Robin Thicke left ‘The Masked Singer’ stage in protest of which contestant? (spoiler)

SPOILERS for The Masked Singer.

I mean, there’s no way to avoid the spoilers? And do people even care about spoilers for The Masked Singer, truly? I genuinely hope people stopped watching that mess when Sarah Palin was revealed as one of the “singers” in 2020. In fact, Palin’s appearance probably inspired this one: Rudy Giuliani was “unmasked” during filming this week, and The Masked Singer’s judges walked off the stage in protest.

Rudy Giuliani was unmasked as an exiting costumed contestant in last week’s taping of the first Season 7 episode of Fox’s popular primetime series The Masked Singer. Deadline hears that as soon as they saw Giuliani, judges Ken Jeong and Robin Thicke quickly left the stage in protest.

The show is known for its jaw-dropping surprises when celebrity contestants shed their headpieces after they are eliminated. The reaction to Giuliani was perhaps the most polarizing the show has seen since 2020. The Masked Singer faced criticism then when another controversial Republican politician, Sarah Palin, was unveiled as The Bear.

We aren’t revealing which costume Rudy wore or what his swan song was — his exit episode won’t air until next month — so you can still revel in his reveal. The theme of the new season is “The Good, The Bad and The Cuddly”; your political affiliation determines which category Giuliani fits.

Deadline hears that while Jeong and Thicke exited (they eventually returned), fellow judges Jenny McCarthy and Nicole Scherzinger remained onstage. They bantered with Giuliani, a controversial figure for pressing what is widely derided as a baseless claim that the 2020 presidential election was stolen from his client Donald Trump.

[From Deadline]

Robin Thicke is disgusting trash and even HE saw Giuliani and thought “too much.” What’s worse, that Thicke has some kind of moral high ground on Rudy Giuliani, or that Jenny McCarthy and Nicole Scherzinger stayed on stage and bantered with Rudy? And you know Rudy’s costume was a complete mess. Rudy was sweating off his hair dye in the middle of November 2020, as he traveled around the country promoting the Big Lie. Imagine the toxic blend of cheap hair dye and Covid farts filling up Rudy’s Masked Singer costume.

This is the most coherent argument Giuliani has made for weeks pic.twitter.com/H7o0P2jRnp

Emily Ratajkowski: Robin Thicke groped me on the set of the ‘Blurred Lines’ video

Platinum Jubilee

Emily Ratajkowski was a model with some success before she appeared in Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” music video, but that video put her on the map. Everyone wanted to know who she was, and she got so much work – as a model and an actress – from that video. Emily has always talked about the video with kind of a shrug, like it was just a job and who really cares. I always thought that was because she was embarrassed to make a name for herself doing a music video for such a lame song and a creepy artist. Nope, turns out Robin Thicke is just as gross as everyone has known for years. Thicke groped her on the set of the music video.

Emily Ratajkowski alleges that Robin Thicke crossed a line on the set of the video that brought both the singer and the model to international notoriety. Ratajkowski writes in her book My Body, set to be released next month, “Suddenly, out of nowhere, I felt the coolness and foreignness of a stranger’s hands cupping my bare breasts from behind. I instinctively moved away, looking back at Robin Thicke.” She said Thicke appeared drunk and his actions made her feel “the heat of humiliation” and “naked for the first time that day,” though she had been partially nude throughout the shoot. “I didn’t react—not really, not like I should have,” she writes.

Diane Martel, the video’s director, confirmed the incident to the Sunday Times of London: “I remember the moment that he grabbed her breasts, one in each hand. He was standing behind her as they were both in profile. I screamed in my very aggressive Brooklyn voice, ‘What the f–k are you doing, that’s it! The shoot is over!’”

[From The Daily Beast]

Disgusting. I believe Emily and I believe Diane Martel. I remember Emily talking about how she only agreed to do the nudity in the music video because of Diane, because there was a female director taking pains to make the young models feel comfortable and protected. And then there was Robin Thicke, assaulting one of the models. Ugh. We’ve always known he was a pig, but that doesn’t make it any better.

God, this song and video does not hold up at all.

Adam Levine stalks Behati Prinsloo in bloody Maroon 5 video: disturbing?

Adam Levine

This is a photo from Adam Levine’s Instagram page. He and wife Behati Prinsloo are covered in fake blood from the set of the new Maroon 5 video. The song is called “Animals,” and the lyrics are all about stalking a woman and pursuing her to unwanted and violent ends. The video matches up to the lyrics and then some. Adam wears glasses to play a “nerdy” version of himself (even though he looks the same as always). Behati is still her hot, Victoria’s Secret model self.

Here’s what happens: Nerd Adam is a butcher, and he starts obsessing over gorgeous Behati, a customer. He stalks the window outside her apartment. He rubs bloody meat all over himself. He follows Behati to a bar, but she’s not into him. So he comes into her bedroom and takes pictures. Then he has a graphic, disgusting fantasty of taking a blood shower with her and getting it on. Billboard describes the video as an American Psycho homage of sorts. Nope. There’s no satire to this video. What you see is what you get, and this video is truly revolting. You can watch the NSFW video here. The YouTube comments are mixed, but some women are going crazy about Adam’s hotness. Gross.

I can’t believe this video even exists. It’s that offensive. Levine has cranked the Robin Thicke stalkometer up to about 105. Is it okay for Adam to make a video where he stalks a woman because it’s his real-life wife? No way. The song’s lyrics send a bad enough message on their own. Add in Adam’s maniacally grinning expressions, and this video is more predatory than an entire Law & Order: SVU season combined.

Robin Thicke disowns ‘Blurred Lines,’ he blames it on Pharrell & Vicodin

Robin Thicke

Just when I think Robin Thicke can’t get any douchier, he outdoes himself. 2014 has been a total disaster for Robin. He should be curled up in a fetal position. No one bought his stalky album. Paula Patton ditched him and triumphantly moved forth with her life. Aaand (this is my favorite part) everyone laughed at Robin’s unintentionally hilarious acting debut in Making the Rules. The movie went straight to VOD. If you watch these lowlight-highlights, you’ll see why. He is a terrible actor and full of awkward silences.

Maybe 2015 will be a better trip for Thicke? Ha. He certainly won’t be working with Pharrell again. Thicke, Pharrell, and T.I. initially filed suit to protect themselves after people noticed “Blurred Lines” ripped off Marvin Gaye’s “Got to Give It Up.” Marvin Gaye’s family countersued. Gaye’s family filed for summary motion last week, and Robin’s bizarre deposition has been made public. Robin initially told several outlets that he co-wrote the song with Pharrell. Robin once told the BBC he wrote it for Paula because “She’s my good girl.” Robin once confessed to GQ magazine that and Pharrell purposely fashioned the song after Gaye’s classic.

Robin’s changing his story. Robin says he had nothing to do with writing “Blurred Lines.” He only said that junk because he was high on Vicodin, yo. Hollywood Reporter has a detailed analysis of the depo (you can see the full article here here). Some highlights:

[Thicke] says under oath that after writing and producing six albums himself, “I was jealous and I wanted some of the credit … I tried to take credit for it later because [Williams] wrote the whole thing pretty much by himself and I was envious of that.”

In his deposition, Thicke soon gets more specific:

“Q: Were you present during the creation of ‘Blurred Lines’?

Thicke: I was present. Obviously, I sang it. I had to be there.

Q: When the rhythm track was being created, were you there with Pharrell?

Thicke: To be honest, that’s the only part where — I was high on Vicodin and alcohol when I showed up at the studio. So my recollection is when we made the song, I thought I wanted — I — I wanted to be more involved than I actually was by the time, nine months later, it became a huge hit and I wanted credit. So I started kind of convincing myself that I was a little more part of it than I was and I — because I didn’t want him — I wanted some credit for this big hit. But the reality is, is that Pharrell had the beat and he wrote almost every single part of the song.”

Thicke says he was just “lucky enough to be in the room” when Williams wrote the song. Afterward, he gave interviews to outlets like Billboard where he repeated the false origin story surrounding “Blurred Lines” because he says he “thought it would help sell records.” But he also states he hardly remembers his specific media comments because he “had a drug and alcohol problem for the year” and “didn’t do a sober interview.” In fact, when he appeared on Oprah Winfrey’s show with his young son and talked about how weird it was to be in the midst of a legal battle with the family of a legendary soul singer who “inspires almost half of my music,” Thicke admits he was drunk and taking Norco — “which is like two Vicodin in one pill,” he says.

The singer addresses his honesty (“I told my wife the truth. That’s why she left me.”) and after saying he’s been sober for many months, clarifies toward the end of the deposition that he’s given up Vicodin but not alcohol.

[From Hollwyood Reporter]

For whatever reason, Pharrell let Robin have a co-writer credit, so Thicke gets about 18-22 percent of the song’s royalties. Robin gladly took that money, and he enjoyed the “prestige” of writing a douchey song with a clever beat. Now Robin wants none of the credit but only because of the lawsuit. Of course. Oh, and Robin says Paula left him because he lied about writing “Blurred Lines.” Not because he was hitting it with other chicks. Mega douche.

This pic illustrates how I imagine Pharrell reacting to this mess.

Jennifer Lawrence: “I Don’t Want To Constantly Be a GIF”

Jennifer Lawrence Marie Claire

-I’m not in love with this Jennifer Lawrence cover, but the interview is great. She says she’s ready for the inevitable backlash (“Nobody can stay beloved forever. People are going to get sick of me”), talks about how she makes it work with Nicholas Hoult, sounds off on her GIFification, and says fame made her “closed off” and “rude.”

-Remember those cute photos of Jon Hamm and Elisabeth Moss  walking around NYC last week? Of course they immediately led to some ridiculous rumour about them hooking up. They are not.

-Damn you and your irrepressible adorableness, Tom Hiddleston! That’s not even the comic book character you play!

-Just like Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith thinks it’s no big deal that her 13-year-old daughter took a photo in bed with a shirtless 20-year- old actor — though she was a lot more defensive about it. The phrase “covert pedophiles” was thrown around.

-There are some unconfirmed reports that Chris Martin and Alexa Chung were spotted having dinner in NYC, which should do nothing to quash those rumours that she was the reason behind his conscious uncoupling.

-Meanwhile, Gwyneth Paltrow got defensive in this week’s issue of GOOP, suggesting her working mother quote was taken out of context.

Terry Crews has been named the new host of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, which is great because everyone in the world should know his name — and his dance moves.

-Surf’s Down: Gerard Butler bailed on that ill-advised Point Break remake due to “creative differences.” Who wants to bet those differences were with the gym?

-This might be the first trailer for Seth MacFarlane’s A Million Ways to Die in the West that made me kinda sorta maybe not want to avoid it at all costs. Possibly — and only because it features Sarah Silverman explaining vaginas.

Seth MacFarlane could use the support. His terrible show Dads was just canceled (deservedly so). Less deservedly, the awesome Enlisted also got the axe. So did Surviving Jack, which I didn’t watch but heard only  great things about.

-In other TV news, The CW just renewed Hart of Dixie and Beauty of the Beast (really?!), but cancelled Star-Crossed and The Carrie Diaries. They also picked up four new dramas, including Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas’ iZombie, and the Arrow spinoff The Flash — which I’m excited about because it means Tom Cavanagh will be back on our TVs! Also because Arrow has been having an absolutely killer season.

-In other TV news, Debra Messing is returning to NBC, as is HIMYM’s Mother.

-Did Shia LaBeouf just burn those terrible, terrible pants of his?

Ellen Degeneres grilled Julia Roberts on George Clooney’s engagement.

Robert Pattinson and Guy Pearce go head-to- head in an intense new clip from their Cannes entry The Rover.

-Last week I mentioned I could never see the point of paying for a photo opp with a celebrity (except for maybe the cast of Being Human, ’cause those freaks be crazy). Avril Lavigne fans learned their lesson after paying nearly $400 for these super awkward photos.

Kimye‘s issue of Vogue didn’t sell nearly as well as “projected.” Prayer works!

-The Clueless cast was rollin’ with the homies earlier this week.

Reese Witherspoon swears like a trucker in Cara Delevingnes’ Instagram videos: “If you force me to say your last name, I’ll be f**ked…I love you Kara, Cara, I don’t know what your f**king name is.”

Billy Eichner’s reaction to LA’s earthquake was the goddamn best: “IS EMMY ROSSUM OK”

Billy Eichner is on a roll this week. He also played a game with Sean Hayes called “Who Is The Most Famous Person You Can Get On Your Phone?

-Ruh roh. Elizabeth Banks is being sued over Walk Of Shame.

Paula Patton opens up about her recent separation from Robin Thicke: “There’s a deep love there.”

Piers Morgan went after Larry King hard on Twitter today.

-Lost’s Michael Emerson tried to use Pharrell’s “Happy” to prove he’s not as evil as he looks. It didn’t work.

Pink’s hubby Carey Hart laughed off those pregnancy rumors with a really gross joke.

-Fun: Allison‘s musical in Orphan Black is based on real show that debuted in Toronto.

Ben Affleck was banned from a Vegas casino for card counting during blackjack. I really could have used him last weekend…

Sarah Jessica Parker and Anna Wintour critiqued men’s fashion at the Met Gala on Seth Meyers‘ show — and said only one guy got it right.

-Also, Amy Poehler finally returned Seth Meyers’ credit card.

Bryan Cranston was on Fallon this week, where he learned that words are hard.

Jason Dohring is shooting a Hallmark movie in which he plays a single dad and I want it in my eyeholes immediately!

Amber Heard looks as uncomfortable about being held by Johnny Depp as we feel about seeing it.

Seth Rogen can’t stop slamming Justin Bieber. God bless him.

Sarah Chalke and Donald Faison have a secret handshake, which makes me miss Scrubs even more.

-Here’s the international trailer for 22 Jump Street.

-In other movie news, the final trailer for Disney’s Maleficent is here.

Brangelina have started promoted the movie, and they look amazing. I’m glad his hair situation is finally under control.

-The new trailer for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is actually kinda great. Gary Oldman and Keri Russell FTW!
