I get that not everyone likes or enjoys Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith, but can we agree on something? Like, Will Smith is a major movie star for a reason. He’s incredibly charismatic. I was reminded of that while watching his interview on Good Morning America on Thursday. Will stopped by GMA to discuss his wife’s boycott of the Oscars and the subsequent backlash. And while I defended Jada previously, I have to say that if she wants people on her side, she just needs to send Will out there to speak on her behalf. He has all the charisma in that family. Here’s the video:
Above is a photo of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith at the premiere of his new movie, Concussion, for which he’s getting Oscar buzz. Jada wore this insane see-through sequin Zuhair Murad gown that Will is admiring. She’s about to rip the skirt off so it won’t trip her up when she does a double axle. This isn’t the first time that Jada has worn an obvious “look at me” outfit to one of Will’s events. Just last week she got her boobs out at the Latin Grammys, where Will performed, in yet another sheer and silver sequin dress.
Will’s face kind of says it all here, he has the best expressions.
Will has been fielding questions about his marriage, and he and Jada have put a lot out there about their relationship so that’s to be expected. When asked for the “secret” to his 20 year marriage Will said it’s hard work, basically.
“We’ve been married 20 years and we’ve been asking ourselves [what’s the secret to marriage] and really at the end of the day it’s just not quitting,” the 47-year-old actor said of Pinkett Smith, who he first started dating in 1995 and then married two years later. “You can’t expect it to be easy, it’s like our marriage was the most difficult, grueling, excruciating thing that we have ever taken on in our lives. And you know were just not quitters and by the same token we’re not apathetic. We’re not going to sit there and let it be painful, we’re going to keep working.”
“If there is a secret I would say is that we never went into working our relationship. We only ever worked on ourselves individually, and then presented ourselves to one another better than we were previously.”
“When my husband of almost 20 years can’t take his eyes off me? That’s amazing. But the number one reason I go to the gym is because it keeps me sane; I can deal with whatever’s coming at me.”
On how sh sees herself:
“It’s an internal thing. I know that I’m petite but I never think like I am, ever. The truth is, there are times when I feel as big and tall as Will!”
“Nothing supremely special. I get a facial maybe twice a year, and I drink a lot of water… [She spies Willow across the street, coming back from Whole Foods with a family friend, and waves.] “Willow got into alkaline water, and Jaden’s like, ‘Mommy, you can only drink distilled water.’ And I’m like, ‘Listen, I can’t keep up with you all, I just can’t. I’m cool with the tap water.’”
On her fitness regimen:
“It’s funny—my cardio workout varies. If I have a heavy carb week, I’ve got a heavy cardio week. I tell people all the time, ‘You can eat whatever you want, as long as you’re willing to put the work in,’ and that’s a thing I had to learn. So I make sure I do something physical every single day. But that doesn’t mean you have to go to the gym and freakin’ kill yourself! I do 20 minutes of cardio a day… Literally, I’m never in the gym longer than 45 minutes. Just be consistent— that’s it! It doesn’t necessarily have to be intense, and you will see a difference.”
“…It is what it is! I’m getting older! I’ve never looked at myself as, like, a beauty. I’m not sore on the eye, but I know there’s always going to be somebody more beautiful—always. My grandmother used to say to me, ‘It’s not about what you look like on the outside. It’s what you look like on the inside.’ So she helped me learn at an early age to be well-rounded, to be spiritual, to be compassionate.”

-Everyone in the Firefly cast is still awesome, just in case you were worried.
-Did anyone else cringe a lot while watching Brad Pitt dance at the Bruno Mars concert? I mean, it wasn’t Tom Cruise-levels of horrifying, but it was still kinda wince-y. When Michael Strahan was covering it on this morning’s GMA, he was all “what’s Brad doing with his hands? We need to work on that.”

-The trailer for the Roger Ebert documentary Life Itself looks beautiful.

-I’m not in love with this Jennifer Lawrence cover, but the interview is great. She says she’s ready for the inevitable backlash (“Nobody can stay beloved forever. People are going to get sick of me”), talks about how she makes it work with Nicholas Hoult, sounds off on her GIFification, and says fame made her “closed off” and “rude.”
-Remember those cute photos of Jon Hamm and Elisabeth Moss walking around NYC last week? Of course they immediately led to some ridiculous rumour about them hooking up. They are not.
-Damn you and your irrepressible adorableness, Tom Hiddleston! That’s not even the comic book character you play!
-Just like Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith thinks it’s no big deal that her 13-year-old daughter took a photo in bed with a shirtless 20-year- old actor — though she was a lot more defensive about it. The phrase “covert pedophiles” was thrown around.

–Seth MacFarlane could use the support. His terrible show Dads was just canceled (deservedly so). Less deservedly, the awesome Enlisted also got the axe. So did Surviving Jack, which I didn’t watch but heard only great things about.
-In other TV news, The CW just renewed Hart of Dixie and Beauty of the Beast (really?!), but cancelled Star-Crossed and The Carrie Diaries. They also picked up four new dramas, including Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas’ iZombie, and the Arrow spinoff The Flash — which I’m excited about because it means Tom Cavanagh will be back on our TVs! Also because Arrow has been having an absolutely killer season.
