing. Of course short, curvy women are going to carry differently than a tall model. So, if you want to talk sh-t about Chyna, do it about something other than her body.

Raven-Symone Was Fat-Shamed When She Was 7 Years Old

FFN_f_51782501

On being fat-shamed when she was a child:

“I remember not being able to have the bagel or anything at [craft services] – we call it crafty – where it’s just a table of food ready for you to eat whenever you want. And I remember people were like, ‘You can’t eat that. You’re getting fat.’ I’m like, ‘I’m 7! I’m hungry!’”

On body image:

“It’s more than what’s just the food – it’s what’s in the food. Your cortisol level and your serotonin level have a really strong influence on your body type. You put nasty stuff, images of women I’ll never to aspire to [in front of me], of course I’m going to get depressed. I lost weight to keep them people from talking to me. I got tired and irritated.”

See more of her next!

Size 14 Model Jennie Runk: “Being considered plus size is not something to be ashamed of”

tumblr_mmvfy5UXgI1s46f9zo1_500

On why she thinks the term ‘plus-size’ should not exist:

I definitely think our culture has put a negative connotation on the term. It shouldn’t be offensive to call someone plus size, it’s just a word used to describe a body type. It should be no more offensive than calling someone tall, short, blond, or brunette. The word itself isn’t the problem, it’s those stubborn connotations attached to it. We need to change the way people think about and react to the word. Being considered plus size is not something to be ashamed of. If that’s your body type, that’s part of who you are, and you should never be ashamed of who you are

Star: Taylor Swift has lost weight, ‘become fixated on her body image’

wenn21980038

Here are some photos of Taylor Swift at the Victoria’s Secret show in London this week. When I covered some of these Swifty photos earlier this week, I noticed (but didn’t say anything) that she seemed especially small in the pics. Swifty has always been a long, lean girl – she’s all arms and legs, and she really does have a model-type figure. But in these photos… yeah, she looks like she’s lost some weight. Considering she’s been on the promotional trail to shill her album, one theory might be that she’s simply under a lot of stress, plus she’s really busy, thus she’s lost some weight. Another theory might be this Star Mag story. “Sources” claim that Swifty has actually been trying to slim down to a “sub-zero”.

Taylor Swift’s startlingly thin figure has New Yorker doing double takes!

“Taylor has always had the appetite of a sparrow, but ever since she moved to New York she’s become fixated on her body image. She used to be a size zero, but she’s dropped down to a sub-zero. Her frame looks so fragile these days… it’s to the point where thigh is hardly thicker than her calf muscle.”

Factors contributing to 24-year-old Taylor’s increasingly skeletal physique are numerous – from the bad influences in her social circle to her own dangerous mind-set – but it doesn’t seem like anyone in her inner circle cares to confront her about it.

It’s all about the image: “Taylor’s terrified of looking fat in a picture, so her way of dealing with that is to be underweight… but the really worrying thing is how much emphasis she puts on food. She’s always talking about her baking and stocking her pantry with fresh muffins and bagels, but she never eats a bite of it. It’s all for her guests – so can give the image of someone who eats a lot.”

What she lives on: Coffee and salads. “She’ll add protein here and there, or have a piece of toast, but she rarely eats a proper meal. Some people are worried that she may even become anorexic.”

Workouts: “Taylor has convinced herself she’s building muscle because she’s using weights, but she’s not eating enough to actuall put on muscle. If anything, her workouts are burning away muscle.”

Supermodel friends: “Taylor sees her supermodel friends as the standard of beauty and wants to live up to that.”

Party girl: “Taylor has turned into the ultimate party girl. She regularly hosts wine nights at her house where she and her girlfriends will stay up until 6 am drinking and gossiping.”

[From Star Magazine, print edition]

Judging from the photos of Swifty leaving her NYC gym, I’ve never really thought she was breaking a sweat with her workouts anyway. I think she just goes to the gym for the photo-op, because she wants to be seen as a cool, normal New York girl who goes to the gym. As for the “living on salads and coffee” thing… could be. It could be that all of the cookie-baking is all for show. I don’t know though. My instinct is to defend her, mostly because I think she’s always had and always will have that long and lean body type, and she has been stressed lately. Cut her some slack!

Kim Kardashian wears bizarre cloak-ensemble in London: awesome or awful?

wenn21905156

You know how Kim Kardashian has been looking like a drowsy hooker on so many red carpets lately? I think I’ve figured it out. It’s a combination of A) some new eye makeup, which is too dark and it makes her look tired and B) a new way of posing, where Kim keeps her chin too far down and she looks like she’s about to nod off. As for the hooker-wear, well… I still have no explanation for that. This whole ensemble is just so unflattering – curvy girls cannot pull off oversized fashion-cloaks. The only people who could pull off this kind of ensemble? Tall, thin model-types. Kim always fails at dressing for her body type.

These are pics of Kim and Khloe at the launch party for “Hairfinity hair vitamins” in London last night. Kim had been in NYC for a few days with Kanye and North. I said (wrongly) last week that Kim and North were heading directly for Europe, where I assumed Kanye would have more performances for his Yeezus tour. But the Kardashian-West family did spend several days in NYC and there was bad fashion, of course. I’ll save those photos for another day.

Meanwhile, Kim’s book of selfies now has a release date: April 28, 2015. It will be, like, a coffee table book of just drowsy hooker photos. But of course the publisher has to fluff it up a bit, try to make it sound like high art:

Kim Kardashian’s selfie book will grace your coffee table sooner than you think! New details on Kim Kardashian Selfish have been revealed, including an official release date: April 28, 2015.

The reality star’s book will feature never-before-seen snapshots from “her early beginnings as a wardrobe stylist,” Rizzoli publishing recently posted on its site. It will also present “some of Kim’s favorite selfies in one volume—from her favorite throwback images to current ultra-sexy glam shots.”

The book description also compared Kardashian to none other than Marilyn Monroe. She’s “one of the most recognizable and iconic celebrities in the world. From her early beginnings as a wardrobe stylist, Kim Kardashian has catapulted herself into becoming one of the most recognizable celebrities in Hollywood,” the publisher’s note continues. “Hailed by many (including Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci) as the modern-day personification of Marilyn Monroe, Kim has become a true American icon.”

News of Kardashian’s selfie book (she took 1,200 pics alone while vacationing in Thailand earlier this year) was announced back in August. Since then, she’s added an author bio that reflects her life as a wife and mother.

It reads: “A new mom to her daughter, North, and happily married to the rapper Kanye West, Kim Kardashian is on top of the world, and this collection of hand-picked images from her personal archive is a tribute to her fans who have supported her through her very highly publicized journey.”

[From Us Weekly]

Riccardo Tisci must have been drunk off his ass when he said that Kim is the modern-day personification of Marilyn Monroe. For the love of God!! Call me crackie, but I could make a better argument for Lindsay Lohan as Marilyn rather than Kim. What the hell?

American Eagle’s New Unphotoshopped ‘Aerie Real’ Lingerie Campaign

American Eagles New Unphotoshopped Aerie Real Lingerie Campaign | beauty body image

The typical lingerie ad usually features a model with flawless, almost unreal skin (sometimes with no real shadows or slightly plastic-like) thanks to extensive treatments in Photoshop… but not American Eagle’s new Aerie Real campaign, which features models of different shapes and sizes without any airbrushing. More details from Daily Mail:

American Eagle is bucking the trend for digitally altered fashion images by launching a campaign with models who are completely non-airbrushed. For the new Aerie Real lingerie campaign, ‘We left everything,’ style and fit expert Jenny Altman told GMA. ‘We left beauty marks, we left tattoos, what you see is really what you get with our campaign.’

The brand hopes that its authentic representation of girls will help young customers embrace their own beauty, instead of striving for the impossible ideal often promoted by the fashion industry. Ms Altman added that since the line is aimed at girls aged 15 to 21, the models wearing these intimates should reflect reality. ‘Our customers represent this great demographic and they don’t really get to see what girls their age really look like,’ she explained.

Online shoppers can also see how a bra will fit on the American Eagle, website, which features models of all shapes and body types sporting the intimates. A banner on the website reinforces the brand’s objective. ‘Time to get real,’ it reads. ‘Time to think real. No supermodels. No retouching. Because the real you is sexy.’

One of the models in the ads proudly flaunts a beauty mark on her stomach, while another reveals a tattoo on her torso that would likely be airbrushed by other labels. In a video for the campaign, one of the models says: ‘What’s really sexy to me, I think, is imperfections and embracing your imperfections.

Our customers represent this great demographic and they don’t really get to see what girls their age really look like. I want to empower other girls. No matter if you have a funny ear or a pimple or a funny freckle, who you are at a deeper level matters.’

Emma Bazilian, a staff writer at Adweek, told GMA that the new campaign sets American Eagle apart from other brands that retouch their photos to perfection. ‘The difference between the Aerie real campaign and, for instance, a Victoria’s Secret campaign, is that Victoria’s Secret … they completely airbrush out every single blemish or stretch mark,’ she said. ‘Hopefully, this is a new age in advertising for female empowerment.’

So far, reaction to the campaign has been overwhelmingly positive, with fans taking to Twitter to voice their enthusiasm. ‘The AerieREAL campaign is SO good!’ wrote one shopper. ‘This is why I love Aerie so much – they make me feel pretty just the way I am.’ Another tweeted: ‘Forget stereotypes and societal standards of unrealistic beauty. AerieReal knows what’s up.’
